NYCParks Reminds Us Not to Ride Vehicles On Parkland. We Destroyed the Signs.

Gerritsen and Devon- Only sign that survived.

Yep. Last week, NYC Parks put up about a half dozen signs on the avenue reminding us not to ride on the park land. Now most are destroyed or missing. One or two might be left.

Sorry, but I don’t like the comment above that says “WE” destroy the signs. I feel like i’m being blamed for someone elses vandalism. This is just retaliation for all the comments made about the dirt bag bikers! The just showed their true colors!

I agree! It is not “WE” that destroyed the signs, this is the work of a few bad apples. And how do we know that someone from outside the neighborhood didn’t do this? They all read what goes on here. How do we know they didn’t come here and steal and break the signs just so they can sit back with their friends and have a good laugh at our expense while we all point fingers at each other.

Are you people “BLIND”, there have been dozens of times when in broad day light the KIDS FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD are Vadalizing the park!! Open your eyes as you drive or walk by the park!! Its the same kids from the neighborhood& they know who they are! it hasnt changed its just going to get worse as the weather gets hotter! Parent ask yourselves “Do you know where my children are? oops, I should !!

Sorry, but haven’t been lucky enough to see them vandalizing the park, but it seem that YOU have! So what have you done about it after seeing them? I just wish it was like it was 30 years ago! I’d make one call and have 50 people down here to kick so ass!

It’s not my kid mentality! If any one confronts any of those kids, the parents will try and kick “your” ass for saying anything, “how dare you say anything” then they will try and destroy you and run you out of the neighborhood!! how many times has anyone complaint about any one in the negihborhood, it goes know where!!

maybe the parks dept isnt only spaking of us “DIRT BAG” bikers, maybe they also speak of all the DIRT BAGS who park there cars up on the fields during softball or little league. or maybe they are talking about the DIRT BAG airplane guys who drive all their cars through the gate to the fields. maybe one of them did it. so dont be so quick to judge us DIRTBAG BIKERS until i see a 100 comment thread on the airplane guys and parking up near the baseball fields.

That is true WHY are the guys with the airplanes allowed to open that gate and drive their cars back into the fields. Why is that allowed? No one should be exempt from the law!

The AP guys have the keys to the gate and open and relock it when they come and go. They drive up a PAVED roadway to the field. Do you honestly not see a difference? Last year I posted something about their speeds coming and going, passed the skate park, and they must have taken note because they go nice and slow now. (that I have seen) They are not exempt from the law, they obey it. They are not damaging everything in their path.

First of all Dom as a member of the airplane Society we do not drive our cars on to the baseball fields nor any where near them.We have a designated road to our flying field just behind Seba Park. and i can assure you we work hand and hand with the parks dept to ensure the maintenance and safety of our field and road.

WHY does it always have to be us! How many other people use those fields everyday, so unless you have proof stop putting the blame on our neighbors.

NYPD, Parks Police should coordinate on weekends and weekday afternoons to start arresting them and confiscating the vehicles. Enough is Enough! They can’t out run them if there are enough police. And if they are running from the police, refusing to stop – shoot ‘em! They have no respect for anyone here. The Avenue is a nightmare every weekend. When is it going to be stopped? It’s not like they are sneaking around, straight up the middle of the Ave on one wheel, how is it that they can not be caught?

because everyone knows someone down here to get their sh*t bag kids and young adults (hate to even call them that) off the hook … the naive mentality on this matter is mindboggling ….

All the 63rd would have to do on any Friday, Saturday or Sunday is drive up and ticket all the cars and trucks that are parked on the grass outside the fields. And if anyone tried to move their car before a ticket was issued, the police should tell them to stay where they are until the ticket is issued. That would stop people from parking on the grass right off the bat! The back weeds are aonther story and more difficult to handle, but if they try going after them it may slow down or stop all together.

I just don’t get why we can’t seem to get ONE police car stationed in the Beach. Of course we don’t want them harrassing people, but a presence and ticketing etc. when it is for public safety. Every few weeks I have to spend the day around Church Ave/Flatbush Ave and Wow, there are 2 STANDING BEAT COPS on EVERY corner all down Church Ave. I realize that it is a much higher crime area, but on the middle of a Sat afternoon it’s mostly families and people out shopping and there are police everywhere. Making them all feel comfortable and protected. And yet we can’t seem to get a single car, or a single beat cop.

    • Shoot 'em!

It does affect me, and everyone else. It effects the quality of life for everyone. And no one has to confront you or try and talk to you about it. Talk about arrogant, how important do you think you are? Your wrong. It’s against the law for many reasons. So there you go officers, Dom will be back there Sun., he promised. If he doesn’t heed warnings to stop, shoot him.

Thomas … you may be riding in the back, but I have seen riders that are familiar from the neighborhood riding on the fields. Calling people scumbags is not the way to resolve the problem.
