Dead Animals After West Nile Spraying

DSCN1189

The morning after the West Nile Spraying, reports started to come in of dead animals on the weeds side. Specifically a crow and rat.

Many believe that these animals and possibly many more died as a result of the spraying.

To be fair, the correlation of these events does not imply causation. The whole situation would have to be investigated further.

The City investigates clusters of 10 or more dead birds and three or more dead geese, swans, ducks, chicken, or turkeys. It is possible that the City will collect some of the birds for West Nile Virus testing. An investigation will determine if the birds will be collected.

To dispose of nine or fewer dead birds or one or two dead geese, swans, ducks, chickens, or turkeys found on private property, use plastic bags or disposable rubber gloves to put the dead bird or birds in a double plastic bag. Place the bag outdoors for trash collection. Wash your hands with warm soapy water afterwards.

they better check to see if the spraying caused damage to humans especially pregnant women. they used to spray some chemical down here in fl. 30 yrs ago that caused birth defects in babies born to migrant farm workers. as with the questionable well water west of us, everything is hush hush and testing has been going on for over a yr while juvenile cancer clusters are popping up out there. any poison sprayed settles in the ground and ends up in the aqua fields and affects our h20 and too the ground is contaminated. really ask what was sprayed and have it analyzed. the weeds r goona be future playgrounds.

I have worked with pesticides many times and have learned that they have warnings on them stating the use of the product would take away a day in your life.

These pesticides KILL much more then just mosquitoes that are important to the balance of life & nature.

Because of this fact, I use natural ingredients soap, soda, coffle, bleach, all mixed with water.

I don’t see how spraying poison once a year can help the quality of life. It may stop west Nile virus but what about the long term of our health & children?

Cymbopogon citratus. Common Names: lemongrass, oil grass kills mosquitoes.

Last night forgetting about the spraying I had gone outside to buy milk and I began to cough along with my eyes tearing up.

Lemon Ammonia and lemon dish soap mixed with water and sprayed, or sprayed thru a hose end sprayer are the best against mosquitos and it doesn’t hurt your grass or plants. It actually makes them greener. Spray the perimeter of your yard and you will have no problem with mosquitos. No need to poison everything in sight.

Not at all, I am happy there is at least a few people who 'get it'. I don't use any chemicals in my gardens or home for 20+ years. There is no reason to except that people are suckered in to the advertising by the chemical manufacturers. It's a shame that for a few cases of West Nile, they kill every insect in sight. All the beneficials, ladybugs, fireflies, preying mantises etc. Not to mention the birds and other animals affected. People are so arrogant in their desire to control everything that we have knocked the whole natural balance out of whack. When something like West Nile crops up, people should just be told to protect themselves or use natural deterents to keep them away from their property, instead they do this spraying that kills everything and will cause cancer and other diseases in people for years down the road. It's all wrapped up in excessive government intervention in our lives, lol, but let's not even get into that one.

  • The politics of pesticides is vast; see my site at http://harpub.co.cc/overview.htm or http://nospray.org

The blog reads, "To be fair, the correlation of these events does not imply causation."

I'd say this correlation actually does "imply causation"; It does not "prove causation". Proof would require a one billion dollars and a thousand lawyers.
