No, I agree what they are doing is stupid, and dangerous but for the most part people don't do that and if you want the cops to start going after every traffic infraction driving down the ave its going to be a real pain in the ass for EVERYONE. You guys are treating this like the neighborhood is being terrorized, its idiots doing stupid things that's it. Maybe what they are doing is worth a summons but what goes on everyday isn't worth having any type of scrutiny that would be needed to catch 1 or 2 idiots doing stupid things. Do you realize there is a law against everything basically? Certain laws are enforced during certain times, its reality my friend.

If you are obeying the traffic laws that apply to ALL communities you needn't worry about the police presence. I personally welcome the sight of them. If you really must meet with your friends, please do it safely and don't be so inconsiderate of the people around you.

Driveing around the 'Beach' has always been a hazardous thing… Years ago my Father was broadsided twice at Noel & Seba. Then was cut off by a car coming out of Florence Ave onto Gerritsen had a rear ender, and went to the Hospital. Then had his driver side door ripped off in front of Jacks…. Not all in the same night of course. And that was at a time when there was less cars around..

WOW! I'm pretty sure that the white truck is the one that was up my butt last week on Gerritsen Avenue. So, I put my right blinker on and pulled over. I won't let anyone intimidate me on the road as a new driver and I would rather be safe than have to speed up because they decide to do 50 in a 25 zone.

New driver acted in the wisest fashion by pulling to the side..
There is noone more dangerous than a fool and a coward – you don't know what they will do.
Too often we let these morons get to us personally as make it a macho thing – Reacting – slowing to a craw, horn blowing,cutting off brings us down to their level. It is these mental midgets that come out of a car with a bat or a gun. Windshields do not stop bats and air bags don't stop bullets

you got vans and suv's parked on the corners of every ave and you need to get half way out from the courts to see any oncoming traffic..from the aves to gerritsen you got parked and double parked cars blocking your vision there so you need to creep out slowly while trying to watch the people crossing the crosswalk and kids on bikes not even looking plus the people that just turn blindly from gerritsen onto the aves without looking to see if any cars are coming out so its a disaster waiting to happen if people arent aware of the surroundings

I'm new to the area but have honestly worried about having a BAD accident when people give up their right of way while I'm waiting at a stop sign at an east bound avenue turning onto north bound Gerritsen. They are turning onto the west bound avenue and should just cautiously go like the rest of the world would do, but instead they stop?!?!?!? I'm the one with the stop sign. I don't get it? Then they wave you on to go but another car is coming up behind them going 50 and going straight so if I hit them it would be my fault for going through the stop sign!!! I've only seen this in GB, and I've driven in both ghettos and wealthy neighboorhoods. Some law on the Gerritsen books they didn't tell me about?

Anonymous, yes that happened just yesterday at the corner of Bevy/Everett. North bound car on Bevy with stop sign can't see around HUGH suv parked on southwest corner so he creeps out and hits east bound car who loses control and slams into an additional 2 cars parked on west bound Everett. Nice.
I'm gonna say if a corolla, sentra, civic, etc. was parked there, or better yet no car at all none of this would have happened.

I park on sidewalks, I speed, I don't pick up my dogs shit, I double park, I go down one ways in the wrong direction, I run stop signs, I run red lights, I make illegal U-Turns, I drive in the median, I drive in the shoulder, I park in handicap spots and I'm not handicap, I park at fire hydrants, I follow police and ambulances when they're going to an emergency so I can run the red lights with them, I could care less if you have the right away, I do not yield to pedestrians (ever), I don't signal, I run red lights, Oh wait did I say that already? Well, to be cool around here you must run red lights…DUH!

This happens all the time. Why should anyone be surprised? Not only is this taking place all the time but how many of you actually stop at the STOP signs on each block going onto Gerritsen Ave? The most guilty ones are mothers driving their kids to school. They come speeding down Cyrus Ave. and DO NOT STOP AT THE STOP SIGN. They are halfway out on Gerritsen Ave before they even slow down. All we need is someone from the Dept. of Transportation or the police handing out tickets to these unsafe drivers and our city's budget problems would be solved.

I complained of cars running the stop signs from the small courts into the avenues and running the red lights at the school and Ave.W/Allen Ave. Nothing is ever done about this or illegal right turns being made into Ave X from Gerritsen (at the park) or illegal left turns from Allen into Gerritsen. Marty Golden, and 311 has been informed. Nothing gets done.
Does a child or senior citizen have to be killed before someone takes action?
There is no reason for cars to stop in the middle of a busy road to chat, especially in this day and age where everyone over the age of 2 has a cell phone.
These fools don't care about their neighbors or community, as the heading says I do as I please.

In the old section we have a number of people who live close to the corner who turn the wrong way down the one way streets as that entry is closer to their house/driveway – then they back out of the block when they are leaving. I'm waiting for a kid on a bicycle to come flying down one of those blocks and get slammed by one of these idiots.

Has anyone ever considered developing an actual Neighborhood Watch?? Maybe some of these Punks that have nothing but bad to do all the time would be beneficial to the neighborhood. They'd know what and where to look for the garbage going on, Im sure the tougher guys could keep corners cleaner, Im sure alot of things would change if all the so called Adults in the beach would stop blaming each other or each otehrs kids because not for nothing everyone is as guilty as the next in some form or fashion. Get the kids more involved with community affairs and stop depending so much on miracles and the 61st Pct. Be smarter, Influence by demonstrating and motivating.

Earlier today I took a walk down the avenue… in a matter of five minutes, I passed about 4 Russian people… WTF is going on? Am I the only one that doesn't want these dirtbags moving in to this area?? They are going to start opening businesses on the avenue and ruin this area like they have ruined everywhere else in Brooklyn.

If they fly the flag and respect the constitution then I don't mind; they should also be clean and considerate of their neighbors. That last bit is something lacking in a lot of the long time locals judging by the condition of their homes and their kids. What I Do mind is if they open businesses with signs in a foreign language.

I agree. If they don't want to learn english, then why come here? Aside from many obvious reasons of course. If I moved to a foreign country, I would immediately learn the new language! I wouldn't expect people to change their entire way of life and cater to my every need. It seriously is only a matter of time before Gerritsen beach turns into the new Brighton Beach… And some of you may have already noticed, there's a lot of houses for sale, and I know of two Russian families that have just moved in… Only a matter of time.

Some things about these people bother me, like today in one of the wholesale clubs that take anything back a russian woman was ahead of me returning 2 bottles of liquid tylenol almost empty, half a bag of salad, half a package of strawberries, some fancy wrinkle cream open and other assorted items and received $72.45 in return… Now I for one would never think of ripping businesses off like that but this is apparently what they think America is all about a place to take what they want…
