Five Days Later: This Guy

DSC_1772
While all if not most of the beach has been plowed Canton Ct. between Cyrus and Seba Av has not been plowed because of this unregistered – no plate – range rover.

Coming in via email

This selfish car owner(who was part of your cone story) left his car there the night of the storm and walked home. Now he is not even home to move the car. No effort has been made. Now we are one of the only blocks that cant get plowed. We still have THREE feet of snow on the block! They did put a single Delaware plate on it yesterday maybe so it does not get towed. Multiple calls to 311 and to the 61 desk have gone answered

He needs his ass beat, or the car removed piece by piece. He has told some people that it won’t start, told some people that he lost the key… I don’t care what the excuse is but it has got to go.

I reported it to 311 twice now. A man had to CARRY his sick son to the doctor because there was no other way out of here.

pour water on the car wait for it to freeze & repeat

    • Kelly

Two wrongs don’t make a right.

      • dvsness

What, Kelly, would make a ‘right’? Do you really think a person too arrogant and rude to even make an attempt to gig out his vehicle is going to goo door to door on Canton and offer reimbursement for lost wages? Other blocks nearby were cleared while our block was (and still is) overlooked due to this man’s disregard for others.

        • Kelly

Now really ! This surprises you,Living in the Beach for years I have seen the Ignorance of the Parents passed down to the Children. We have some very considerate and nice neighbors as well as an equal amount of people who just don’t give a sh-t. This is just the way it was and still is.

          • dvsness

I haven’t lived here for years as you have, and in all honesty, after several recent events I’m pretty sure I don’t want to. But to indicate that taking some kind of revenge for this blatantly disrespectful behavior is off base, try selling that to those on the block living paycheck to paycheck… and getting a very meager one this week.

          • Kelly

Tell ya What, you got that right. This place right now is at a real low point as far as the residents behavior goes. When asked where I live I say near Mill Basin. This will effect property values in the future.

          • Anonymous

Cars were scattered around the entire City preventing plows from moving, this neighborhood is no worse. Give me a break, this car is stuck like hundreds of others in NYC.

People keep bitching about the neighborhood, when its one of the better places in the City. Sometimes I wonder if its a stratergy to keep perspective buyers away being that this place is a steal. lots of land, low prices, good school, etc. When someone asks where I live I say Gerritsen Beach, if they mention the issue with kids, then I tell them there are some young punks that all think they’re Eminem, but they’re basically harmless. Its a quiet, clean place with friendly neighbors.

          • Kelly

If you think the way these kids are acting is Harmless you need to get in touch with reality. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior. This is exactly whats wrong here in the Beach, a lot of People think this place is so Good and Nice but refuse to accept the fact that things like this are going on. Maybe one of these out of control punks might be your kid. That would explain your comments. Stop the excuses and get control of your children before someone else does.

          • Anonymous

For the most part harmless, I’m not originally from the neighborhood but pelting buses with snowballs is a New York tradition. I would agree that if these kids start hitting cars and people then folks need to step in and spank, call cops etc. But I’m not going to pile on the nieghborhood because of that. I also hate littering, for the most part this is a clean neighborhood, the weeds litter is not just the kids, I have yelled at grown men I’ve seen littering in the park; men not from this neighborhood. My daughter is home most of the time and when she hangs with friends they are not from GB. I’m trying to keep things in perspective.

          • Anonymous

Tradition./Spank? I think you need to stop Spank—ing

          • Kelly

I really Do not want to debate this issue. All I am saying is that the way Children act is a direct result of their upbringing. The fact remains this type of behavior is going on and it is getting worse. When I visit friends in other communities and states and tell them about this, they are shocked. That is unless they live in the Hoods of LA or DC. My son and daughter are both in Collage on scholsrships one at The University of Florida and the other at NYU. They never acted this way when they were growing up in the Beach. The old saying you get what you give most of the time holds true.

            SHHHHH!

Shush, we’ve got gangstas, gangstas I tell ya!

          • rich

i bet this owner of this car would love to come back and find all 4 tires slashed and his windows broke , maybe next time he would think twice but I dont think so he sounds like a asshole who dont care

          • anonymous

The owner of the car isnt a jerk in anyway he tried to get the car out ASAP . And slashing tires and breaking windows isnt the way to go . How would you feel if you came out and that has happened to your car .. !!

  • WOODSY

Call the LANDROVER car company it would make a great commercial ,Maybe they will sue the the reg owner

  • gbproud

    Rip the plate off

  • GBMom

Dig out the back of it and have it towed. A sick child shouldn’t have to suffer because of someone arrogance and disregard for others.

    • GBMom

Delaware plate? Thats funny, because their other vehicles (if it’s the person i think it is) are registered to Florida & they live in NY- hmm…insurance fraud?

      • dvsness

The car belongs to 60 Canton. I don’t know about the other plates associated with that address, as I’ve never paid much attention, but I would not be surprised.

        • Great!

I don’t think insurance fraud is anything new in the city… Unfortunately. If all the cars around here really were people from Florida visiting, well, we’d have a heck of a lot of visitors from the sunshine state!

          • Anonymous

Not to mention all the Russians driving $60G cars that are from Florida… But they don’t know any english, use EBT cards and aren’t even citizens… hmmm.

          • JR

Russians get BMWs 3 days otb… 5th day they get Land Rovers… By the next day they’re set up with a Bentley or Rolls and have million dollar mansions or Co-ops… All of them pay off the DMV for driver licenses… Ruination of Brooklyn is Russians

  • New driver

WOW! How blatently inconsiderate of this person to do this to his neighbors. Is he an old timer? If that’s the case then I could understand a little bit for him leaving it there but not for this amount of time. If they are a younger person then they really should be ashamed of themselves. There is absolutely no excuse for his actions.

  • dvsness

I’d say he is in his early 30s, with no visible impairments other than to his judgement.

  • Anonymous

The guy got stuck – dig him out, he’s right at the edge of the street. When he returns then he can move the car. We don’t know his physical health but if your job depends on it – dig him out.

    • Anon

He’s about 30 years old. I’m sure he could dig himself out if he wanted to. He’s just too arrogant to do so.

      • Anonymous

If that’s the case then I agree he needs to be towed. Since I wasn’t sure I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. We’ve heard of folks having heart attacks as the shovel, didn’t know if he had some kind of condition.

      • TheBitch

THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND THEN THE KEYS WERE LOST !!!!!
        YOU BAFFOOONNNN !!!!

        • Anonymous

well if that was the case you should have gotten off your lazy behind and called a locksmith or a tow truck!!! or paid local kids to shovel you out and then push the car and then push the car off to the side. you were LAZY!!!! and mulitiple people were inconvenienced evenmore so by your lazy ” BAFFOOONNNN ” self. if the car still gave you a problem call the dealership!!!!

      • Anonymous

According to Blockshopper, the owner of 60 Canton is one Konstantin Polishchuk.

        • TheBitch

You people should stop posting peoples names !!! Mean while you are writing from anonymous ha can you say pusspuss !!!! YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF PUSSPUSS !!!!

        • Parent of little ones

For some reason, most russians are very nasty and they have that better than everyone else attitude. We don’t want or need selfish idiots like that in our neighborhood. Losing the key is BS, and so is the car not starting. Call a lock smith, ask anyone on the block to give you a jump start or a hand to shovel it out. I am sure most would, instead of being inconvenienced by an inconsiderated jerk. Most people do the right thing. If this jerk can’t, keep calling 311 and the 61. Have him ticketed daily.

          • anonymous

If you haven’t spoken to the idiots just like you that live there all of you jerks called 311 and the police and no one would do anything !!!! ( as did the owner of the car he had called any number you can think possible) If the owner of the was so bad then why was he there everyday trying to get the car out instead of just sitting home drinking tea everyone on the street saw the owner everyday that it was standing there. And its not most russians its some …same way some AMERICANS , IRISH , SPANISH , AFRICAN AMERICAN ect. Have cockey attitudes like someone owns them something. Every race has a jerk or two but it doesn’t mean everyone is like that. I don’t know what kind of russians you met and why you would be jealous of the things some people work hard to get. I agree some russians are bastards but there are hard working people just like the rest.

          • anonymous

WHAT?? Please translate what you just wrote!

    • Anonymous

Yes we don’t know his health . We need to make excuses for him. We need to be politically correct.

  • Me

Lets not generalize here the stories on this site show a reasonable balance between the douches and those that are decent and help their neighbors. I worked with quite a few people digging out an entire block and with others digging out cars stuck in the street.

The problem with some is they have been conditioned to rely on the state for everything which causes them to seize up when they actually have to do for themselves. Then there are those that are just arrogant, self centered, and have no consideration for others. I am happy my neighbors are the considerate and very helpful ones, I think that stems from a mutual respect.

    • Annon

Rely on the state, we pay f ing taxes. we should rely on them and they should come the fxxx through. 3 sanitantion men and 3 dot men walked into channel 5 news this morning to admit there was a slow down. what the f was that??? people f’ing died. WE HAVE A RIGHT TO BE F’ING MAD. tellyou what, pour pepsi or cola on his f’ing car on canton court and watch it eat away the f’ing paint. this is how i feel right now. f’ing mad!

      • Anonymous

Good for them!!! I hope they don’t get nailed with the taylor law and I hope the rat bastards get whats coming to them

    • madpat

I have lived in the Beach for 18 years and I have met some wonderful people. Of Course I have also met some real jerks. We are senior citizens and the little salt we had from last year did not last. It got so bad I was using kitty litter to try and stop the ice. Well what do you know? My husband was going to the store when he stopped to talk to a neighbor we did not know, who was cleaning his area. I guess my husband asked him if he knew where we could buy some and that wonderful man told my husband not to worry he had enough to give us a bag full. He refused payment. I don’t know his name but its the house on the corner of Aster with the white fence. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Why dint we start a column telling of things like this so the good people of Gerritsen Beach get the credit they deserve?

      • anonymous

There are alot of nice people in your area but there are also a bunch of jerks who make gerritson beach sound like a horrible place to live because of the actions they show. Instead of helping one another they rant on each other like animals.

  • kerrin o'neill

whos car is it…out the owners name like you out the kids name…i triple dog dare ya…lol

  • Anon

The owner of the car is arrogant, he blocks spots in front of his house with large orange pylons (not cones, PYLONS). When I moved them to park my car one night, one must have been in his driveway because his mother had to move one to get into it and she threw it into the back of my car. When I asked her why she did that, she called her son to come over. He rang my bell and then proceeded to lecture me about how I cannot park in ‘his’ spot, that the THREE spots in front of his house were ‘his’, how his father needs to park his oversized van in front of his house…I told him that his father can park on Seba when there are no spots on the block like everyone else. He then cursed me and when I calmly asked him to watch his language because I had three small children ages seven and under listening from the top of the stairs in my home, he continued to curse me. I then told him to leave and he told me I’d be sorry. If Italian and Irish immigrants were half this arrogant back in the day they would have been run out of town on a rail. I guess today’s foreigners think they are too privileged to abide by our laws (not blocking spots, not creating safety hazards by blocking entire streets, etc.). On a lighter note, a friend on the block just emailed me at work to tell me it’s being towed, so yay! :)

    • Anonymous

If you had posted this earlier then his tires would have been flattened before he was towed so he could be towed on his rims.

    • nonA

The block should make the pylons disappear…….

    • nonA

wait when you say arrogant and foreigner in the same sentence…….lemme guess….hmmmm…..eastern europe…..????

      • Anonymous

Funny thing is they have nothing to be arrogant about. It’s clownish and they don’t even realize it.

    • Anonymous

there is a simple solution if everyone could respect each other. park one car on the block and keep the others off the block. then there is a spot for everyone in front of their home. if someone takes that spot don’t do it to someone else. instead shove a potato up the tailpipe and park off the block until the car is moved.

  • dvsness

It’s gone, and right after I noticed that a plow came down the block. I didn’t see it leave, but the timing makes me think it was towed.

  • Anonymous

I thought those range rover things were supposed to be made for off road. I must have passed that car 15 times this week in my truck that cost half what they go for. Money does not = smarts

  • Laura

Our court finally got plowed last night at 1am so am happy I can now try to get our car out. But! Does anyone ever remember not having mail for 3 business days? I thought the mail always gets through rain, sleet, snow etc. 3 days – I cannot remember this ever happening before. This hurts especially when waiting for a check. And on the 4th day the mail resumed, hopefully!

  • Anonymous

The same asshole lets his dog shit around the neighborhood without picking up after it too. He had a friend come over once hit someone’s car and they essentially yelled at the women when she complained calling her “trash.” Hey, if there are so many bad-ass kids in Gerritsen, why don’t do some good social justice instead of trying to hurt innocent people. Throw rocks at assholes like this.

    • dvsness

I remember that! His friend was parking and hit the van belonging to 62 more than once. When they came out of the house they were told that their car was a piece of s— and they were trash. We were very upset, as they are nice people, shoveled with me for hours yesterday. It’s not ok to hit someone’s car even if it is older or less valuable than yours.

    • Anonymous

collect the ample dog crap from around the area and dump it in his yard. after a while he’ll get the hint.

  • Anonymous

To all the people that commented on my friends range which got stuck on the block the day of the storm , the reason why I couldn’t move the truck is not because I am ignorant and don’t care about my neighbors it is becAuse the keys were lost in the snow and I needed to get them replaced the dealership was closes on Mon so Tue I paid extra to get the key expedited wich cost me 500 just so I can move the car , then also needed someone from the range to come and program the key so it can start , I was running around all 3 days trying to get the car out of the spot as soon as possible , I would of towed the car myself but it needs a fated to tow it Nd none was available due to the storm , I did everything possible to get the car out. I lived in my house for 10 yrs on gerritson and get along with most of my neighbors , expect for the ones that just recently moved in . I did not block tba block on purpose lost keys can happen to anyone I want to see you in my shoes. But the car was bothering my neighbors so much so they decided that they can vandalism my car costing me another 700$ in damages . Breaking off windshield wipers and damaging the car now that’s inhumane , I would call you an animal who ever did this. I explained my situation Nd neighbors on my block didn’t mind. I did tell who ever did this that I will move the car ASAP but she thinks I don’t care and decided to break something that’s not hers , which is a very stupid thing to do as a neighbor , I’m sry for the inconvenience .

    • dvsness

      Who damaged it?

Also, why not just get it towed if there were no keys? The city towed it just fine without any.

    • dvsness

Also, you’re getting your stories confused again. Is it “my friends range” or “vandalism my car costing another 700$ in damages”? Is it “keys lost” or “car won’t start”?

Get one story and stick to it for a change.

Also, you clearly DON’T get along with all of your neighbors if you read all the comments here. They might not go out of the way to tell you, but hey, it is what it is.

    • Anonymous

      Pick up after your dog.

    • sorry for you all

If you are the owner of the Range Rover, I give you alot of credit for posting your side of the situation…. As usual there 2 sides to most stories. And I thank you for stating yours…It is unfortunate that you suffered some vandalism but everyone was angry and frustrated by the storm and the failure of DSNY to clean the streets. Nobody should be punished for an honest series of errors like you faced….I hope you have set the record straight in the minds of GB people…

why are there out of state plates on this vehicle?

If you become a resident of NYS, you have 30 days after you become a resident to register your vehicle in NYS. If you are a resident of NYS and you get a vehicle from another state, you must register the vehicle in NYS.

Definition of a Resident. If you become a resident of NYS, you must exchange your driver license and vehicle registration from another state for a NYS driver license and vehicle registration within 30 days. If you have a driver license from another state, you must get a driver license from NYS within 30 days after you become a resident of NYS. If you have a vehicle registration from another state, you must get a vehicle registration from NYS within 30 days after you become a resident of NYS.

Section 250 (5) of the Vehicle and Traffic Law defines the term “resident.” The law defines a resident as a person who lives in NYS with the intent to make NYS a “fixed and permanent” place to live. To live in a house, a home, an apartment, a room or other similar place in NYS for 90 days is considered “presumptive evidence” that you are a resident of NYS. A police officer can use this evidence as the reason to issue a traffic ticket if you drive in NYS without a driver license or vehicle registration issued by NYS.

The car didn’t belong to the person who lives in gerritsenbeach people have to look at comments prior to all the others it was a friend visiting and accidentley got stuck on that street.

      • Anonymous

the man is a dealer, Car dealer that is. those were deleware dealer plates.

  • TheBitch

You people think you are so freaking smart .. Talking shit from your computer but when the owner of the car was right in front of your faces everyone was friendly and said they understood the situation. No the car didn’t start and the keys were lost and the owner also tried to get a flatbed to come and get it the next day but none were able to get to the block. The owner of the car spoke to sanitation and also spoke to the neighbors to explain what had happened. There were cars scattered all around that area for days on end and no one even said a word !!! And what at now you people are making up stories about a sick child …. The block could have been cleaned from the other entrance but you arrogant people just wanted to get a story out of the situation. Put yourself into the persons shoes and then tell me how much shit you would be talking. The owner was there everyday that the car was stranded and tried to get it out. And talking shit about the russian people and all the bad things they do and the 60G cars they drive is what so grown up? I know many of you dirtbags that live on that block can’t afford a 60G car so all you can do it talk crap about others. The owner of the car apologized for the car being there but his hands were tied, he tried his best to get the car out ASAP . But the person who vandalized the car should be ASHAMED of herself and the lessons she is teaching her children as a comment above me stated the kids in that area get their arrogance from the parents.

    • TheBitch

AND SANITATION ONLY STARTED CLEANING TODAY !!!!!! NOT BECAUSE OF THE CAR BEING STUCK THERE BUT BECAUSE IT WAS THE ONLY DAY THEY COULD GET INTO YOUR BLOCKS .

      • dvsness

Beacon between the same cross streets was cleared the night before last. Many of the courts were cleared yesterday (I’m aware of this because I walked around a lot because I was stir crazy and was trying to get a truck to come up Canton the wrong way).

        • Anonymous

BEACON WAS NOT CLEARED. THANKS TO SOME UNGRATEFUL NEIGHBOR THAT WAS ONLY LOOKING OUT FOR HIS OWN FAMILY ONLY PLOWED 3/4 OF THE BLOCK STILL LEAVING THE REMAINING HOUSES UNPLOWED. SO NOW WHEN DSNY LOOKS DOWN THE BLOCK THEY THINK ITS PLOWED AND NOW WE ARE IN A ENDLESS BATTLE TRYING TO GET IT CLEARED.

          • Arthur Borko

Hold on a second? Did I just read that? A Good Samaritan
plowed the STREET in front of their home for the city and you
expect them to plow your part of the street too just because they
can? That’s bullshit. Certainly it would have been a fine and
upstanding thing to clean the entire block but it’s not their
responsibility. Your beef is with the city, not with someone went
an extra mile. And you’ve got the balls to complain they didn’t go
            2. hah.

          • gbmom

I know that neighbor & he cleared out a lot more than his relatives on Beacon–you should be ashamed of yourself. 3/4 of the block is a lot!! The only person who sounds ungrateful is YOU!!!

There is no made up story about a sick child. He (and his mother) are still sick. His father did carry him to the doctor. They live in the beginning of the block close to where the honda pilot was stuck. Why do you say “herself”, do you have some knowledge that a female did vandalism, or just that one spoke up?

      • nonA

thought it was a range rover?

        • Anonymous

A honda pilot was also abandoned on the block, from the same house

          • anonymous

no honda pilot was abandoned the cars were stuck and as soon as the honda was able to be moved which was on Tuesday morning the car got moved into a parking spot so please stop talking all this hot air.

      • anonymous

Every neighbor was spoken to and they understood except for one nosy lady and after she spazed out the car got vandalized. So guess what !!! Fingers don’t need to be pointed its so obvious.

        • Vanessa

I believe you’re talking about me as ‘the nosy lady’. I live across the street and I told you all what I thought. I suggest you contact the guy with the video because although I have a big mouth and I’m not scared to speak my mind, I didn’t take your wipers off. When you assume….

          • noneya

ha thats funny no one said what part of the car was vandalized

          • dvsness

It’s not exactly a secret. I walked past the vehicle several times both before and after the damage occurred. It was visible. Seeing damage doesn’t mean causing damage.

My friendly neighbors which just moved across the street from me into these projects that they build 2yrs ago, that are renting them out and thinking they own the block, while i lived on this block for 10yrs in the house that i build myself which i am still paying for, for the rest of my life . And i get along with my neighbors just fine which have lived there for much more than i have, and i would never do something on purpose just to piss them off, like slashing there tires , or breaking there cars, this like this wont even come to my mind because i wouldn’t want it done to me, but since everyone here on this site thinks im arrogant or dont care bout anyone or that iam a fukin russian which shouldnt have anything to do with this situation , beacuse loosing your keys is not a joke in the snow , it can happen to anyone while i was helping puss someone out my keys fell out and it was the only pair i had and its very difficult to replace them right away, and the car cannot be towed, unless its in neutral or on a flatbed tow truck , i have been working to get my car out of the street since Sunday i tried to do my best , but if no one wants to believe me and want to be assholes and mess up my car and cost me whole bunch of damage , and now i have to waste the money which i dont have to fix the car instead of getting gifts for my family, thank you very much my friendly neighbors i appreciate everything that you did and NOW YOU CAN Expect THE SAME FROM ME I HAVE LOST ALL RESPECT FOR YOU. AND NOW SINCE YOU DAMAGED MY PROPERTY WHICH YOU HAD NO RIGHTS TO DO, I will no longer be your friendly neighbor. AND PPL ARE SAYING IM THE ASSHOLE I DONT WALK AROUND DAMAGING PPLS THINGS < WHO EVER DID THIS IS A PUSSY AND WHEN I FIND OUT I WILL LET THEM KNOW THIS IN THERE FACE.

  • TheBitch

I want to see you people be put into that situation and see what you would do and it was only one block which could have been cleaned out from the other end.!!

    • Anonymous

All the hot air coming out of your trap could have melted the whole block.Shut the hell up already. (The bitch that is)

      • TheBitch

aWw hurtful I think I might just cry. All you people have
nothing better to do. Instead on being pissed at the city and
trying to work together all you people do is talk trash .. !! My
friend got stuck just like the truck in the picture she called 311,
911 and AAA and guess what none could help .. 911 told her she’s on
her own. So please stop talking all this crap stuff happens and
there isn’t anything you can do about it !!!

  • Anon

Looks like a 60 dollar tow truck could have saved u or your friend a lot of money

  • Anonymous

I TRIED TO TOW THE CAR , no TOW TRUCK WERE AVAILABLE AT ALL, i have called 10 towing companies none of them had available flatbeds which were in operation.

    • Clay

I’m always willing to hear both sides of the story. My question is: Was there a reason you, friends, neighbors you’re friendly with, etc. could not have shoveled the Range Rover out, shoveled an adjacent “parking spot” out, put the car in neutral, and pushed it into said spot? I assume RRs have keypad entry systems (b/c you lost your key/keyless entry beeper and couldn’t get in that way). If not, how about a locksmith to pop the door, so you could get in, put it in neutral, and push it out of the way? Not saying I would not have taken the steps you did, but curious if you tried those described above since they are a lot easier.

      • TheBitch

A locksmith was called also a tow truck and range rover , if people would know anything about these cars then they would know they have a system just like a mercedes benz it is impossible to pop the door open the owner tried and no one could help and the only way to get in was to get the key. Range rover told the owner that it was a two week wait for a new key and that no one could do anything about it . The owner payed extra to have the key sent in next day . I wish none of this would have happened because it was an inconvenience to alot of people but it was a situation out of the hands of the owner. No one sees the situation from the other persons eyes i bet if one of them would be in the same spot they wouldn’t be saying the things they are saying now.

        • Clay

As expected, I don’t “know” the systems of RRs, BMW, Mercedes, largely b/c I’ve never really cared for them (I would only imagine using a RR on safari; wife loves them all, though). For the price, however, I would expect those companies to do my bidding. Guess not, and thus my continued dislike for said cars.

Still, no keypad entry system to get in and pop it into neutral? Guessing keypad “yes,” though a key may be needed for the “popping” to shift to neutral.

Lesson learned: Always have two sets of keys.

PARKING REGULATIONS ARE STILL NOT IN AFFECT today there are still cars standing in the middle of the big streets in some places, i tried my best to move the car out of there asap , BUT THIS DOSENT GIVE ANYONE A REASON TO GO AND BREAK THE CAR !!!! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO GO AND BREAK ALL OF YOUR CARS JUST BECAUSE I DONT LIKE YOU, or how about BREAK YOU CARS WHEN YOU PARK IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE BLOCKING MY GATE SO I CANNOT COME OUT OF THE HOUSE AND HAVE TO CLIMB OVER MY FENCE OR SQUEEZE OUT OF MY HOUSE Because SOMEONES CAR IS BLOCKING MY GATE , I DONT GO AND BREAK THEIR CAR, I DONT EVEN CALL THE TOW TRUCK TO GET THEM TOWED WHICH I SHOULD BE DOING, BECAUSE KNOWING MY NEIGHBORS THATS WHAT THEY WOULD DO RIGHT AWAY, IVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR a YR AND I DONT GO AND DAMAGE THEIR CARS , WHAT THEY DID WAS UNREASONABLE AND Stupid < ACTING LIKE ANIMALS < GO TO THE ZOO YOU FIT IN BETTER THERE

    • Parent of little ones

If you don’t like it move. Nobody is keeping you here.

      • NO ONE

no one is holding you here either !!! When your kids are sitting in prison who will you blame i bet you aren’t ganna blame your self .. its always going to be someone else . Its your fault your kids are pack rats that don’t follow laws and damage property!!!

        • Parent of little ones

First of all, my kids are 2 and 4, so they are not pack rats. I do my best to keep them very active so that they don’t become part of that crowd. I meant that for this person who inconvenienced an entire block touting how great a neighbor he is, all the while the entire blocks dislikes him for his arrogant selfish ways. So, if he thinks GB is so bad, then he should move. Unfortunately, GB is very against anyone not of their own (meaning born and bread in GB), no matter what their nationality. If you are not inbread to the neighborhood from the beginning of time, you are not welcome. Thank God I live on a great block with great neighbors!

          • anonymous

See that is just ignorance of those people who live in gb … but you are saying any nationality but all these people are saying is russians this and russians that … how can you not call them animals. I have seen many kids not meaning yours around gb doing such things that even in the projects where people are scared to step a foot in children do not act this way. It is just sad that people would act like such animals and teach their children such things. I am not saying you I mean the people who believe that unless you are born and raised in one place you don’t belong.

          • anon

It is born and bred, not bread. I am not trying to insult you. I make mistakes too.

          • Kelly

It is unfortunate that this is what the Beach is all about.

    • gbmom

I feel bad for you because you have been subject to vandalism which, speaking from experience, is an awful, helpless feeling. This outrage is due to the way this article was approached & if you TRULY did all you could do then I do feel bad that you have been targeted. That said, blocking a gate is not illegal & you should have your gate swing inward in case it does get blocked-driveways, on the other hand, are different. In addition to my ‘2 cents’ about that I think you should know that putting cones up to save a parking spot in front of your house isn’t right (& you could get in trouble for stolen city property)but at least it is your house, but putting it in front of a neighbors house is another—its outright rude if you didnt speak with them about it. BTW-I’m still not sure if I am speaking to the proper homeowner-I am unfamiliar with the address.

    • anonymous

Since when can you have a car towed because it is blocking your gate???? Hmm My gate is blocked all the time and I just deal with it

  • Opal Ct

Yea, How bout livin on Opal ct, where for the past 3 storms we were never plowed, cleaned or even had the city make the effort. We have a DSNY supv on the block and that doesnt help, 4 kids under 3 yrs of age, 2 Cancer patients, and 3 older men, who shovel, and I fear for thier health and ask them to stop so I can do it, which of course they refuse. Now for the second time I had to shovel my cross street of Just ct, so cars, not just mine, can get off the block. I understand that this is not a priority street, but 3 blizzards later and atill not 1 F-in truck to clean. Not sure who to call anymore, but I do know that I pay way too much in income tax to have to go in my pocket and pay a private person tp clean the CITY street. Also I wanna give a personal FUCK YOU, to whoever decided that when they were diggin their car out, that they had to throw thier snow right on the corner of Just and Seba, where I had shoveled for 4 hours to clean the street, by hand and by myself.Lust wanna say you suck, you selfish A-hole. I had to take another 2 hours to remove your snow. Hope you had fun unburyin your car again, figured you wanted all your snow back that you left on the clean coener of Just and Seba. Other than that, I wanna thank all those who offered help to me and all our neighbors when they saw help may have been needed. We’ll get through this, just remember that Opal ct will probably be snowed in til July. Its funny that Opal between Madoc and the channel is clean but not between Madoc and Just, oh and the other half of Just that I just didnt have the energy to do. Not meanin to get at anyone here, cept for the before mentioned, selfish prick, who now has to redig out his/her car. You deserve it. To everyone else, hope it gets better for all of you, even if a little at a time. I remind myself, its snow, not a nuclear winter

Looking at the pic, easy solution, if the Rover can’t be moved then move the white van (which is probably a commercial vehicle illegally parked LOL) This wasn’t the crime of the year down here or the inconvinence of the century, there was an obsvious solution. Jes there were and are more headaches with the pack rats, or who some call teenagers acting out, running around causing mayhem

    • Anonymous

That was what i was offering the neighbors on mon, it was an easy solution to move the van. i offered to help them move the van out of the spot so cars can come into the block but they refused to deal with me since im the asshole and threatened me that my car is not gonna be in one piece when i return to get it, that how niece ppl are on my block, I LOVE MY NEIGHBORS CANT LIVE WITHOUT THEM!!!

    • NO ONE

YEA NO ONE TALKS ABOUT THOSE LIL KIDS GOING INTO PEOPLES HOUSES THROUGH THE WINDOWS AND TAKING STUFF OUT OF THE HOUSES WHY DOESN’T SOMEONE GO LOOK UP ALL THE POLICE REPORTS ON THAT . I PERSONALLY KNOW OF TWO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS WHERE HOUSES WERE BROKEN INTO ON ONE BLOCK BY THOSE LIL PACK RATS .

  • NO ONE

ALL THESE PEOPLE HAVE NOTHING ELSE BETTER TO DO !!!! GET A LIFE GET OVER IT … NO ONE DIED IT WAS JUST A CAR STRANDED BECAUSE OF A STORM WHICH WAS OUT OF THE HANDS OF HUMANS !!!!!

  • resident of canton

Now that you mention kids robing houses , I have been robbed previously myself on 60 Canton , kids got tru the window and stole only electronics and games and xbox ps3 , not touching anything else so it had to be kids , it happened on memorial day of 2009 I.still remember this day , and their parental don’t say nothing these huligans kids when they rob ppl , or break bus stops , or ppl windows on seba , but everyone gets mad at me for loosing keys from the range and doing everything possible to move the car , and decided that they can go fuk with someone else’s property and break things off the car , that are very expensive to replace , I just paid only for they key 350 plus another 150 for someone to come to the range and program it and expedite it since I wanted it done ASAP and dealer was closed Mon , now I have to pay even more since someone decided its gona be fun to mess it up , happy holidays everyone … I believe in karma so the person that did this is gona get what he deserves !

What the problem with Russians not all Russian are same

    • Anonymous

Hold your ground.. We are looking at Another Brighton Beach here.Think its bad now?Old stock is slipping away and new stock is slipping in.Sad day the other day when i passed 3 bus stops on the Ave saw lots of people waiting for the bus 18 20 people maybe. Not ONE LOOKED AMERICAN.Just saying.

      • NO ONE

ha none looked american you lazy people wouldn’t know what to do if there were no immigrants in this country . All you people are immigrants from one way or another. You are low lives who have nothing better to do then sit there scratch your as$ and talk ish on the computer.

      • Parent of little ones

Go up to 277 at dismissal, not to many people speak English either

      • Anonymous

I’ve seen professionals, school kids, blue-collar workers all waiting for buses, including express buses.

You asked “you think its bad now?” no, not really. But who is making it get worse? The Russians? Please, I don’t think so. Little McMayhems are tearing the neighborhood up guy, that is no secret.

If they looked like dirty slobs at the bus stop I’m sure you would feel real comfortable, you’d feel right at home. Pot belly with food stains on their ‘fighting Irish’ shirt, driving an old beat up car in a house they were handed by their parents that was purchased 40 years ago and hasn’t seen repairs since. Not bothering to raise their kids. REAL AMERICA huh? I don’t think so slob.

It’s the new blood that’s rebuilding Gerritsen Beach, the sooner the arrogant racist idiots leave the sooner it will be cleaned up. I’m not Irish, but I was born and raised in New York and all the ‘Old Stock’ that don’t the fact I don’t look beet red in the face and smell like a brewery can eat a bowl of dyck up.

        • Anonymous

LOL. New Blood.Your 10 years to late pal.LOL.The doors have been open.Nothing racist about it.Im not Irish either for what ever thats worth.Slob?WTF are you smoking

          • Anonymous

10 years too late for what? You’re not Irish and I’m not the Russian in the above posts. It’s great that the doors are open, now maybe the ‘old stock’ rats will find some other neighborhood to scatter to and muck up. Perhaps I’m smoking something your own kind is selling right under your nose in OUR neighborhood. Good luck with the America you’re so concerned about. I’m all for shutting down the borders, English only etc. I’m also for educating our kids and raising them with moral fiber. Obviously the ‘old stock’ has failed at that in this neighborhood. Rather than ignorant statements about non-American looking people at the bus stop folks here should be more concerned about that.

        • Render

I love the term “little McMayhems.” True, say what you will, the Russians don’t teach their children to bean women and babies with frozen eggs and potatos.

  • noneya

ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE JUST STUPID !!! HILLBILLY MORONS !!!! INSTEAD OF HELPING EACHOTHER OUR ALL YOU DO IS TALKING SHIT … BUT I WONDER IF THIS HAPPENED TO YOU WHAT WOULD YOU DO … !!!

  • Arthur Borko

Dan, How about contacting the owner of that vehicle and
confirming the story posted here and maybe posting an update? If
the guy is telling the truth he doesn’t deserve the grief he’s
    getting here.

    • Anonymous

I agree with Arthur. If the man did lose his key and did everything in his power to get the car moved, they he deserves the benefit of the doubt. I know how frustrating it can be to the rest of the neighbors, but try to look at it from his side.

I am quite troubled about all the references to this man’s ethnicity. An a-hole is an a-hole, no matter where a person was born.

  • Anonymous

The bottom line is there are two sides to every story and very few posting here know all the facts. Seems to me that the car was legitimately stuck as nobody is going to leave a nice car exposed in the middle of a sidewalk and in front of a street completely blocking it. Seems like an adjacent van could have been dug out and moved but it wasn’t. Also looks like this guy made a real effort to get things fixed but frustrated neighbors boiled over and did something stupid. It probably doesn’t help that the person has a rep for not picking up after his dog and parking three cars on the street but who really knows if thats true. I think everyone needs to chill out. Maybe the article could have been written in a different tone, a tone that sought help from neighbors to perhaps dig it out or locate the owner. Maybe the owner could have then been alerted by a reader, or someone come out to put a cardboard on the window apologizing, explaining he was working on a solution, and putting a phone number on it. This is all Monday morning quarterback stuff but vandalism is not the answer. Adults have to behave if the kids are going to learn anything.

On another note, the story about the break-ins are disturbing, if I catch anyone in my house no matter what the age, all bets are off. All this talk about Russians is sad, we all know its not Russian or East European kids causing problems in the neighborhood so its best not to throw stones. Balance people, keep your cool. Chill out for the New Year.

  • Anonymous

The sensational headline also screams 5 days later. It didn’t stop snowing until Monday morning so there’s some fuzzy math going on if the car was towed Thursday.

    • NO ONE

people are morons all they want to do is talk crap about other instead of looking at them selfs .

      • Parent of little ones

Learn proper english please! Calling people morons while you are spelling like one is like calling the kettle black! LOL!

        • NO ONE

I know proper English and do not need lessons from you. I was just saying that people who do not understand (are not in that situation ) Keep talking and saying such nasty things that it should just be embarrassing .

      • Anonymous

The article isn’t moronic, that wasn’t my point. I just thought it could have be written with a more helpful tone. Obviously the editor has the right to write anything he wants but I’d prefer reporting that is a little more neutral in tone, and detailed with as many facts as possible, especially when it comes to a neighbors dispute. There are always two sides to a story. Sadly this comment section has spiralled into something ugly.

  • disgusted

This neighborhood is fucking disgusting. It was disgusting
    before the Russian.

  • Isn/t Delaware a little far from GB? or is he just visiting? everyone knows the vehicle must be registered in the state the person lives (or spends most of his time in)!!!

    • anonymous

As it was posted previously the person was visiting. But people think they are so smart and know every little thing meanwhile they can’t even get the story right . It’s like a broken phone everyone has their own story to tell and most of the stories aren’t correct. As I said before if it was one of the people posting these nasty comments they wouldn’t write the things they do nor say.

I feel sorry for Doreen Greenwood. She will have to try to sell properties here in the future as the word of the local inbreeding is broadcast and googleable to the world from here on out.

Kudos to the Vollies. I hope that everyone remembers them.

How can a community that supports a great school like 277 allow the kids to turn into savages?

It is nice to see pics of Resurrection- I suggest that some of you parents bring the kids on Sunday to start the new year fresh.

Bus attacks- I left when I had to help an 80-year old walk from Resurrection to Seba several Halloweens ago.

  • anonymous

didn’t someone say the car had no plates on it, than out of state plates amazingly appeared.. hmm would be nice to run the plates ….just saying.

  • anonymous

I think you all should remember that the street is not a parking lot and NOBODY has the right to claim a spot in front of their house. Nice, considerate neighbors worked out this idea that each homeowner should have a spot near his home. It worked for many years but now homes have five cars or more this is becoming difficult and causing friction between old and new residents.

    • Anonymous

Someone posted a very sensible solution above… one car in front of your home, maybe two IF your block has the space for it but otherwise the additional cars should be parked on the avenues. Walking to your home from any avenue around here is very easy and safe. That’s just common courtesy.

  • BklynGal

Well it seems like the unregistered/out of state/no plate Range Rover is the icon for this person’s self centered behavior.

IF he had been a GOOD neighbor, everyone in the area would have jumped in to help but it seems like he has been a d-ck to everyone around by reserving parking spots, letting his pet do his business without cleaning up and his communication skills seem more THUG then helpful community member.

Perhaps a bit of a change in his attitude and more of a good neighbor would help him next time this happens.

    Just saying…..

  • Anonymous

im not going to go threw all the comments but that night at around 12 30 i offered to dig him out and he gave me an attitude telling me the car wouldnt start but i offered again out of kindness and he gave me an attitude, the guys a prick

  • Anonymous

The whole “owning” the parking spot in front of your house is ridiculous. I live on the no parking side of my court. So where is my spot located? I’ve had neighbors with a two car garage and a double driveway who owned 3 cars get mad at other neighbors for parking in their so called “spots” on the street. Put you cars in the garage/driveway you dipshit.

  • Kelly

This guy is just a prick . Best thing to do is check all his plates out, if they are bogus inform the proper authorities. Don’t let him get away with anything!!

  • 60 canton

I just came back to broooklyn today, and see that you ppl still dislike me, i have explained my reasons and they are true, I did everything possible not to block your block, I have expedited the keys so i can get it out of the spot asap, Without the keys i cant even put the car in neutral and push it out , I would have done that right away if it was possible. All my plates are legit those were Delaware car dealer plates i had only one set of keys, since most cars sold at the auction today only contain one key!!! If i had a spare my car would of never been there in the first place , i would of went and gotten a spare same sun night and moved the car out of there.. Thank You Happy New Yrs let this new yrs be better than the rest. We can all just communicate more and work things out instead of damaging ppls things.

    • Clay

As you can see from my other posts, I am open to hearing you out. I expected the key was likely needed to pop it into neutral. Having it sit there, regardless of the issues, is clearly an inconvenience, and I assume you can agree with that as well.

Lesson #1 – Even if a car only comes with 1 key, get a 2nd made ASAP after purchase, you never know what might happen. Would this exact same problem happen if you locked your keys inside the car? Just food for thought.

Lesson #2 – While I can’t attest to others’ statements, if people offer help, take it. Pass it forward, i.e. if someone helps shovel you out, offer the same token of kindness to another. These things might seem trivial, but they make a community stronger and less confrontational.

  • anonymous

From what I have read in the above posts it seems that more than the fact the car was stuck is that the person who owns it apparently under normal circumstances does not have any consideration for his neighbors, because knowing the people in the beach if he was a decent neighbor he would have gotten more than enough help either to move his car or less complaints about his situation… maybe a lesson should be learned from this
