    Long live the king!

Burger King was there a long time, I hope something moves in to take the spot soon.

What year would we say BK opened? I recall bowling at rainbow and going there to eat…1974?

Yeah, that is exactly what is needed there. An Irish Pub.

I don’t understand all the thumbs down on your post, other Anonymous. Is it the word ‘Irish’? There are fantastic Irish Pub style restaurants all over the city and they serve great food in a nice, cozy, friendly atmosphere. I think it would be a great idea.

I’m going to miss the place. No lines , no crowds and junk food though it may be, it was delicious.

I’m with Mamabear…Starbucks + drive thru sounds good. But, more likely a CVS or Walgreens…they are popping up EVERYWHERE!!!

Cosidering the location, what can really take over? There are 3 gas stations, the sanitation dept., a sewer plant, a storage place and a nursing home. Most of the people that work in these facilities need a quick breakfast or lucnch either there or to go. I don’t believe anything other than another fast food place, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, or a drug store chain will do well. Most people didn’t sit in Burger King except for morning coffee and a bit of breakfast, not so much for lucnch and dinner. Most of their businees was the drive thru and people took the food home to eat. For the past few years Knapp street has smelled like an ongoing fart! I wouldn’t want to sit in a diner or restaurant there trying to enjoy a meal with the smell. As for Anon’s idea about a Greek diner, I would love it, but I wouldn’t enjoy a meal there with the smell.

Yeah, I would love a diner for a breakfast, but you’re right, the smell at times is horrible. What a shame.

Anon, I haven’t eaten fast food in over 30 years except for the occasional KFC. I love their extra crispy. So it wouldn’t really matter to me if they put up another fast food place. Although I would like to see Chicken Delight come back. We used to order from them all the time in the 60′s and 70′s. From what I remember, they were pretty good.

Yeah, I think a Boston Market would do very well there. The nearest one is on Ralph & Ave. J.

I would love to see a Boston Market in that location but I’d be very surprised to see any food establishment move into that spot given the fact that it’s so close to a sewage plant.

The sewer plant was already there when BK opened, and it used to smell ALOT worse around there. Amazing that they opened in the first place and that they stayed open so long.

BK was there for a long time. I don’t think anything will take over too soon, especially a restaurant or another fast food place. If I were to open a restaurant I would survey the area first to see whats around. I would not open up a restaurant next to the sanitation dept. and a sewer plant. Everyone likes to try new places to eat, but if someone told me about a new place to try and told me it was right next to the sanitation dept. and sewer plant….I’D PASS!

Stan, you’re lucky that’s all you got from Victorias. Last time I ordered from them I checked the food before I paid for it. The Manicotti was A slop plate of rancid cheese, the Benny burger was raw and the Calamari was rubber. I gave the food back to the driver and told him I would never order from them again.

BK & McD’s are a dime a dozen! I wouldn’t care if they all close. I have never eaten in any of them. I prefer to cook my own food.

I sat in them with friends from time to time and had coffee. I didn’t care for the way the food looked or the service. I never said they suck, I said I prefer to cook my own food. It’s more satifying and healthier.

I really don’t patronize these places all that often but sometimes I wake up and have an intense craving for an egg Mcmuffin and a hash brown.

That way all the Old Gather Inn Crowd will have a new Gormet Restaurant to dine at over the Holiday’s ,and we know who they are !

Irish Kevin, your such an ass! You post about the old Gather, say how great the old crowd was and then you throw around insults like the above. Which is it? Or do you just fancy yourself to be so much better than everyone else?

I have been called worse. However that was by someone who had the intrepidity to identify themself with a name. Using an anonyomus is being a computer or on line coward.BTW it is very popular these days.So I guess you are just following the crowd. My Name is Kevin, when you or if you ever get the mettle to post your name than we will be on equal terms. A few cold ones at the Inn why not !

Nudie bar? Every one complains about the decline of the neighborhood, so a nudie bar is the last thing we need. If in fact that’s what they’re thinking of puting there get your signs ready and protest against it. Bars like that bring nothing but scum to neighborhoods.
