2009 Runners Take Off Down Gerritsen Avenue
Dan’s 5k Fun Run in Gerritsen Beach, has grown to be a must to-do event for runners (and walkers) in our area. It has also become a great event for runners in the brooklyn area to participate in.

This year’s run will be in memory of Jerry Bradley and Reverand Father Marciano M. Caliwan. Jerry Bradley was a past coach for the GB Huskys in the 70′s. Father Marciano “Mark” was from resurrection.
All benefits will be donated to the Circle of Hope Cancer Foundation.
Dan Foster was diagnosed with rectal cancer a decade ago. His doctor, anticipating surgery, told him that dropping from 230 to 170 pounds would greatly assist his recovery. He lost the weight and, having experienced the fruits of exercise for the first time in his life, has since embarked on many long-distance fund-raising walks. In 1999, a recurrence of the cancer spread to his lungs, but he now has a clean bill of health. He organizes Dan’s 5K Fun Run for cancer charities from his home in Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn.
