I have a question. If the current population of Blacks is 0%, how is this an 11% increase? Was there previously a negative population? Same for “other”. Now at 1% with a 12% increase?

    Just curious.

Because the numbers are rounded to the nearest whole number. by 2010 numbers, 1%= 52.26 people, anything below 26.13 people would be rounded to 0%. For it to go up 11%, it would have to be 9 or 18 originally and go up to 10 or 20 respectively which be 11% increase but still be rounded down to 0% of total.

If you’re in jail, are you still considered a resident of Gerritsen Beach?
That may be the cause of the decrease.

  • Irish Kevin

Looks like 5.1% made a wise decision !

Kevin- If you made such a wise decision why is it that you get up every day and check this website? It must not be very much fun down in red neck land where you live now if writing lousy comments on this website is your hobby. Oh, yeah, that’s right, because you still own some dump that you have been trying to sell in the new section that must be overpriced or have alot of issues or it would have sold already. Get a life.

It is really quite funny how Irish Kevin gets the best of many of you Anon’s making Anonyasse’s out of so many of you. A Simple comment like 5.1% made a wise decision got such a responce.Considering this guy posts this stuff to accomplish just that. I sit back here and read this stuff ,man it’s like grammar school.one child teasing others.Well JMO ,BTW Kevin you know how to press the buttons don’t you ?

Not every day anonyass,My hobby(one of many) is seeing how stupid people act when provoked.BTW my home(which has been rented) happens to be in great shape and not pieced together by one of the part time Wanna B contractors in the beach(with all the required permits in order) Now as for you SJ—Nice call.you must be one of the 5.1 percenters.

Maybe they counted your fat ass as more as 3% of that.

  • Sloppy Joe

Looks like Kevin might have something here. When the Anonyasses get upset that means the truth was told.

Or some A-hole is just blabbing on about nothing for no real reason.

      • The Beacher

Maybe when the census people came around 5.1% of the residents were Drunk and could not answer the door. My bet is they were either Drunk or passed out. Never the less with less people that means more Beer for me. After reading some of these comments, maybe you people need a drink or two or three to mellow out. Cheers !

I am glad to see we are all living in such a racially mixed neighborhood..At least when the Federal bean counters look. We will not need a re-balancing to achieve diversity through Affirmative Action Programs. And we can all stay put.

Or it could be that people have had less kids in the last 10 years, and kids grow up and move away.

    • The Irishman

Exactly what I was thinking. People grow up move out, less children in the average household.I wonder what the stats are for Mill Basin,Bergen Beach ? I guess we can’t count the Bay with all the Russians moving in there.I was wondering how many Foreclosures there are in the Beach. How many vacant houses etc.

      • Anonymous

Irishman, I believe you’re right. Between 2000 and 2006 I had 3 daughters, a granddaughter and a son-in-law living in my house. They all moved away after 2006 along with the in-laws that use to live in the beach. That’s 10 people just from 2 families. By 2020 most if not all the teens today will move away too.

Kids move away in the beach?

      • The Beacher

I know of many who have moved. With all the bad stories coming out about the Beach who could blame them.We are cosidered a Shanty Trailer Park Neighborhood.

There is one vacant house on my block but that was a rental property. I know for a fact that the previous tenants bought a house in the beach so that would not be a minus to the beaches population. The owner of the rental property was trying to sell but it is on one lot and needs renovation and IMO he was asking way to much money. It seems to be off the market for now.

Since we do not have the axact numbers, ave. household members, single people living in the beach, how many families move out or in, let do some simple math.

    2010 pop. 5,226
Lets say the average family has 4 members. That’s 1,306.5 families in the beach.

Lets just say that 306.5 people are single and living in the beach. That leaves 1,000 families.

Now lets say that 500 families have 2 teen children. That’s 1,000 posible people that will leave the beach by 2020.

Yes, families will move in and out and more children will be born, so that should even it out somewhat.

I’ve taken the census five times and have changed my race every time. They still haven’t figured it out!

  • Ryland

The Grammer/Spelling police are here. Use your spell check. I think Kevin might be right this one time “Bored”.

  • Sloppy Joe

Looks like “Kevin not Irish” Bit it. Maybe he/she will come up with an original name next time.LOL Guess my suggestion was researched.

Just wondering why the news is not updated on this site any more. I believe something happened on Gerritsen near whitney the other night and no mention of it on this site.
    I miss all the updates

    • The Beacher

I was wondering the same thing? I was told by a friend ever since they started taking posts off for one reason or another many posters stopped posting, the way she put it was that I am not interested in a censored site. Who knows maybe my reply might vanish as well.

      • Bath Salts

If that’s the case then your friend should just give up on the internet as a whole. I would wager 95+ percent of news and blog sites are or have been censored.

  • Cornholio

What happened on Gerritsen and Whitney the other night?

  • Anonymous

Has anyone taken into consideration the elderly that have passed on between 2000 and 2010?

  • anonymous

Anyone else annoyed by people from Family Energy coming to your door, I had one person ring my bell I told him I was not interested, I than closed the door and he kept ringing the bell!
I Read online that this is a scam I don’t know if anyone knows anything about them .
