New Look from Above – Seba Avenue Park

Seba Park 2

The almighty we call The Google has updated their satellite imagery for our area. These photos were only taken within a few weeks – do you notice the construction fence for the comfort area?

They only updated the overhead shots not the street views. The images must have been taken a little over a month ago – some recent changes to my house are not in the image.

Thanks for describing the overview GB.net.

At first look it reminded me of some photos I saw of circles in a cornfield in Nebraska. Thanks for bringing me back to reality.

On second thought, a flying saucer landing here in the Beach would really be cool.

When the Flying Saucer comes and decides to leave, maybe it will take the shelter vandels, dirt bikers and atv riders, and other assorted public nuisances back with them… Also the whackos from DOT who put all that stupid graffitti on our roads. And leave us with traffic lights and stop signs we so badly need…

Who's to say the spacecraft travelers aren't the ones doing the damage to the bus shelters?

      They meet all the criteria.

They are outsiders coming in to the Beach and they're also illegal aliens.

      AND

Don't blame the DOT for the stripes on Gerritsen Ave.

Is it possible they are actually landing patterns for the space travelers???

Now THAT would make lots of sense!!!

As far as your "civilized society" needing street lines. Today I was almost run down twice while standing in what should have been a "safe zone" Once while crossing to Victoria Pizza and once returning… What good are a bunch of lines, makeing Gerrittsen Ave. into essentially a two lane road….The way it is marked up there is no passing, or you are in a" tiger stripe" or safety zone. Two solid lines would have served the same purpose No Passing. What you really need is civilized drivers who obey the law…. The Society is fine , it is the drivers who are screwed-up.

You believe a double solid lines would have slowed things down or make the drivers any more responsible? A two lane road slows things down a bit. At least the more elderly or parents with several children have a spot to stand if there's a speeder. It's not a subtitute for street lights but if we weren't getting those because of federal guidleines (as explained by our representatives at a GBPOA meeting a couple of months ago) I'd rather have a place to stand. Its safe MORE of the time, versus NOT SAFE AT ALL with a double solid.

Perhaps I did'nt make myself clear enough for you…I was Standing in the "Safe Zone" when a speeding car. In an attempt to pass another, in the only open lane, entered the " Safe Zone" to pass. How safe was I ? Not safe at all. If I had not stepped back I would have been struck. Maybe they would work , if drivers understood what the area is…. I have been crossing Gerrittsen Ave for 60 + years and never had a problem when it was only a double line. You just stood on the line and crossed when traffic passed .As far as your Federal Guidelines on Traffic Lights. I am totally lost. What dose some ding-bat in Washington have to do with a local area getting Stop Lights installed ? I have posted on the lights before. If enough people REALLY wanted them you would get them.. Why wait until someone gets injuried, or killed while depending on the false safety, of a safety zone ? Look, even the light at 277 was only installed when a teacher Mrs. Sattori was in a hurry to go home at 3PM She lost control and pinned my friend Chris Jensen up against the telephone pole, and ,he was the student crossing guard. Keep your false safety. Give me traffic lights and to hell with Washington !!!!

I'm for traffic lights also. However, I've mailed each of my representatives several times – including Aniothy Weiner. They all blame the federal guidleines for not moving on the traffic lights. Until that happens the current set up is better than a double line by far. In this case you survived, with a double line you may not have. The idiot who drove into the so called safety zone would just as readily drive across a double line -but overall its safer.

I have to concede to you that I am glad that I survived. Maybe you are right ,it is somewhat better the way it is… Glad to hear you are politicial active in your letter writing but we must do more…. One of my biggest fears is that no one will listen ,until a major tragedy occurs. We deserve better from our local and federal elected politicians…. We all who post on this site are sometimes confused as to what is important , ATV's dirtbikes, skatepark, outsiders in the area.etc.etc.. If we put all our efforts into one issue, in this case Traffic Lights or speed bumps. We will be much better off I have stated here before the City only fears two things Voters and Lawsuits I hope it will eventually be the former and not the later that gets us what we need…

There were 2 men screaming about $160 tickets for blocking the bus turn around at the end of Gerritsen Avenue–claiming there are no "NO STANDING" signs there. Look again, there is one on the bus stop pole and one on the telephone pole.

The Lone Ranger and Silver know….
