Wasnt this house for sale? At least it was pretty recently. The owners wanted CASH ONLY. Maybe they realized they couldnt get the cash :/

  • Jenn

Great Job GBFD and FDNY. Everyone did a great job getting water on the fire and getting it out quickly. Thankfully no one was hurt.

    • Anonymous

From the pictures it looks to me that the Vollies were the only ones there at the time. Their lines are being stretched and then water on the fire, where was the city. Were they intially called or called after the control of fire of lost.

      • Jenn

321 was actually first in. The vollies had the second line in on the fire. The city came in on Noel and the vollies came from frank. They worked together very well and got the fire under control together.

      • Anonymous

The truth of the matter is the city was there first!!!!

Property is owned by Yuri Gokhberg,125 Oceana Dr. Bklyn N.Y.

Call j&d construction they will build the house back up..

  • Bravest

    Good job.

    A few questions:

Did the GFD have permission to open that line pushing the fire BACK into the home? FDNY was entering the home and there were reports of people trapped.
Why is the GFD not in the FDNY “run downs” as a unit. There were 4 engines and 3 ladders assigned and a rescue and squad.
    How is the GFD dispatched?
4 ff’s on a hose? The nozzle man center of gravity seems fine. Whats with that?

    • Bravest

Also sorry to be a nag but how do you communicate with brooklyn dispatch or fire-ground? We listen but do not hear GFD ever.

    • Beachrat4life

Gbfd was the first to put water on that house. I was standing right there and they were the ones protecting all the other properties! Fdny went in through the front and as soon as they put water on the house fire the volleys turned their attention over to surrounding objects on fire! There was alot of communication between all the chiefs, battalion 33 lt of 321 and the Gbfd chief. Please remember they are the only volunteer fire department in brooklyn ! They deserve to be awarded not bashed because they put their lives on the line for FREE !

      • Bravest

I’m not knocking them just curious on how this all works with the volunteer units.

There was a lot of apparatus assigned and if fdny was entering from the front and doing a primary search for people the gfd was pushing fire and steam right back into the house right back into them. creating a very dangerous situation a big no no.

      • Anonymous

How does the GBFD communicate with the battalion or the officer from 321

    • Former Vol

The community calls them in an emergency which is now ten digits 718-332-3333, used to be 332-3333.

FDNY does not have the gbfd as a unit thats why they are not in the run downs.

      • Beachrat4life

If the volleys were causing major problems don’t you think someone would have said something. They did the right thing

      • Anonymous

For the safety of EVERYONE don’t you think if the doesn’t have them in the run down or they are not on the same page that they could be causing a hazardous condition and putting people and propety in harms way

        • Bravest

I was looking for honest answers not a bickering back and forth. I did not intend for the bickering.

I think it is great that the community still has this department. I live in new york city like the rest of you and have been listening to brooklyn and fire calls for years this would be really the first time I heard about the gfd at an actual box and was very curious on how incident command works.

    • JC

GBFD’s hose stream was directed on the exterior of the structure, and at no time directed into the structure. As soon as FDNY members laddered the building their hose stream was directed to the shed as requested by FDNY Chief.

Bravest, How bout you ask the vollies directly your questions. Some of the people on this blog are idiots as demonstrated by there comments about people who lived in this house.I beleive they have a website and a fb page you can write to them on. Also why not see if you can give them a call.

  • Antony Tcherepanov

Well I’m one of the kids that live in the house. The House fire started from the stairs and crawled upstairs and traveled from the floor to the ceiling of the first floor. Making these ridiculous comments about Russians and Ruskies just make you look immature. Who cares about russian people living in GB? Honestly.. Everyone got out safety and the Landlord looked soo happy when the house was hosed down. We have no idea what is gonna happen and the Landlord in my opinion is a complete asshole who just wants money and trust me.. he will probably ask us to pay for the damages while we tell him to fuck off and build another house.

    • Me

Antony..I Am Glad You are all ok!!!! It Should not matter what people are in times like this!!! We are a Community that always Helps our own!!! It Should not matter if they were russian…They were People!!! Some people just can’t except Change!!!!

  • Anonymous

Antony, Your family has lived in that house for years! We are all glad that you guys got out alive. It could have turned out very differently. That really is the bottom line. If it weren’t for the passerby’s things could have turned out very badly. Some of the people on here have no morals.

  • best heart

  • GBAnonGB

Isn’t it said that the very people who claim to be such a great close knit community are so against their very own neighbors? Who cares what they are as long as they are good people. I see alot of the GB Irish are worse than the people you don’t want living in the neighborhood. Stop drinking, take care of your own, and stop worrying about everyone else’s business. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. I am glad these people made it out ok. We are all God’s children, and I am glad He was watching over them. Will there be any fundraisers or donations taken to help them start over? If anyone is doing anything, please post info.

    • Antony Tcherepanov

I’m not sure about any fundraisers for us. We only have a hotel for 2 nights and we asked American Red Cross for more of a benefit and they offered us an apartment in Manhattan.

      • GBAnonGB

Could you post what you guys immediately need (sizes and ages of everyone) and where we can donate clothes and whatever else? Maybe you can ask one of the real estates or the church or the vollies hall to accept donations on your behalf. Please keep us posted.

        • Antony Tcherepanov

We don’t need anything at the moment, we saved a couple of clothing and bought some new clothing with the credit card American Red Cross has handed to us. I don’t have any idea on whats going to happen after the hotel rooms run out. Thanks to everyone who was able to support us.

    • anonymous

While I forgive you for your ignorant Irish bashing comment, because we are all God’s children..The facts seem to lead to a greedy landlord. Who took a single family house and converted it into illegal 2 family..He is not one of your neighbors. He lives in an apartment on Oceana Drive.I am happy to see everyone got out safe and can only hope that his insurance company will refuse to pay any claim he might file..Absentee landlords have always been a problem, and a blight on any community.

      • GBAnonGB

I apologize if my comment came off as Irish bashing, it was not intended that way at all. I believe that all people should be equal. What I meant is that GB is a predominantly Irish area, and not very accepting of others intruding the neighborhood. We are all Gods children whether we are Irish, Italian, Jewish, Russian or whatever else. Lets all just be friends, care about each other, and live and let live in peace. It would make our world a better place.

    • anonymous1

Fundraiser sounds good, why don’t you get one started.

  • Anonymous

Does anyone else find it strange that the worse case scenario for a fire happened here? The only stairs and more importantly, the only means of escape from the 2nd floor were on the outside of the house and on fire. What could have started it? The Tcherepanov family could have virtually been trapped and died. Luckily they were able to escape from a window. I’m so happy they are all alive and well. Houses can be replaced, people can’t! Maybe it’s just my suspicious nature but something doesn’t seem right here. Especially after all the talk and finger pointing about the house that collapsed.

    • Antony Tcherepanov

Well, We walked around inspecting the damages and we came to a conclusion that one of the people that USE to live upstairs made an electrical wire that is connected to an outlet right by the door which cased the stairs to go on fire first. The man doesn’t live their anymore but due to his poor electrical skills he caused the house to burn down. The people downstairs walks out their front door. The Person upstairs jumped out the side window near the stairs and luckily was in good condition. everyone is now safe. I think that it could of been planned but we aren’t exactly sure if someone did anything to start this fire.

      • Anonymous

Thanks Antony. I would hate to think someone would deliberately do this.

      • anonymous

I think that the fire dept will inspect and the actual cause of the fire will be determined, I don’t believe that as much as you look around the cause will not be known without an investigation to find the cause of the fire.

        • Anonymous

The cause of the fire was something that caused it. The fire department will determine the cause of what caused it. To determine the cause an investigation into the cause will tell us what caused the fire. Because the cause is unknown at this time the cause is a mystery. This is a cause for alarm since we do not know the cause of the fire at this time. I have cause to believe that the cause of the fire is what caused it.

          Thank You!

  • anonymous1

The owner should be fined excessively for this.
He apparently bought the house to create an illegal two family house, all the time living in another neighborhood. Next time if you want to create an unsafe condition do it in your own neighborhood.Your carelessness caused a fire that caused life a threatening situation not only to your tenants, but also to all of the houses nearby.

    • Anonymous

Thank god everyone got out of the house safe and none of the nehibors were hurt..Those brighton beach people are a bunch of scam artists, bye houses around brighton stay over there..They tried to work there way into breezy but they weren’t having none of that…

  • Beachwalker

I’m wondering about the dispatch log at the top of the page. Is anyone else disturbed by the fact that it says Noel COURT? I am quite sure that the calls made by neighbors were to Noel AVE. but it seems to me that it easily could have caused a delay in the response. I have always found it really silly that news stations can never get the street names right down here, but mistakes by 911 can kill people. Does this have anything to do with the apparent shortcomings and gliches by the Fathead Midget Mayor’s new 911 system? You know, the one he refuses to release the report on? Isn’t it ridiculous that 911 can’t get an address right? They should let the Dept. of Finance help them with the addresses, Lord knows the tax bills always come through. (ditto DEP)

    • Anonymous

I;d love to agree with you but, the orginal address that the units were assigned to, on top of the report says Noel AVE not Court All the info from the fire reports is typed in as the reports are given so it was either a typo or the person giving it was saying court. As bad as the system is it would not recognize or accept Noel Court as an address

      • Beachwalker

It looked to me as if the call was taken as AVE but dispatched as COURT. Thanks for the info, lol, he’s still a fathead!

    • Anonymous

The dispatch log is obviously not an official FDNY transcript/report and only a “buff” paging system… systems like this are typed by “buffs” that listen to FDNY’s radio and type the info into the computer and send it via text/pager to people that are subscribers to the system. Believe it or not this is a huge hobby… many times these subscribers will get the notification of an all hands fire and respond to the scene to watch the fire be extinguished.

      • Anonymous

A big signal that shows this to be one of those systems is “NY283″ after the typed reports… “NY283″ is the username of the person doing the actual typing.

        • Beachwalker

Wow, that’s interesting. Thanks for the info. How big of a hobby is it? I mean, how many show up at a typical fire?

  • Paul

I used to be able to read the “Hidden due to low comment rating. Click here to see.” Now I can’t. Is there something I can do?

  • Anonymous

Paul, I too used to be able to read the hidden due to low comments and can’t now. I’m told Michelle B’s comments are quite enraging. I feel sorry for her husband Billy.

  • Paul

Thanks, but how do we get to read the hidden comments?

    • Anonymous

The web master appears to be using a program called WordPress for automatic comment rating and some pages appear to have an option set that adds “;?tw_p=twt” onto the command line for the Widget that Internet Explorer can’t handle. Try downloading Mozilla Firefox which is another browser and seems to get around the problem so that you can read the crappy comments along with the liked ones.

  • Outraged

A gang of drunken stoned teenagers attack three people last night on Bijou Avenue off Gerritsen. Where is the story about that.

  • concerned

More than likely, the building owner wanted cash, and couldn’t find a buyer because he knew, as did most people looking to buy, that the second floor was an illegal death trap – and this fire only reinforces that point. Where was the second way out for anyone trapped on the second floor, especially if this fire had occurred at 3 a.m.?

  • Concerned

There is a house on Beacon with Permits in the window. Where can I check to see if they are legit?

Do you actually KNOW who this is? I try very hard to ignore her (or his) comments. Fortunatly, for some reason, when I click to view a hidden comment lately, they don’t display which is probably good for my BP anyway! It’s hard to believe that someone living here would write the vicious comments that she has written on other threads.

    Who is this person???????

Get her out of the beach…

  • Antony Tcherepanov

Now the beach is a much better place? What kind of person are you? You say the beach is a better place when a family just lost their house.

  • the honey "bees"

I feel sorry for them too!!!!

  • Anonymous

No, Anthony, they were talking about someone else who was writing nasty comments but as it turned out it was only someone pretending to be that person so all the comments were taken down. It had to do with the Beach being a better place because they moved, nothing to do with your family. We are all happy that no one was hurt in the fire, glad your family could get out in time. How are you all doing now?

  • Antony Tcherepanov

Were doing good so far, Only issue now is that we were moved to a shelter Located at Brownsville, Carnarise. My mother recently lost her job so shes trying to find a new one but other then that we are doing good so far.
