This is all of the information provided.

Isn’t the name, race, age, etc. of the person part of the public record when arrested? I’m not certain of that, but if it is, maybe you can find out how to obtain it now for future reference.

That was all the information provided, which means to me no questions were asked nor was any so called investigative reporting done. Was that what the sergeant or police Officer(s0 said at the Property Owners meeting ? Again an example of the PD not being prepared for the meeting or maybe just not taking the community serious. This person’s picture should have been posted all over the community media for all to see
The pedrigree of an arrestee is public information (including their picture) up until the time the case maybe dismissed in court. So how about finding out some valueable information for the community
        when was the crime
when & where was the arrest made
        how was the arrest made
who was arrested – name, age, address
        previous criminal record
        what happened at arraignment
what is the status of the court case
where and to who can WE as a community write to to make sure this individual pays their dues to society and goes to jail and / or does not get early release for so called good behavior

If you need more suggestions for questions or crime reporting we’ll be glad to help

i think burglury is the “break in” and robbery is when any items are stolen…not the same crime under the law but usually if your breaking into a home or car you are intending a robbery

          Robbery

Robbery is the taking or attempting to take something of value from another person by use of force, threats or intimidation. It is committed in the presence of the victim. Robbery is commonly known as a “holdup” or a “stickup” (i.e. bank robbery or mugging).

Robbery is usually divided into different ‘degrees’. The degrees vary by state and can also depend on whether a weapon or something that appears to be a weapon was present and/or if an accomplice was present. Any degree of robbery is considered a felony by law.

You might also hear the term ‘aggravated robbery’. If a suspect makes a victim believe that he has a deadly weapon by showing a weapon, saying he has a weapon or displaying something that appears to be a weapon, it is aggravated robbery.

          Burglary

Burglary is the unlawful entry of a ‘structure’ to commit a felony or a theft. Burglary is commonly known as a “break in,” or, “breaking and entering.” A ‘structure’ is usually in reference to physical buildings but not cars. Car break-ins or thefts are considered larcenies.

Burglary does not necessarily translate to damage. It is still considered burglary if someone enters through an unlocked door or window with the intent to commit a felony or theft. This is called ‘non-forcible entry’.

‘Forcible entry’ is when windows and doors are broken or forced; screens, walls or roofs are broken; tools are used; locks are picked, etc. You might also hear about ‘attempted forcible entry,’ which is when a burglar attempts to enter but is frightened off.

          Larceny

Larceny is similar to burglary. The major difference between the two is that the perpetrator did not illegally enter a structure by using forcible, non- forcible or attempted forcible entry (with the exception of a motor vehicle.)

All thefts of motor vehicles or from motor vehicles (parts, accessories, personal property) are considered larcenies whether the vehicle was locked or unlocked.

Along with motor vehicle theft, larcenies can include purse snatching, shoplifting, theft of any bicycle, fraud, embezzlement, identity theft, forgery, con games, etc.

You might have heard of ‘grand larceny’. In the U.S., this is usually defined as stealing an amount valued at $200 or more. There is also ‘petit (petty) larceny’, which is a smaller amount stolen.

WIF.. the Penal Code never seperated burglary and robbery based on time of day. Want to be law expert, a robbery is comitted against a person or persons, burglary is against property.
The only crime ever to be seperated by day and night times in the Penal Law of this State was Arson

IMHO, I think you ‘screw up’ every time you let a blatantly off-topic, disgusting, incendiary comment stand. It’s not a freedom of speech issue – it’s an editorial issue for the sake of the integrity of the publication and the community.

As a newcomer to this site drawn to it through GB memories and blog popularity, I have to advise the reporter to proofread his/her work for the sake of credibility. The site has an impressive amount of community participation and usage, but GB.net, you have consistently “screwed up” grammatically. Indeed you are right I am no grammatical genius. The Villiage Voice even points that out.

However, I try to be fast and accurate. I am not an editor. There is a drawback of struggling for content and then editing all the while living a normal life.

sorry for you all, that’s not true don’t know where you heard that, it has nothing to do with what time the crime was done, robbery is when something is taken from a someone with force/weapon involved! its a burglary person was inside a home without the right to do so, and removed items that didn’t belong to home…as for the race of this person, he is black (most def) most people that live in brownsville are black, and alot of people that come from there are bad, so we should all consider our selfs lucky he didn’t have a weapon cause lots of people from there don’t play with a full deck! and not everyone is bad most a very high majority of the people are

Pay attention to where the discussion is going folks…Who really cares if its Burglary or Robbery. Bottom line things were stolen from a home from a dirtbag theiving criminal who Im sure is no rookie. People (kids) could have been involved possibly injured, the attention needs to be refocused to raise the situational awareness of all the people in the neighborhood and increase the deterence of outside scum..

I agree half the scum that come in to “cleanup” are msooking pot or drunk while “working” pfff thats a joke, these people wouldnt even know the beach existed if they werent persoanlly walked in. Once theyre in the see how vulnerable the community is. Half wont even look them in the eye as they “work” the other half pretends they dont see them and the whole time the scum is taking notes..Get real people its our own fault things like this happen.

while i agree that lowlife community service workers should never have been introduced to this neighborhood,it should be appreciated that the reason they are here is to improve our area while serving their time, how many people from down here will volunteer to do what they are doing?who’s going to give up their saturdays in 90 degree heat instead of shuffling off to guzzle their beers at breezy or seagate or kiddie beach?not too many!…what makes this community vulnerable is brought on by ourselves, most of us are absent because we have to go to work, those who dont work are either retired or drinking themselves into a stupor all day between playing numbers and buying scratchoffs, the point is,everyone should be intelligent enough to know who or what doesnt look right out there, all you need to do is keep an eye on it if you see something wrong either call it in or step up and take care of business like they did in the days before you were forbidden to confront”outsiders”coming here up to no good

“Be alert” is all you need to say. This is a good neighborhood, better than most. If you see something strange, try to stick around for a good description as you call the cops – period.

you’re right,be alert was the point, you’re also right about this neighborhood being better than most, but i have to disagree on relying on the cops, act first before something happens, let the cops sort it out later, they are good for nothing

Any solid proof to this accusation? Perhaps if the alleged reported got the name of the person and made an attachment of his arrest like he did with Mike McGrath perhaps we could check with the DA's office to see if the person on the community service program. Come up with a name – it can be checked.

Does that mean none of the people in GB have ever been arrested for anything – drugs, theft, we have plenty of our own and they do go to other areas to committ some of these crimes. What do you think those neighborhoods are saying about the criminals coming from GB.

we are paying attention, it is okay to answer someone’s questions you know? the guy was caught, what more is there to say! yes, i would like to know more about this person, and yes this bastard somehow winding up down here and hopefully that peice of shit gets what he deserves, bottom line we have to keep our ear and eyes open for people you know don’t belong down here, the days were we leave doors open and cars unlocked are over! and we always have to remember nostrand projects is 5 mins and although there not as bad as where this guy that caught came from, they are still projects and there is things going on there in recent months, so if you see people crossing over to gerritsen beach, just keep your eye on them! that’s all we can do at this point!

A 12GA with 0-0 buckshot will also work well on Burglars as well as Raccoons. You may shoot out a couple of your windows, but what the hell the break-ins will stop .Shoot for the chest area for a sure solid hit With plenty of knockdown power

Or you could bait the dirtbags in, may take a bit or maybe happen over night, eitehr way you need to be ready. Leave a few things that catch the eye, take some notes of your own. Have a few drinks stay up late night in the dark, no it doesnt make you crazy, it keeps you vigilant..Once the fukrs bite the line you reel them in. Completely beat the shit out’ve them with a 4×4, works everytime..Anyone can fire a shot and usually will only happen once, beat the shit outve them with a club…people think different afterward..trust me..
