Ave-U-Plaza is Born

photo 2

Apparently the stores on Gerritsen Avenue have a nifty new sign and a new name “Ave-U-Plaza”.

Interesting, not only because they didn’t want to spell out “avenue” but because the stores all have Gerritsen Avenue addresses, not one with an Avenue U address.

Is having a “Gerritsen Ave Plaza” kryptonite.

  • Unfortunately even Gerritsen Plaza would be harder to read at more than a short distance. Unless they had a bigger sign.

Life must be wonderful for people who get concerned with such trivia – the should go over to King's Plaza and cry "there's no king"

  • Whatever

Whatever. Who really cares what is written? They are not going spell out “Gerritsen Ave” unless there is a really catchy abbreviation for it like GERIT! Ave (Cue Tony the Tiger). I personally like the sign and don’t take offense to them not using my beloved ave on it. I mean let’s face it people, we have a pretty long name for an avenue. My GPS can’t even pronounce it without stuttering or making it into two words.

It's a nice little plaza and it shows this community is still trying but I definitely feel those stores should of have been written in pencil because I doubt most of them will survive there. "It's All about me now"? It sure is. Whatever

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 6 Thumb down 2

I think it is wonderful that these stores are opening here. It is a good place for them and the Liquor Store is a nice place. The gentleman behind the counter went out of his way to help with picking out a bottle of wine for a friend.

Lets give the place a chance! Who cares if it says Ave. U or Gerritsen Avenue?

  • [...] True Perfection Kitchen & Bath Designs has opened up at 3102 Avenue U, in the newly named “Ave U Plaza”. Just don’t tell the store owners that the avenue they’re actually on is Gerritsen Avenue, which kicked GerritsenBeach.net into a kiniption. [...]
