The park has meager amenities as of now. There will be a new seating area for the parents, a connection to the future bathroom, a fun and artistic spray shower (just look at that image.... i can't wait to see it!) I can't imagine the kids not enjoying and two new jungle gyms for the kids to climb all over. It's nice to criticize the improvements being made by looking at what it might not have that people want, but everything is a compromise when it comes to community design. I spoke with the council member's office and he has assured us that swings will be added at some point, but because of the small space available now, it isn't possible. If the community wants more swings, more swings we shall have. Also, though close proximity to the baseball field, the field will remain in tact. As was said during the meeting, high end materials will be used, increased play for the kids, an area for parents and grandparents to sit, enjoy and be able to watch their children in all areas and a lot of plants that will make the park fit in with the landscape of marine park. I'm certain that the parks department has the best interests of the community at heart. I hope the vandals in the neighborhood do not destroy this very expensive expansion. I'd rather see my Tax Money go to the reconstruction of the Bulkheads then for a Park that will get destroyed. I mean come on Canton Ct some of the houses are about to become water front property. Hell my SUV damn near bottomed out coming off of Eaton Ct at Seba Ave when was the last time our streets were seriously looked at and inspected. To hell with the parks fix our Community Streets first. As someone who works nights I am frustrated by the fact that I can not have any imput. It's enough. They should put the money into refurbishing 277 park that already has a large area already paved with nothing in it and is overcrowded on nice days. Fix the sprinklers up there. Even if Seba park is guarded and protected from vandalism for a while, eventually it will be destroyed. And then everyone will say we ALL shit where we eat. And to tell you the truth, if it turns into a destination for camps etc., I'll vandalize and destroy it myself, or applaud those who do. It is just the nature of some young teens who are frustrated with boredom. There are so many ways to better spend 4 million dollars. It would be better spent on our streets and courts desperately in need of paving or granting even a portion of that to a group like the Cort Club, The O'Connel-Newel youth center to actually do something for these kids that are 12-16 years old and are floundering. Hell, if we have to we could look to Bed Sty and East Flatbush for idas for youth programs, that catch at least some of the kids who parents are failing to do their jobs. Fund that. I agree Ray. And just to play devil's advocate, why do GB residents think they are different from any other community in the city. I live in MP and when my kids were younger I wanted to take them to the park on a weekday and see my neighbors, instead, I was greeted by those stupid yellow camp buses. The weekend? You can't even get into the playground. GB is being primed to accept the MP overflow. It would be naive to think that all that money is being spent tp provide an oasis that only GB residents are entitled to enjoy.
