I live in the New section on Devon and Aster Court. My cat Simba went missing last night. He is not a street cat. He does not go out. He was down at my parents house last night and I went to go get him and he must have slipped out the door. It is now 7 AM I have been up all night looking for him. Not sure if he got out and someone found him and took him or if he is roaming. I am sure he is Very Scared.
I am so Heartbroken right now. His name is Simba he is an orange peach color long haired cat. 646-346-0748

Experience has taught me they never go far. Look in closet shelves, behind stacks, or high places in the home. Then look for low places outside. Bushes, open basement windows, etc. he probably won’t respond to his name. If you feed him hard food, shake the box loudly. Put a plate where you can see it and leave where he can see you. It took me two weeks to get my little boy back so don’t give up

I find it sad that someone is heartbroken over a beloved pet gone missing and she has to deal with stupid, callous comments (“Before or after the dog sees it”? Really?). This message was posted here to ask neighbors to keep their eye out for her cat, not so people can write hurtful things. Good luck to you Teresa, I will definitely be looking out for Simba.

10 yrs ago when I decided to move into Gerritsen beach I thought it was a great idea.Today only reaffirms it.Thank you Danny and to the majority of the people in this community who have been so kind and helpful to my Daughter Teresa.To some people it is just a cat.To her it is family.She is heartbroken.Thank you to an awesome community of people for your help and concern.

The fact that comments like the one above stay up on this website is one of the reasons I frequent this site less and less. Leaving up public comments no matter how disgusting is not a matter of journalistic integrity, quite the opposite – it’s more like a lack of editorial maturity.
This is a neighborhood blog that should be a little more responsible to the neighbors it purports to serve. While it generally does a good job at informing the public of local happenings, it’s difficult to appreciate if on the other hand it doesn’t protect the image of our community. There is a clear difference between censoring a person’s political speech and removing obvious and deliberate hateful and hurtful gibberish that takes away from the neighborhood in general. This is a good neighborhood, a safe neighborhood. There are those, not from this neighborhood, who love to post anonymously to tear us down, as well as a number of little kids who gleefully get to see the equivalent of a vandalized website with their ridiculous posts.

Thank you. I went to the animal shelter on Sunday and let a flyer and looked around. He is registered as a lost pet on the ACC. I hope I find him too. I forgot to add there is a reward. I should have this site post my flyer that I put up all over.

Also, leave fliers at all the local Vets. Montella on S and S’bay on Ave U. have the kindest Vet techs and they will be on the lookout and regulars come in with strays/lost all the time.

i cant believe that some people make comments like that.. I have 3 cats and a dog and if one of them was missing I would be beside myself.. My friend posted the pic on Facebook and i shared it on my page I really hope you find him and bring him home safe and sound. For the ignorant people that left nasty comments, I pray you never lose something you love and I hope that you never feel the pain that this woman is feeling .. they become part of your family and heart and its devastating when they are gone.. i will continue to keep an eye out, call the vets and just continue to post pics and fliers.. If theres anything I can do please let me know … Im praying for you
