DSC_1314

The Traffic Enforcement Agency has apparently discovered Gerritsen Beach’s nook and cranny’s . Recently we have been getting tickets EVERYWHERE.

First Beacon, reports of wrong way dead end parking on Madoc, Garland, Eaton. We are on someones radar.

Now the point! Check out the pictures above and below.

…that's a good thing – generate money via fines for law breaking.

I dinged your response, but only because it seemed sarcastic. There should be a step up in fines for rule breakers. Anything to preempt tax hikes!

Yeah the red Honda doesn't deserve a ticket. Everyone should be allowed to park like that in front of bus stops.

If there was other neighborhoods that had a dead end/bus turnaround, they would be getting tickets daily for cars parked there. What makes us so special?

Maybe its a good thing.. the cars at the point hopefully belong to the outsiders who go to the beach and leave all the trash. I say ticket them all!

Are there clearly posted signs? I know there had been, but the D.O.T. doesn't consider Gerritsen Beach a priority for replacing downed signs. In these images I don't see the familiar Red and White No Standing/Parking signs.

If there are, then too bad. It's only a half a block walk to plenty of free, legal parking.

I called 311 for stop signs and they were up in a flash. It takes one phone call. They can't be everywhere at once but they'll give priority to requests.

I work for the D.O.T. and Stop signs are a required safety devices. The D.O.T. criteria for expediency is purely subject to safety. A parking sign is a regulatory sign and is pretty low on the list of priorities. And since there are no Parking Meters on Gerritsen avenue, very few routine inspections take place, so short of a 311 call it is unlikely signs will be replaced.

But keep up the watchful eye. The 311 call is literally our best friend.

All the positive remarks in this case, I guess none of which thats were ticketed is this case have anything to do with this site or even live in the area. Assuming this is true why should there be such negative attention given toward last weeks ticketing within the dead ends or anywhere else in the neighborhood. My take would be negative attention is more recognized than positive throughout the community and with that said, Is it OK to ticket "Outsiders" as some of you put it opposed to ticketing those that live in the neighborhood? A violation is a violation no matter who does it or where you are. Like I said earlier, It should come as no shock now and for all of you that have been doing it all these years, shame on you. Your ticket time is well over due. Do the right thing and you'll be fine. The beach is certainly on teh map now and with the amount the city made in the last 30 days alone, do not expect any decrease in activity. What has to happen now is we need to protect ourselves and our buddies instead of ignoring it or being the one to say "I told you so", help each other out to get rid of the ticket agents, let them make their money in Bergen beach instead.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 9 Thumb down 5

Much of what you said is true except for the residents vs. 'outsiders' implication. The dead end street issue is a legitimate problem in terms of the need to clarify the regulations or come up with a fair, realistic regulation for a dead end street in which a driver can't turn the vehicle around for lack of space. Anyone, resident or not, should be ticketed if they're not following traffic rules/ parking regs and the comments clearly indicate that most would agree.

But they aren't making their money from Bergen Beach, they're making their money from Gerritsen Beach. Maybe you should ask why the sudden attention.

It's one thing for them to come down and ticket the illegal, but I think that EVERY day and night cruising around is harrassment. They are all of a sudden on a mission to make our lives miserable. Parking here is horrible and what choice do we have sometimes? Park up by the school and walk a mile home?

I wish they would cruise this area on the weekends, there are 2 to 3 cars deep at the end of the avenue, some are racing cars and ATVs up and down all day so that residents have to listen to it and hope it's not their vehicles that get damaged when these buttholes lose control. The buses can't turn and it's only a matter of time until someone gets killed.

          I say ticket them all!

they have been ticketing people all the time inthe bus stop by the laudromat….i think they hang out around the corner….People pull up to drop off and bingo they have a ticket….of course, shouldnt be parking in the bus stop..so taking a chance…Also, see them riding up and down the courts and avenues checking registrations..etc…. keep your stuff current…

I agree that people should obey the law, including parking regulations. The traffic agents should look for ALL the 'lawbreakers' on a street. On my block 1 person got a ticket for parking the wrong way. There's another vehicle on the block that also parks the wrong way as well as parking too close to the fire hydrant. That vehicle was spared any tickets. Also, when this family has company they park if front of this vehicle, totally blocking access to the hydrant. Sometimes there are 3 or 4 vehicles parked blocking access to the fire hydrant, a driveway & other cards from getting or off the block.

Traffic Agents are the biggest scumbags in the city. Thats why I never give them the chance to summons me I always park legally it takes some extra time but its worth it I'm not giving this city one penny more they get enough out of me already F*ck them

can't park anywhere anymore, who care if there cars parked down the point, as long as there not acting disorderly should be able to sit there and enjoy the scenery!

If you are parked illegally and out of your car why shouldn't you get a ticket???

Who from the beach actually parks at the end of Gerritsen avenue and leaves there car there? I believe the people parking there are people who think they are above the law, leave there cars and go enjoy the beach at the end… OH BTW they probably can't read the signs that say No Parking…..because they don't know the language!
