You are so right. I was going to crack wise about New Dutch now having crushed ice, but thank G-d no one was there, human or canine. I hope the driver is ok as well.
Maybe New Dutch will use the insurance money to clean up the store. I will NOT buy any type of food in that pig sty. They let dogs inside the store which is against the law. I have been in that store and witnessed a male dog lift his leg and pee on the bottom shelf when the bread is. Did you think it was wet because it was raining and the roof leaks? There is also an older woman who places her dog on the counter, the same counter where you place you food items. Shop where you want but there are other stores that are 100 percent cleaner than New Dutch.
well… not true. They might not be high on “Mary jauna or meth but plenty of adults not sure if there mature or not are likely to be drunk. No they don’ smash bus shelters but they do drive drunk.
so did they crash into Old Dutch, the actual building or the illegal fencing around the illegal ice box thats on a public sidewalk.
Glad it was the fence and not some kids waiting outside for their friends inside buying smokes or cold ones, I mean soda
It appears to me that the so called “illegal fencing” is not illegal at all. I think they have their own property fenced in. It lines up with the building behind it. Whether or not the “illegal icebox” is actually illegal I have no idea. Is it illegal for a business to place an icebox on their property outside of the building?
The fencing around the ice box is illegal in NYC, as is the ice box outside the store, unless of course they have a permit. The law was changed many years ago and thats why you do not see them on the streets like you did years ago. The fence is NOT around the property, as it is for the residence behind it. Fences are permitted to protect and show a property line not to enclose an ice box or a donation box or a bike rack or a hot dog stand, or an ice wagon, etc. If the boxes were legal don’t you think every store that sells ice would have one outside during the summer months.
Ice machines are a New York tradition I think. They’re all over the place so I doubt they’re illegal. This particular one doesn’t seem to extent too far out.
The comments on this site, concerning this accident, are just what I would expect to see. The lack of sense, and powers of reasoning that some of you use ,only could come from third or fourth graders. Why has only one comment asked about the driver ? Sure it was lucky that no one was standing on the corner. It certainly could have been worse. Why do you assume that the driver was drunk ? Is that the opinion you have of your fellow residents ? This driver could have had a stroke, a heart attack or maybe been a diabetic on low sugar. You are all so negative about this neighborhood, why don’t you move to a better place ? We really don’t need you here. I don;t understand why you post nonsense on a community web-site
I think nobody asked about the driver because the damage in the pics looks minimal and instinctively one assumes he’s ok. He’s elderly however so what’s missing from this story is the state of the driver now and how this happened. I’ve seen people recklessly drive and park facing in the direction of opposing traffic there in the past. I doubt this driver was in the process of doing the same but I wonder what happened. In any case, hope he’s ok.
Was he doing donuts?
Hot debate. What do you think?

How many times did you park your bike and drink a quarter drink there or tie your dog to that fence or place a baby stroller while you ran inside

Woodsy,
Absolutely right. Good thing a kid or dog didn’t somehow get injured.

In GB mature adults are the least likely to be drunk or high on Mary juana, pills or meth.
They are not the ones who smash the bus shelters
The ones who usually the wise derriere punks who don’t have a life. They spend their lives on crushed ice trying to be cool

Not if they don’t want to pay for box and the permit you claim to need. Who knows, maybe New Dutch does have a permit for it.

Sorry to learn about this accident, I hope all persons involved are ok.
I swear that’s the same ice machine that was there when I left GB back in 1977.
