Love The Smell of West Nile Spray in the Morning?

Last night the Department of Health did in fact spray Gerritsen Beach. We know because we seen it and smelt it this morning!

There was a truck that was spraying with police escort that came down every block in Gerritsen Beach. The escort had a repeating announcement something like. “Go inside your homes, close your windows, death spray coming”. It’s a rough quote.

It was fun to watch them attempt to back out of the Dead End’s

I have worked with pesticides many times and have learned that they have warnings on them stating the use of the product would take away a day in your life.

These pesticides KILL much more then just mosquitoes that are important to the balance of life & nature.

Because of this fact, I use natural ingredients soap, soda, coffle, bleach, all mixed with water.

I don't see how spraying poison once a year can help the quality of life. It may stop west Nile virus but what about the long term of our health & children?

Cymbopogon citratus. Common Names: lemongrass, oil grass kills mosquitoes.

Last night forgetting about the spraying I had gone outside to buy milk and I began to cough along with my eyes tearing up.

Lemon Ammonia and lemon dish soap mixed with water and sprayed, or sprayed thru a hose end sprayer are the best against mosquitos and it doesn't hurt your grass or plants. It actually makes them greener. Spray the perimeter of your yard and you will have no problem with mosquitos. No need to poison everything in sight.

I don't have the slightest knowledge about the spay used, but I would emphatically suggest to those who walk their dogs across the avenue to wait for a few days to pass before doing so…

WHY? If for no other reason than the fact, Donna and I scooped up a dead WATER RAT from the Bartlett Avenue side of the Community Garden earlier today; and a dead CROW was found across from the vicinity of AOH.

Those are what have been seen, who knows what we can't see. (If a Raccoon falls in the weeds….) I wouldn't walk my dog there, if I had one.

Dead birds are what the health department looks for in regard to West Nile virus. You should report it to 311.

I spoke with the rep from the DOH. There have been several. Confirmed cases of werst nile in the gerrittsen beach / marine park area. This is why they sprayed so fast and the areas weren't notified in time
