The Eaton Ct tree is still down!
Maybe this will get repaired just as quick as the Frank Ct Flooding or Eaton Ct flooding..

If it is not touching any wires why doesn't the owner just go out and start breaking it up?

This is kind of a sticky situation because the tree appears to have been located on private property. Does that mean the home owner is responsible for hiring a tree company to cut up the tree or does the city do it because it is blocking the street?

Why should the taxpayer have to pay for a private tree, They don't live on the waterfront like the last one.

That's a good point but that's not a table top Christmas tree – plus it's leaning up against someone else's home. You need a professional tree guy to come and dispose of it. What if the home owner does not have the 1500 – 2000 dollars to have the work done? Do you have the chain saw, bucket crane and wood chipper and man power to help the owner "just go out and start breaking it up"?
Hot debate. What do you think?

That's why we have home owners insurance. Why is the city (us) responsible for everything. There is no fairydust or golden eggs, the taxpayer (working stiffs) get stuck with the bill for everything. I am tired of paying for a semi-socialist state.

Yeah and screw that guy who has tree leaning against his house. Let HIM pay for it. or let his insurance company pay for it and then sue the owner of the tree.
And who cares if people get get down the street. Screw them too.
Lets hear it for good neighbors

It appears from the picture that there are no power lines and that the tree is not sitting or resting on any house, not for nothing the Ladder Companies from the Fire Department spent a lot of time this weekend answering 911 calls from people for trees down and going around cutting trees that had fallen and leaving the remains for parks to pick up. So my question is doesn't the Vollies have a few chain saws can they help out and cut a little. Just a thought

It seems like "Bagel and Anonomous" are very concerned about the tree blocking the street. As it turns out, the homeowner (who I am friendly with), has placed numerous calls into 911, as well as, the Parks department. Every call told them the same thing "do not touch it and we will dispatch someone out to remove it" In addition, they were told that the Parks dept is about 8 days behind schedule. Police actually showed up at their house and told them the same thing – leave it until the Parks dept removes it. Now I'm not the smartest person in the world, but if every city agency is telling them to leave it alone, I would have to agree with them and not touch it. I would also like to comment about the working stiffs comment. Again, I know the couple that own the house and they too are hard working "Tax Payers" That being said, why should they pay taxes if they can't get the city agencies responsible to do their job?

I think even if they did, where would they put the cut up pieces? at least when the parks department does it the are able to remove the tree.

Easy, you become a homeowner and you own it all. Call tree guy, they cut and haul tree away, and you pay.

The tree is on private property. It is not a city tree. The owner and/or their insurance should be responsible for removing it.
What if it fell the other way and was in the neighbors yard behind them? Wouldnt they then be responsible for removing it? What makes this any different?

Take a deep breath and hear this, the Parks Dept will contract someone to come and remove the tree. The Parks Dept will then bill you for the contractor plus a city adminstrative fee. Its the home owners tree not the City's

……So you are better off calling a contractor yourself and shop around for a good price.
