We Deserve a First Class Park! Comfort Station OpensLew Fidler said it best it is “Not cool to ride dirt bikes over fields and destroy them, not cool to graffiti the bathroom – we deserve a first class park” This is “Your park, your place, your field, lets keep it beautiful, lets keep it great for this community.” Parks has said they will be there each day to open and close the comfort station. Also that they will be stopping to check the building during the day.

It is absolutely great that we have a bathroom there now, however too bad that the Parks Department has been closing it on or around 6pm. The last few games for the Little league, the boys had to run behind the containers to relieve themselves and the game watchers had to hold it in and suffer or run to their homes. Not very good for the 6pm games :(

Why after closing the bathrooms in the city Parks they have to open a bathroom here. It is wonderful for our kids playing ball in the fields but Let’s face it eventually it will become a burned out,garbage filled eyesore. The parks department will eventually stop coming down to open it and lock it up at night, mainly because the locks will eventually be broken.
This bathroom will end up like all the others, it was just a way to shut us up and not give us what we really need a traffic light by the school. It still amazes me how you can go into some neighborhoods and it seems like there is a traffic light on every corner. Can you just imagine the fuss that would be made in some areas if there was not a light on the corners near their schools! Why can’t we have both a bathroom AND a traffic light by the school?

I agree with alot of what you say. I, too, believe that Parks will stop coming down to open them, or will ‘forget’ many days to do so. Parks used to be a good career, not anymore. Now it is only welfare to work. They are all working against their will, and doing a horrible job. So, the locks will be broken out of peoples frustration at not having access to the restrooms. Then they will be left open and well….you know the rest. And if you see anyone vandalizing them have fun calling the cops. The 61 will say call the 63 and vice versa. The light situation is ridiculous. When do they do the traffic studies? Sun am? The light at Seba is a joke. I pushed it the other day to cross with a baby cariiage from the park. It turned red, but I am glad that I didn’t proceed because a woman in a white SUV, with kids inside, sailed right thru like it was nothing.

I am so happy that the new bathrooms are being utilized but as I was just walking on the avenue about 20 minutes ago I saw a homeless man come out of the men’s room. He of course has every right to use it but Sorry, after seeing that I do not want my children using those bathrooms…sorry This is not made up I honestly did see him than he got on a bike and rode down the Avenue.

I’m not surprised, been saying for a long time that there are camps all over back weeds, from Burnett all the way to the other side where people are sleeping. No one ever reacts to it, as if because you can’t see them from the Ave. that they are not really there. Tarps, tents, campfires. Lots of garbage. Not kids. Now that there are restrooms it should get pretty crowded back there. lol, they should have put in a shower. Funny how the parks dept/cops were all over the kids for wrestling back there and they put an end to the paintball, but this they ignore.

Are you for real? Do you think that homeless camping out in Central Park would be tolerated? Or in Prospect Park? There are millions of tax dollars devoted to helping the homeless. Shelters. Drug and alcohal programs. Job programs. Hard working people who feel on unfortunate times you say? Junkies and people who couldn’t hold down a job is more like it. You really think we should take our leftovers and go back weeds and make friends with them? ROFL

And as far as them ‘going with dignity’ how about the body lice, head lice and bedbugs? What about the fact that alot of homeless are mentally ill? Would you send you kid into the restroom with them?
