We have no idea what makes Aster court special; but today the Department of Transportation painted stop lines and Crossings at every intersection of Aster Court.

Because “A” is the first letter of the alphabet? Perhaps “Bevy” will be next.

    A call to 311 does it all…

  • anonymous

Because DOT has an endless supply of white paint and plans to use it all….Also, all those cars parked on the Left side, of the street. Will have to park on the Right side,Like the rest of N.Y.C. The signs are sure to follow..

  • Kelly D

Did you ever think all courts will be done, and the start at “A”. DAH !!!

  • TCB

I hope the rest of the blocks get this treatment considering I almost get side swiped on a daily basis… Although, if a giant red sign isn’t stopping people (or even slowing them down the slightest bit), I’m not sure what giant white letters will do.

  • Biff Tannen

Maybe the large letters are for poor sighted people ?

To me it looks like a summons gig for traffic enforcement.
If your bumper is in the crosswalk you get a ticket.$$$

    • Pixie

It is about time. Bring on the Summons for the Idiots that either can read or really don’t care. They deserve a Ticket !!

      • anonymous

One gigantic ticket blitz. To pay the City back for all the wasted Halloween P.D.overtime.Keep complaining folks, you will eventually reap the DOT whirlwind

  • Anonymous

Wait till you see where they’re putting the bike lane.

  • Leona

    Who really cares????

  • Irish Kevin

Maybe this is a way of letting Drivers know they are going in the right Direction. After all this is the Beach we are talking about ..LOL

  • anonymous

Another useless way to spend our money. I love the way the city can squander our tax money on useless garbage and we just accept it.

  • Pixie

I wonder if they are going to paint Ebony in the Tamaqua ?

  • Anonymous

Well Betsy, looks like we’ll have to close the barn doors for good and let the horses out to paster. The beach is finally catching up to the rest of the world.

The reason Aster Ct. was painted is the same reason why in 14 years Aster Ct. between Allen and Bijou has been paved twice, someone from DOT lives on the block. The same block is always plowed at least twice when it snows and rest of us can wait for days.

    • Mr Murphy

      This can’t be True !

    • trainman

That’s not completely true anon. Yes my street has been repaved twice and they do plowed very often but they were also kind enough to shovel our sidewalks and driveways. Just the other day, for Christmas, I observed some DOT employees shining up the manhole covers and the street lights on my block. What a wonderful Christmas surprise. Keep up the good work DOT and I personally wish all of you a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

A few years ago DOT posted no parking signs on Gotham Ave. between Gerritsen Ave. and the water so they could repave the streets. Well, they repaved between Gerritsen and Fane but not the rest. When they were asked why, they told us that Gotham Ave. between Fane Ct. and the water is a private street and they could not repave it. I wish that statement were true, then we could keep the fishermen out in the summer that take up valuable parking while the rest of us recieve tickets for parking on the wrong side of the street because no spots are available.

    • Mr Murphy

Seems that the Right hand does not know what the Left hand is doing .

    • Anonymous

i wish the whole neighborhood was private

      • Mr Murphy

Sure.! Than your taxes would be like Long Island. Private Sanitation,Security,Etc as well as HOA fees. I see everyone likes this idea,Now all you have to do is pay for it ????

        • Anonymous

Sure we may need to then pay more for a few services but as it is now the city seems to neglect our neighborhood, with private companies we’ll at least get what we pay for, not to mention you can’t really put a price on the added security that goes along with a gated community.

      • Irish Kevin

First of all if the Neighborhood were private most People who live in the Beach Now could not afford to. Second of all like Murphy said the HOA Fees would be astronomical. Down here in Florida the HOAs are causing People to loose their homes and driving away potential new buyers. One should be careful what one wishes for.

      • Kelly D

For once a good suggestion. A gated Community would send all the Trailer Trash and Wiggers Packing.Good way to Clean up the Beach.

  • Anonymous

It took Irish Kevin & Kelly D. 3 days to sober up.

  • Anonymous

@ Kelly D…….where are you moving to ?

  • Irish Kevin

After second thoughts a gated community would keep the Trailer Dwellers and Wiggers in the Beach,Serving the same purpose as walls and razor wires do in Prisons.

Waiting Room Weather a bit cool today. Sunny Clear Mostly Sunny

Geeze! All I did was pass on what DOT said about Gotham Ave. between Fane Ct. and the water. Sorry it caused so much controversy. Really, it was just a silly comment on my part about being private. Besides, knowing the city, if it were a private street all these years, they would probably want back pay from all the residence that live here for garbage disposal.

Another slow day for GB News.

Another Day with no new news.
I used to lie in bed and imagine what would happen if there was a zombie attack.

The problem I see is that the stop line is behind the fence line and you can’t see anything side to side with those fences.

    • Mr Murphy

Did you ever notice the white fence on Dictum & Bijou ? you cannot see anything to the Left. Same Problem.

Why are the post on here off by an hour? It’s 3:05pm, but it will post at 4:05pm.

    you’re not special!

Maybe the city should re-budget their money to pay for important things, like say EDUCATION. They could paint stop lines on every corner where there’s already a STOP SIGN, but public schools can’t even afford enough books to teach the students. Just maybe we should rethink our priorities and find a way to save money for the schools that will educate the children who will lead our country in the future.
If you couldn’t already tell, I don’t think these stop lines were entirely necessary and there are most definitely more important things to be spending money on.

  • […] It started on Aster Ct but now every block in the new section is getting stop lines. The NYC DOT painted the outline of stop lines on every block. […]

They forgot the signs that say “You don’t own the perceived parking space in front of your house. The City does; therefore, ANYONE can park there.”

    • The Beacher

What does that have to do with anything ? People in the Beach AKA; Beachers believe that the space in front of their house is their own private parking spot. I have seen people sweeping the street in front of their house.yelling at dog owners who happen to let their dog go in this same street, and the best is yelling at dogs that go when they walk by off a leash. The Beacher mentality has been around fore quite some time and still is alive and well I see.

  • Pixie
