My heart goes out to the people who lived there. I hope everyone is okay. Fire is so devastating! Everyone should REALLY take note and think about the Firefighters going in. They never really know what they are heading into, and they bravely head in through smoke and flames to search for life and battle the blaze. And that no good son of a bitch Fathead Midget Mayor cuts the manpower in the firehouses and is trying to take away their yearly PENSION check, relentlessly calling it a Christmas bonus, when it is from their PENSION funds. I am not the spouse of a firefighter or the daughter of one, but I know fair is fair and the mayor is playing dirty pool. I can’t imagine what it is like to have your house on fire, the loss of everything that you own and the memories you hold dear. Thank God for the Firemen! Hope that you never need them but if you do you want them to be there quickly and be able to do their jobs as safely as possible. They too are husbands, fathers, brothers, sons. They risk their lives everytime they go to work. Take the time to write to the mayor and tell him to stop nickle and diming them! Stop insulting them! Tell him to cut a chef or 2 instead!

I really don’t understand the thumbs down on this post..Maybe someone could explain it to me…For those of you who know nothing of your Fire Dept. I would like to direct your attention to the run down of companies that responded.. Due to our Fire protection being so thinned out,and the existence of a 2nd fire in the area..Allot of these Fire Companies were called from the North Flatbush area of Brooklyn miles and minutes away..Costing much needed help to be delayed and the fire to spread quickly.Other Companies were relocated from Queens putting their areas at greater risk…I don’t understand why people are negative on Fire Protection and yet went ballistic on snow removal.I just don’t get it

I love the way the Mayor begins to cut the budget by stealing funds from the FDNY and NYPD retirees. One would think that in tough times you would begin to balance the budget by taking from those that take,take,take and give nothing. How about we start with the entitled class? Lets see , we can start by auditing those on the dole and in housing to see if they have nice cars, cable, and other non-essential items. If you can afford an expensive car / SUV you do not have to be on the dole. There are many in this city that give nothing, it is blatantly obvious from the last few posts on this site that the FDNY gives a lot and deserve the benefits they earn. This city and nation is spiraling out of control, any nation that treats the productive worse than the entitled is doomed. Lets hope he does not get away with this and this stunt like many he has got away with add to bad reputation when running for the white house.

I can’t believe that you got a thumbs down on that post! I, too, am sick and tired of supporting the lazy. I have no problem with social programs that help out those in need, but I resent the Escalades parked all around the housing projects and food stamps being used for caviar, when working people are struggling. Ditto on the cable TV. There is every opportunity for people to get off the dole, education, which costs us all a bundle and many refuse to take part in, then subsidized college (with free remedial courses because they wouldn’t do any work in the first 12 years of school) all kinds of job training. Tax payers are tired of all this and then to be told to balance the budget people are going to be laid off and they are going after pension funds, it’s sickening.

Beachwalker : Thank you for all of your comments on the danger and risk involved in any fire..You really do not know what you are facing, and anything can go wrong in a matter of seconds. Also your comment on what Fathead calls a Christmas Bonus.. He well knows he is mistaken and not telling the whole truth about it..It is a benefit that was given in return for the UFA and the PBA bailing out the City back in 1988..The City got MILLIONS from both Pension Funds to balance its budget, in return for this yearly payment..And now he has the nerve to publicly insult us and lie about it, to the news media and the public…It most certainly is not a Christmas or Chanukah bonus..It is a benefit WE, as Unions paid for….Like my Mother would say “I wouldn’t believe him if he told me the sky is blue”
