We have no idea what makes Aster court special; but today the Department of Transportation painted stop lines and Crossings at every intersection of Aster Court.

Because “A” is the first letter of the alphabet? Perhaps “Bevy” will be next.

Because DOT has an endless supply of white paint and plans to use it all….Also, all those cars parked on the Left side, of the street. Will have to park on the Right side,Like the rest of N.Y.C. The signs are sure to follow..

I hope the rest of the blocks get this treatment considering I almost get side swiped on a daily basis… Although, if a giant red sign isn’t stopping people (or even slowing them down the slightest bit), I’m not sure what giant white letters will do.

Maybe the large letters are for poor sighted people ?

To me it looks like a summons gig for traffic enforcement.

Another useless way to spend our money. I love the way the city can squander our tax money on useless garbage and we just accept it.

Well Betsy, looks like we’ll have to close the barn doors for good and let the horses out to paster. The beach is finally catching up to the rest of the world.

The reason Aster Ct. was painted is the same reason why in 14 years Aster Ct. between Allen and Bijou has been paved twice, someone from DOT lives on the block. The same block is always plowed at least twice when it snows and rest of us can wait for days.

      This can’t be True !

That’s not completely true anon. Yes my street has been repaved twice and they do plowed very often but they were also kind enough to shovel our sidewalks and driveways. Just the other day, for Christmas, I observed some DOT employees shining up the manhole covers and the street lights on my block. What a wonderful Christmas surprise. Keep up the good work DOT and I personally wish all of you a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

A few years ago DOT posted no parking signs on Gotham Ave. between Gerritsen Ave. and the water so they could repave the streets. Well, they repaved between Gerritsen and Fane but not the rest. When they were asked why, they told us that Gotham Ave. between Fane Ct. and the water is a private street and they could not repave it. I wish that statement were true, then we could keep the fishermen out in the summer that take up valuable parking while the rest of us recieve tickets for parking on the wrong side of the street because no spots are available.

Sure we may need to then pay more for a few services but as it is now the city seems to neglect our neighborhood, with private companies we’ll at least get what we pay for, not to mention you can’t really put a price on the added security that goes along with a gated community.

I don’t know about Seagate but the people in Breezy Point don’t seem to mind their neighborhood being private.

Brezzy Point is a nice area,The cooperative fees run around $2500.00 per house per year.(Not Bad). This is on top of taxes.

For once a good suggestion. A gated Community would send all the Trailer Trash and Wiggers Packing.Good way to Clean up the Beach.

Geeze! All I did was pass on what DOT said about Gotham Ave. between Fane Ct. and the water. Sorry it caused so much controversy. Really, it was just a silly comment on my part about being private. Besides, knowing the city, if it were a private street all these years, they would probably want back pay from all the residence that live here for garbage disposal.

The problem I see is that the stop line is behind the fence line and you can’t see anything side to side with those fences.

I hope Oogie insn’t playing behind that whit fence. He might run out into the street and get hit by a car if the driver doesn’t see the two stop signs and the big white letters in the street.

I’m sorry, but it was Oogie that painted those white stop signs in the streets. He will be out there tomorrow with a pail, soap and water, and a scrub brush to remove them.

Maybe the city should re-budget their money to pay for important things, like say EDUCATION. They could paint stop lines on every corner where there’s already a STOP SIGN, but public schools can’t even afford enough books to teach the students. Just maybe we should rethink our priorities and find a way to save money for the schools that will educate the children who will lead our country in the future.
If you couldn’t already tell, I don’t think these stop lines were entirely necessary and there are most definitely more important things to be spending money on.

  • [...] It started on Aster Ct but now every block in the new section is getting stop lines. The NYC DOT painted the outline of stop lines on every block. [...]
