Breaking: Water Main Break on Avenue Near the Point

DEP Water repair crews are working to fix a water main break South of Lois Avenue this Wednesday evening.

Right now water flow has been stopped in the area.  Some customers in the area may be without water while the repairs are made.

For future reference: In case of water main breaks there are some things you can do to protect yourself:

  • Boil all water for drinking and personal use. Conserve water and do not use water for watering plants, especially those which will be later eaten such as fruits and vegetables.
  • Do not use icemaker and dispose of any ice that may have been contaminated.
  • Purchase bottled water if available. Ideally you should always have enough bottled water reserved for 3 days. If stores are out of bottled water, know that they have ordered more supplies from their warehouse.

Can you believe some a-holes were doing donuts and other stupid manuvers around these guys while they were trying to do their job? This neighborhood is so full of ass-holes it's unreal.

How about maintaining the water mains so they do not burst and knowing were they are located. That is something the DEP should do. I say this based on personal experience. l lost my home on Dare Court due to a watermain break in 2004. Do you know the mains are supposed to last for 100 years. The one under my home was only 50 years old. Don't think your insurance will pay either. Still swimming in the water or BS
