  • Protect your home by bringing inside loose, lightweight objects, such as lawn furniture, garbage cans, garden tools, and toys. Anchor larger objects outside.
  • Place valuables in waterproof containers or plastic bags to protect from flooding damage.
  • Check on friends, relatives, and neighbors, especially those with disabilities or special needs, and assist them with their preparation.
  • Check and restock your emergency supply kit in case of power outages.

  • sorry for you all

Reports on the storm track as of this AM.. Are that it just might miss Brooklyn, Queens and parts of Long Island… It might hit further out Eastern Long Island..and move up to Cape Cod Mass…. This of course could change… Our water Temp. off the coast is about 74-76 * This is what really controls Hurricans … Usually if the Gulf Stream running off our coast is above 80 * that is bad… We will still get Wind and Rain… So caution is advised… You will know more by Fri. into Sat….

Stock up on plenty of beer and liquor! Sit back and let it rain!

Please remember to bring in the dog. And keep kitty inside, too.

Why is it called a hurricane? Shouldn't it be called a himacane?

Very Funny. That's why they started using male names. By the way, the poster is right. During Floyd, another hurricane, someone left their dog out and it was barking all through the storm. Why the person left it out is beyond me. I have a quick thought. With all this talk, I will throw something out. Why wait for something to hit. Practice all of this. Turn off the lights, use canned food as if it were the real thing. No tv for two nights. Use candles sparingly, you don't need to have a fire. With the L.E.D. flashlights the need for them is no more. They last a long time and the batteries can go for more than 100 hours! That way you'll be prepared and it won't seem like a burden or hardship. You might say I am a crazy survivalist, but I'm more of a realist. The only thing I'll reveal here is that I keep a bag packed for a quick trip to the woods and it already contains all I would need for something like this. I can make a stove from a tuna can and some alcohol. On top of all that, I have fun and enjoy the beauty of the woods.

I’ll bet the operative part of that sentence is “alcohol”.

Nope, just the rubbing kind. You don't or should not be drinking anything more that water in a situation like that. I am not going to lecture anyone about what to do. Just don't come knocking on my door if something happens.
