Why cant something good come out of Manhattan Beach? It seems that the same civic group that wanted to privatize Manhattan Beach now wants to ban barbecuing from the designated barbecuing area.
Barbecuing in general attracts lots of family’s to the beach. Instead of the “thugs” as Dr. Ron Biondo once put it. Dr Biondo is the current president of the Manhattan Beach Civic group.
The Parks Department has said that it wouldn’t prohibit barbecuing on Manhattan Beach. The 61 Precinct has no issue with barbecuing on the beach. CB 15 has no problem with barbecuing in the designated areas.
Why is it that this civic group has a problem with it?
Even the police like barbecuing on Manhattan Beach

The Manhattan Beach Community Civic Public Meeting was interesting to say the least. I listened and it ended up that I was forced to participate by some unruly residents.

Dr. Ron Biondo has called off the “Emergency Meeting” for June 20th, that was to be held at Kingsborough Community College
From Dr. Ron Biondo
Based on reports of a melee, including a stabbing and a shooting, an emergency meeting was called to discuss the community’s options for dealing with the problem. Considering that the reports of a stabbing and a shooting were not substantiated and that police presence has been increased, the emergency meeting is no longer necessary.

Today was interesting, we were interviewed by both channel 9 and 5 about this site and Dr Biondos suggested items for his community public beach.
There was a large police presence in and outside Manhattan Beach. Around 10 uniformed officers, a couple of white shirted officers, and a large Patrol Borough Brooklyn South Van. We also saw police officers from the 60th precinct who were there patrolling, which Manhattan Beach isn’t part of their precinct.

This isn’t Gerritsen Beach related but deserves a bit of attention.
Dr. Ron Biondo, President of the Manhattan Beach Community Group, is holding a emergency meeting on Thursday, June 21 @ 8:00 PM, in response to “graffiti, litter and other destruction“. Because of this litter Dr. Biondo wants to:
- Privatize his community’s public beach
- Have the NYPD at both sides of that foot bridge checking ID’s.
- Set up one entrance to the beach and have metal detectors.
Manhattan Beach is not a dangerous neighborhood.
