GB Marching Band to March in St. Patricks Day Parade
The GBCMB is thrilled to announce that they have been noticed by the judging committee of the NYC St. Patrick’s Parade. Their step off time is 12:20 as opposed to 2:30, the difference being a 4pm step off vs. at 1-1:30 step off. Keep a look out for the Band representing the fine neighborhood of Gerritsen Beach. The Gerritsen Beach Marching Band, and each person in the band is deserving of our highest accolades. They make the day for each patriotic parade or function. Seeing them march down Gerritsen Avenue, is reminiscent of small town America. So much so, I often think, we should secede from the city of New York and become the independent Town of Gerritsen Beach. The band members are familiar with the 100th Anniversary of the Martyr's Monument in Fort Greene Park, but many of their friends and neighbors may not be. A little over a year ago, a friend called. They needed a marching band for the ceremony. I telephoned Lillybeth Hanson, and with less than a week's notice, the Gerritsen Beach Marching Band arrived on the scene and turned what might have been a fine ceremony into a magnificent ceremony. The St. Patrick's Day Parade is in for a treat. Congratulations to each of you. Lilybeth, keep up the good work!

Too bad they weren't shown on TV. Alot of older residents and others were watching and looking for 'the pride of Gerrittsen'. This is kind of unrelated but I had heard a while back that Lily had a designed a Gerrittsen Beach flag. I would love to have one flying in front of my house, anyone know anything about it?

The pride of Gerritsen was awesome, they went down the ave heads high, big smiles and sounding great. Sorry don't have any pictures. Great job guys were proud of you.
