A Slow Day - Only Two Buses

It has to be said.

Garbage! Garbage! Garbage! Enough with the Garbage.

Despite artful messages the Gerritsen Avenue Soccer Fields are filthy! Why? Because our fields are growing more and more popular during the week with Day Care Camps. They come in by the busload and when they leave they don’t clean up after themselves!

These camps come in usually because Marine Park is filled and they come here to use our facilities.

Don’t get us wrong here we are all for having kids having fun but if they leave the place a mess it’s not worth it.

Who knows when Bergen Beach is coming back to clean it up!

A sign needs to be hung on the fence asking (telling) people to clean up after themselves. It's a disgrace.

    • gbproud

Use the fields, that's what they are there for. But clean up after yourselves. There may be an attitude of it is not my neighborhood so they don't care. Dunno

  • JD

"These camps come in usually because Marine Park is filled and they come here to use our facilities."

Since when did they become yours? They belong to everyone. They are public parks.

    • Fred Perry

Touche! You beat me to it.

      • Anonymous

You are right but ask yourself this why the hell should we clean up there mess?

      • gbproud

        Now we speak French?

        • Anonymous

What we NEED is someone who speaks Hebrew who could make a sign to hang up there. The artistic pleas to clean up that the muralist painted on the boulders are really nice but the message isn't getting through. There definitly needs to be more garbage cans up there too. Not that it's any excuse. If they are giving permits for the use of the fields every day then the Parks Dept. has got to maintain it.

          • Anonymous

We don't need a sign if they can't clean up they shouldn't play there. Do they do this at home? Come on how many language signs need to be posted. Its simple you make a mess you clean the mess! I don't think its that hard.

          • anonymous

It is not only Hebrew that the signs need to be in… how about spanish, french, creole and some West Indian… Wow just the many signs we now need down here will cost the Park dept a small fortune

  • Anonymous

Gerritsen kids should play these bus loads of jewish kids for field rights. The signs asking to please not litter may have to be posted in Hebrew.

  • K.Dunne4ID

I say for the next couple of weeks when theyre seen on the fields respectfully greet the person in charge ask what organization they are with and how often they plan on utilizing the feilds. By them giving their name alone should want to make them clean up after themselves, bus numbers, plate numbers, if not just report back to their point of origin with the complaint. The person in charge there "should" be responsible enough to pass the word along that if theyre not conducting themselves responsibly then theyll simply not ejoy the outdoor activities, they can stay inside the buildings then. None the less you have the parks dept. Relay the message to them, something will have to get done. But yeah ultimately you want the kids to have fun and get out there but they definately have to clean up.

    • JD

Do people ask groups their name at Marine Park or Prospect Park before they play?

Yeah they should clean up, but it's up to the Parks Dept. to handle, again these are PUBLIC PARKS.

I can almost tell that the real problem here is that "outsiders" are using "your" parks.

      • Anonymous

The real problem is the outsiders are slobs.

        • Anonymous

Apparently you have not seen what the fields look like after some of "our" grown ups use the fields for games. The dugouts are over flowing. It is the same at the little leage field – it is a small group of adults that cleanup over their not the ones using the park. I've stood at bus stops in the morning and watched kids have breakfast and throw the garbage on the ground – trash can not two feet from them. Ask them to pick it up and you get nasty looks or nasty remarks to mind your own business. It is NOT just "outsiders" ALL should cleanup after themselves.

    • Fred Perry

      Hurray for diplomacy, Mr. Dunne.

      • gbproud

Hey Perry there is a typo in Dunne's post. Why didn't you point that one out?

        • Fred Perry

Because it was the sentiment of the "Turbin" argument I was mocking. Try reading between the lines once in a while.

          • K.Dunne4ID

Are you suggesting that it be better for the neighborhood to let it go and "hope" the parks dept step up and enforce? I'm just saying that by being "Diplomatic" It may be the most civil way to handle the situation. I read all these complaints instead of reading ways to fix the problem. I haven't yet read of any that have actually attempted to handle it personally before depending on a city agency to get involved. Granted it will more than likely end up in their hands because of legal reasons but it doesn't hurt for those who this effects so personally to get involved, more than just complaining on the site.

          • anonymous

It maybe our neighborhood but we have no right to get involved and say anything… it is City property maybe constant complants from all of us after each game when a mess is left, will get them fed up enough to do something about it don't forget to mention how it is attracting racoons and rats !! BTW I believe that the only way to get results in this city is to whine alot like other neighborhoods do LOL

  • John Gavin

THIS IS A PUBLIC PARK!!! If you feel the need to clean up, do it yourselves…you have enough people living in the beach that could use it as their community service project when they get out of the Brooklyn House of Detention.

    • Anonymous

Why don't you come up and clean up after them if you feel that way!

    • Fred Perry

Wow. This argument defies logic. It would actually need to look up to stupid.

The point is that ANYONE who uses the Park should clean up after themselves. This is something learned in the First Grade! Most people don't even leave a mess when they are in a Fast Food restaurant, but they can't pick up their food/drink wrappers when they leave a public field?

And if you really think Gerritsen Beach is such a horrible, crime ridden community Mr. Gavin, what the hell are you doing here? If you don't have constructive criticism, you're opinions are simply gossip.

    • Anonymous

you are an idiot. would it be alright if i left garbage in front of your house? the street is public.

      • John Gavin

Now, Now…there is no point of moving your family to the front of my house.

        • Anonymous

Oh wait, your house is the dump!

        • Anonymous

you didn't answer the question. is it alright to dump garbage in front of your house? you can be insulting all you want but you made a point that you can not back up. how hard is it to clean up after yourself? why should some else pick up your garbage? just how lazy are you? and how disgusting your lie, house, family and hygiene must be if cleaning up after yourself is such a problem.

        • Anonymous

is that house on celeste court?

  • Matty H

People should clean up after themselves. Individuals or organized groups should pack in and pack out whatever trash they produce. There is not reason anyone, especially groups from outside the neighborhood should leave their trash all over the place. It is disgusting to see all the trash and animal feces along the avenue and at the point. I assume the mess is a combination of those from the area and those that visit.

    • Anonymous

We're all slobs – Gerritsen residents walk their dogs and don't pick up after them. SAVAGES! When I catch the dog shitting in front of my house it will be all over for it.

      • Matty H

Not all people are slobs ,

I clean up after my little buddy, you can see me walking around with a steaming bag of poo. The only thing worse than stepping in dog poo, it stepping in someone else's dog poo.

        • anon

I clean-up after my guy too!!! I do have to say…..a number of years ago a kid on my block let his dog do his business in front of my home everyday; one time i even went out with paper towels and he still refused to pick it up. After this went on for a few weeks I went out, cleaned up after the dog and put it in a paper bag. I then delivered it to his home…….his parents made sure he cleaned up after that…..

  • bagels

You took a picture of the buses and the boys playing ball but there's no picture of the garbage.

  • Anonymous

Where is the garbarge? Looks pretty clean to me.

  • Fred Perry

    http://www.nycgovparks.org/sub_permits_and_applic

You can always call the Parks Department and demand this be enforced. And as stated previously, simply ask the people using the Park to clean up after themselves.

  • Adolfi

They make me sick to my stomach. They are all animals.

  • Anonymous

No one has any problem with the ethnicity or religeon of anyone using the fields. The point is that we had everything looking pretty good for a while. Many people don't remember when the weeds were 6ft. high up to the guardrails from 277 to the Point. And there was no sidewalk on that side. Alot of people in this community shed blood, sweat and tears to make the City help out with those fields and clean up. Little by little this started looking like a real small town. GB Cares deserves alot of credit, and so do many other groups and individuals. Volunteers donated countless hours to clean ups, and to maintain the Little League and Pony League. It seems as soon as it was in good shape and people are enjoying it, in come the slobs of all kinds, from all walks of life, who are trashing it. There was enough work cleaning up after our own. Are we supposed to go out there and clean up after them too? Or do we just let it go to shit?

  • sorry for you all

This whole subject has been discussed time and time again….. I have tried to point out that we do not control the East side of Gerrittsen Ave, and the City has the control…. It also should be obvious to everyone that Melinnum Developement will soon be doing the clean-up, and maintinance of the Park. Forget about the Parks Dept…They are more than willing to turn over to so called, non -profit "Community Group" organizations these functions….I do have one question that will eventually concern us all… We know the City has plans to improve the East… Has anyone ever asked our politicians what will become of the 2 Fields, that some of the residents, privately maintain. The old Pony League Field and Larry Veiling Memorial field ? We should at least start finding out how far their developement will go to destroying these community icons….? At least leave us some dignity while we still have it. And some memories of a GB before the aliens came….

    • Render

If you pay taxes to the city, then the city will always be obligated to maintain that area. Do not let the city shortchange the area because a private group has gotten involved with maintenance.

  • sorry for you all

To Anonymous; Yes these groups did wonderful Community work… Seems like it was a blessing and a curse……

    • Beachwalker

That anonymous was me actually, forgot to type BW, yes, I agree it may have been a curse. All done in the right spirit and great intentions but it may have brought more trouble than it's worth. It seems such a shame, they worked so hard. I have been up there after these groups leave and there are cups used and just thrown on the ground, dozens of them and just a huge mess. The "camps" that use Marine Park do the same thing. I remember when "camp" was a place you went to that was maintained by the owners in a specific place. (remember Deauville?) Now, it seems, you can just start a "camp", get a bus, and charge families money to take their kids to trash public parks. It's nothing but babysitting for the day with private people making tons of money at the expense of public parks.

  • Anonymous

contact the parks dept. failure to clean up their mess can result in loss of the permit.

    • Lynn

I agree that many GBers dirty up the neighborhood TOO. I for one, live near 19 lois avenue and want to scream….they keep it like a DUMP! i want to sell my house cause I can't take looking at it! It's embarrassing to have company at my house!

      • Lynn

the five people that gave me a thumbs down…why don't u come sit in front of my house and see if u like the view?

        • Anonymous

Lynn I have to agree with you everytime I pass that house I wonder what the hell happened? That use to be a cute little house and well kept. Now it is disgraceful. What does it take to clean up a yard and make your house at the very least look presentable. Maybe someone should suggest HGTV to see how inexpensive it is to just clean up. I feel for you I know what house is yours and you keep it beautiful. Try not to get so discouraged and move good people like you are hard to find.

          • Lynn

thanks. i really wish that i had the nerve to say something to them. i am not even sure they would understand me. i am not sure how much english they speak. i always hear them speak in arabic. it is really looking bad as of late. why don't people take pride in their homes. clean don't cost money.

    • Anonymous

what permit ????? they don't need no permit !!!! Besides, seriously, they really don't need a permit, its not an organized game. Per Parks Dept. rules, no permits for practices or social events only actual league type games

  • Anonymous

i was up the fields one day letting my son run around (22 months at the time) i couldnt get my double stroller out of the gate bc of the boulder, the way i had to maneuver it was tricky but i became stuck…NOT ONE of the grown ups offered me any help-even though they were waiting for me to get out of their way…i became red faced and flustered when one of the children (about 11) asked me if i needed help, i said please…one of the adults said somthing in hebrew and the kid didnt help after that…finally after the moment of fluster passed and i got my double stroller out i yelled loud enough "thanks alot for helping a mom w 2 babies-no just sit there and watch-thanks alot" or somthing like that, and the grown men about 3 of them started to laugh at me…

now i know the fields can be messy after ANYONE uses them, BUT i can bet any amount of money that if i was stuck at a ballfield with gb softball players by 277…any one of those men wouldve grabbed my stroller and picked it up for me…and helped me out instead of waiting for me, watching me struggle, and then laughing at me…

THAT is the difference between neighborhood people and "outsiders"…and thats why they get an evil eye from me…

i know the fields, and parks are for everyone…but there is a huge difference in attitude when you live here and when you dont…i use the parks in rockaway, i always make it a point to chat with moms and be friendly, and have my son be a friendly child with the other children…most "outsiders" do not

no one has to be friendly, but its much nicer to be so

    • John Taylor

Religious unmarried jews are not allowed to touch the opposite sex and perhaps that was what the adult was reminding the child about.

      • Anonymous

        eyeroll…

i have no tolerance for (any)people who are outly anti woman(mother) using the facade of their religion

to not help me or anyone else in need bc im female is just plain ANTI-WOMAN

take that!!! and now im done with my rant, that day boils my blood

        • Christine Molloy

I have said it once and I will say it again: you tell a lot about an ethnicity just by the way they treat their women.

      • Beachwalker

So thats why the kid couldn't help her out, what about the 3 adults? I'm sure at least one of them was married and could touch another womans baby carriage. How ridiculous! She is absolutely right that NO MAN in Gerrittsen Beach would not offer help. It's common consideration. Unfair to hide behind religeon as an excuse to exclude everyone else on the planet.

        • bagels

I think it's sad and a little scary. What if the lady with the carriage and young child had hurt herself and needed medical attention? Would that group offer assistance at that point and mind the child while she called someone to come and get her? If she was really incapacitated would they have a spark of humanity and call 911? What do the rules say about this scenario? The kid who wanted to help was going to assist in moving a baby carriage. That does not involve touching a woman.

    • Just B. Cause

Thank you for the most humane sentiment on common decency.

      You should be everyones neighbor.

I wish my neighbors were more like you.

    • Anonymous

why were you trying to bring a double stroller through such a small space???? There are different cultures in this world and they do not all believe the same way you do. Bring a single stroller next time.

      • gbchickie

i had 2 babies in 18 months…i have a double stroller, the older boy child loves to run-i thought the fields were a perfect safe place to go…as the other folks were rounding up for their games, i decided to leave and i got stuck…next time ill consider having my babies further apart to not annoy anyone with my cadillac of strollers-lol

the absolute audacity of me thinking i can use the amenities in MY neighborhood freely…lol…maybe i need a permit

    • Anonymous

Well how did you get the stroller in the park? Did you not have the same trouble getting it in? Something smells fishy.

      • gbchickie

i walked in at the field across from the drug store and tried walking out across from leos…smart ass

  • Anonymous

They're all about them, and anybody who calls them on it is anti-semtic.

They're just selfish and rude in that way but I'll take them way over Muslims.

  • ugh!

ask anyone and they'll tell you that jews are SLOBS…even fellow jews will tell you that… i'm sure there are enough parks in their own areas that they could play in and destroy.. but i guess we have to be nice to them…one day i'm sure these little guys will be our doctors, dentists and lawyers.

  • STOP SIGNS

I KNOW this is off topic, slightly, but people you gotta start STOPPING at stop signs. This morning was my third near close accident in a month because someone HAS to completely disregard a stop sign. In no way am I trying to anger or piss anyone of my fellow beachers off, but come on people, we really need to take 2 seconds to stop and look. "This is why we can;t have anything nice?" No one is going to have a nice car or "nice" monthly insurance rate when people are flying through stop signs at 50mph. Just take a moment to stop and look… No one wins when we hit eachother. Both our rates go up, which are high as it is, and our cars get fucked up. Thumbs up, thumbs down, I don't care…. Just take it easy.

  • Brett Favre

I highly doubt it is these yeshiva boys who are leaving the park dirty. I am also pretty sure that these boys read english a lot better than half of you gerritsen beach trash.

    • Anonymous

Seems to me your mouth is nothing but trash! Maybe you are one of those yeshiva boys leaving the trash. Stuff it back in your mouth.

      Just clean up your mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • JD

The original story was edited, here is the original quote:

"These camps come in from outside of the community usually because Marine Park is filled and then they come here and use all four baseball fields."

Notice the words "outside the community" were removed. Most legit bloggers would not edit their posts but would strike though the edited part so readers could tell the post was edited.

  • Isn't the parks dept responsible for the clean up? It seems like they do little else.

    • Fred Perry

That's hardly the point. There is such a thing as personal responsibility, and cleaning up after yourself is a basic responsibility.

Didn't anyone here play in The All – American soccer league? I remember the league always had black contractor bags for all the cups and garbage. True, there would be some refuse here and there, but for the most part people left the fields in the same condition they found them. Why should we rely on the Parks Department to do something that the people themselves should be doing?

As stated earlier by Mr Dunne, people should feel free to introduce themselves to groups and politely ask them to take their garbage with them. And if you don't feel comfortable doing that, call then call the Parks Dept. proactively, and ask that they check for a permit.

  • Anonymous

I am somewhat confused , is it the clean-up that is the problem. Or the people who are using the park..? Both ? I am sure that my comments will cause some to vote me down and others to vote me up…. Whatever , its a horse race… I lived for many years in Lawrence Long Island it was a nice mixed area.. Then the Hasidic's came… First they secured their borders, buying houses on the fringe of the Village… Then buying up the rest over time….They block voted and eventually took over the school board… Every School budget was turned down until the public system was pretty much ruined… Some Schools had to close and the land sold.. Their children went to Secular Schools which were well supported by the Community they did not need you, if you were not Hasidic… I drove on Friday after sundown and on Saturday.. They would gather around my car or block my way wanting to know when I would leave their neighborhood…They formed a private Ambulance Service, that you could not use if you were not of their faith. Less a "Goy" should contaminate the vehicle….Most will not speak to you, and they don't speak Hebrew it is Yiddish ,sounds something like a German dialect. Knowing some German I could pick up some and it was not friendly… They will not hurt you. Like the woman with the stroller. They just will not help you… You will never work for a Religous family, They only use their own.. It is a closed society to outsiders

I know by now,you are saying " Thats in Long Island" where the neighborhoods are small… Let us not forget what 278 was going to become a Hebrew Magnet School… Because the Religious Community is consoldating power in Marine Park… None of what I am saying is Anti-Semetic just a fact as to how it works within the closed society, they choose to live in…What you are seeing in the ball field is only a beginning , not just a one off…

While week after week we in GB are posting over ATV's dirt bikes or neighbors who don;t clean the yard…. Or going back and forth over some idiotic comment about drunks or criminals in our neighborhood.. There are some facts we better face down here and ask Politicians some tough questions.. They have the ans. They may not, share them with you, but they do know… You have the Vote, let them know if you disagree And if you do block vote them out… On a lighter note like UGH said someday one will screw up your teeth, another will botch your surgery, and you will have to hire the third one to sue the other two……. If it is the clean-up you will be getting Mellinum Developement….

    • anon

Very good post at 12:50 A.M. The ballfields will be the tip of the iceberg. They will try to buy up GB houses and run the neighborhood. I saw how they operate on 9/11. They had vans only picking up and giving water to their own. The vans were waiting at the Brooklyn side of the Manhattan bridge.

None of them look happy in life. Their women looking angry and frustrated. You know they must want to sleep with a goy and not their fat, ugly slobs they are married to.

    • Anonymous

They already have! My neighbor just told me the other night that they knocked on his door asking him to sell his house to them. He told them not interested and that its not for sale.

  • Anon

I say we all go up there, pick up the visiting citizens mess, and then evenly distribute it on first base, second base, third base and home plate. :-)

  • JFN's Mommy

I've been complaining about these slobs for a long time! Not only do they leave a mess but the double park and sometimes triple park on the avenue. PLUS they block the bus stops so if you want to take the bus you have to stand in the street so the driver can see you. One actually had the nerve to ask me to move out of the bus stop so they could park there. I refused and they double parked somewhere else.

Why isn't the city over there writing tickets while they are there?

And FACT their neighborhoods are FILTHY they probably can't use their own parks because there is no room with all the garbage.

    They destroy everything they touch

          • Anonymous

Oh yeah Matty, lets not make derogatory comments about the Irish Americans. Lets get back to making derogatory comments about the Jews. Idiot.

          • Matty h

The thread was about a specific situation at the fields. If you read the entire thread you would see that I have not made derogatory comments about anyone. As a matter of fact I made a rather clear comment stating that I believed it was a combination of those from the beach and outsiders. I never mentioned any race, creed, religion or the like. Much like Fred,I believe that undermines the argument in question by giving those that disagree an easy way to end the argument by making it about discrimination and disregarding the facts.

I would assume that those that read the entire thread would find a better candidate for the label of idiot. But why read the entire thread when you can sling mud while hiding behind the Anonymous label. It is hard to believe one would follow the entire text here if they cannot even grasp the point behind my statement about attacking others without posting their name.

This thread is about trash in our neighborhood parks, that is a big enough issue to tackle without having to get into these diatribes relating to online etiquette and people's misunderstandings.

    • resident

they should have permits the jews just to be even there, i would call the parks department and asked to see their permits next time they show up, there a bunch of hogs

  • Mary E

the parking issue is definetly a problem…and I have actually parked legally and had someone ask me to move so they could park the bus…..not to mention if you leave your car in the bus stop by the laundromat to run in and get your stuuf…whoops the ticket police are on you like they were hiding somewhere,,,,and yet all these buses etc…never have a problem….use the parks..they are public..we dont own them…but clean up…and park legally!

  • JFN's Mommy

Anonymous we are not all drunks. AND even if we did leave them around the Chinese come and pick up the cans.

Wake up people !!!! You have to be kidding me that you have a promblem with these kids coming and using the fields, that by the way no else is using them. Have they caused any crime wave, no. Have they taken anything or asked anyone for anything, no. So what they double park, half this neighborhood does, ever been outside the school in the morning or at dismissall. Maybe, just maybe if these kids and their school enjoy their time at the fields just maybe they will and can be the ones who make the calls to make much needed improvements up there. I'm sorry but you're crying to the wrong one here, I'd rather have a 100 children then 100 cricket players with bbqs and a hot dog stand

    • Nick Lakiotes

It's not the kids, it's the TRASH left behind.

      • anonymous1

I agree with you these people go there to play ball, they keep to themselves and don't make or want trouble. I would rather see them up there than the hot dog stand and all the cricket players along with the picnic's that have been going on recently … these people come down to Gerritsen because it is quieter and safer than other parks in the city they just want to watch their kids play ball….

        .BUT

they do need to start cleanng up after themselves along with all of people who use the fields!

    • Anonymous

I was under the impression that no bbq was allowed up there?

  • Nick Lakiotes

Could collect the trash, follow the buses out and kindly hand over all of it back. Does anyone actually know from what section of Brooklyn, or even what charter the buses are coming from?

    • pittyboy67

Its not the kids who leave any garbage I live accross the street. Its the cricket players who leave all the garbage One even parked in my driveway you believe that. leave the kids alone they are just playing

      • Nick Lakiotes

Never implied of doing ANYTHING to the kids. WHOMEVER is leaving the large amount of trash up the fields should be held accountable.

It's not the kids that people are complaining about it's the inconsiderate adults that take them and pick them up. I'm sure the cricket players help dirty up those fields too, I just saw the ridiculous crowd last Sunday.

i truly dont believe these jewish kids do any damage, i live in GB and see them there alot, they dont bother anyone they just go there to enjoy a nice day at the park and play some baseball, nothing wrong with that at all, it pisses me off that the scum that call this place home do it and dont have the balls to say yeah it w and s us, instead they tag it on innocent kids just trying to have a good time, all the racists down here are tiring me out, ok their jewish big deal, whenever they come everyone has something to say about them, just shut the fuck up, leave them alone, if theyre not bothering u dont bother them, and dont tag innocent people for doing things that the shit kids from down here do, im tired of all the bullshit and racism that goes on down here, this is why tis neighboorhood gets a bad rep because of little minded people that live here, who dont know better, its sad that they dont, i really feel bad, this was once a nice place to live, its not anymore and its sad, i especially feel bad for these groups that come down here to enjoy themselves, they can come if they want, there no sign that says GB only, im just tired of the racism and all the scum motherfuckers down here its sick and has to stop

  • Brett Favre #4

and to be honest with you, blaming other for something u did, had always been GB's montra and it always will be its sick, and these skells need to grow the fuck up.

While everyone complains about the Jews, the black cricket players with their loud music, food wrappers, and rude ways are ten times worse of a problem.

I would assume that the garbage is left on the perimeter of the baseball fields and the cricket field. I think a group of people should band together and collect the garbage and deposit it ON the playing fields so that these people would actually have to clean it up in order to play. Maybe they'll understand this message….

hahahhaaa i love how you people see what i wrote and know forn a fact its the truth and remove it, you fuckin deliquents, cant accept the fact you got told off by a person who knows the truth

we should record the bus number and name associated with it and report it to our community organizations and political representitives.

I believe they would make a much stronger impact if handled properly and not by a series of negative comments against people due to how they dress or what language they are speaking.

It is also important to have a Parks Department employee make an appearance at said times to document who is using that field and assigning blame as needed based on circumstances.

I doubt there is any assigning of the blame to anyone or any group. The real responsibilty to clean and maintain the fields is with the Parks Department. Do you really thing they need to send a representative to see the fields are being used, hence when they are used they need to be cleaned and maintained. Instead of ponting fingers at children who are actually enjoying the park why not point the fingers at the real dirt bags, the one's who's dogs crap all over the fields, leave their beer and gatorade bottles, (you can bet your mortgage those kids aren't brining Gatorade or beer bottles with them), empty nickel bags, condom wrappers, etc Do you think these things are being left at the fields by anyone other then those from our own community

  • Wherein i don't like getting involved in neighborhood problems (as i don't live in the beach anymore) I was trying to help with what seems to be a (minor) issue, I t would appear that Mr. Perry did not understand my comment….Well here it is again….The parks Dept is…..Responsible to do the clean up!!! weather on not that is the point!, In addition I do agree that all should clean up after themselves and not doing so is wrong.

    most regards

    • Fred Perry

I understood you perfectly. I agree that the Parks Department should do more and be notified if problems arrive (look at many of my past postings. It seems you, me and one other person is in favor of ever contacting the Parks Department.)

My response was to say we cannot and should not depend on any government entity to take care of this issue for us. People need to be proactive and confront groups who do not clean up after themselves and if that doesn't work call the Parks Department to enforce its rules. They won't do it on their own.

Whatever happened to the Semi-Annual GBCares cleanups? The community really came together for those. I remember cleaning the GGRMMBBR site once and taking out hundreds of bags of trash.

I think somone from the beach should be at the fields on a daily basis to watch these ppl come on take pictures and if its a camp take their info as well as pics from when they leave the garbage and report it so they can play for the clean up this should be brought up at meetings as well as to gerristen beach cares because this is getting out of hand

  • glorious toes

even though people from outside may leave garbage here, i hope everyone knows that it's not only them. just look at the seba ave skate park, that garbage is from kids from here as well. not everyone in this neighborhood cares about how it looks, and they contribute to the mess. don't lay all the blame on the outsiders.

Just how glorious are those toes?
