Kiddie Beach Open Mic Night a Success

4

Kiddie Beach held it’s first ever Open Mic Night over the weekend. The event was organized by George and Patty Smyth of Ice Cream U Scream and Diane Sullivian of the Gerritsen Beach Property Owners Association. The event has been in the works for months and was in part designed to help curb local teen angst.

“I think everyone should really appreciate all the work that George did. He really worked with the kids, let them rehearse in his basement and he even closed down the ice cream store on a Friday night in the summer to do it.” said Maureen LaPorte who’s son participated in the night.

  • Yes sir.

It was definitely a great night. Something for the kids to look forward to, younger kids included. I hope events like this one can be organized over the summer and beyond. Good job to all kids involved (and the adults who got up and jammed too) and to those who put it all together!

George is a wonderful person and he really cares about the community and the kids in it. He is involved in property owners meetings and you will never hear him "slinging" mud. I suspect he is silently behing the scenes at many Gerritsen Beach activities and events. We are lucky to have him, and he runs an excellent business that he has improved considerably since he took over a few years ago. Everyone should stop in to the Ice cream shop to thank him.

If You must know!!!Everything!! The whole place needed a complete overhaul,& almost 4yrs later that’s how much work the store needed,Thousands of dollars later, sweat & hard work. The Old Owners were NEVER thought to keep the place long,it was a flip, they got away with fixing things just enough to barely make it last,Never for the long run. It’s sad to know that people can be that evil, rip people off just like that, people they know,it’s a small neighborhood, they are still around,no remorse or shame.

If you really need to know,Everything!!! The Old owners did absolutely NOTHING for the store, the store needed a complete overhaul, everything was done poorly, everything was barely fixed or in good condition.it was a complete flip from the beginning, the old owners never thought about the long run,it was a temporary money maker, there was no effort or care. Now the New Owners, after almost 4 yrs later, thousands of dollars, sweat & hard work were left to pick up the pieces. The Old owners should be ashamed, no remorse, it’s disgusting what they did to people, a family they knew from the neighborhood,it’s a disgrace because they are still around ripping people off everyday, run the other way when you see them, you know who they are!!!
