Approximately two weeks ago residents started to complain about this manhole cover sinking on Avenue W near Gerritsen Avenue. The solution from DEP? half a wooden horse that has been there for weeks, blocking the street and blocking parking.

DOT has more important things to do, like standing around the Belt Parkway doing nothing while they close lanes in both directions during holiday time.
Hot debate. What do you think?

@Bugg, I hate traffic as much as everyone else and I drive on the Belt daily. You cant really say thay did nothing with all the trees they cleared to repair the bridges on the Belt. One of those bridges was rated among the 10 worst in the USA. They should have started this project years ago, ultimately it will only make us safer. Im no happy about the traffic either and we all know how fast the city operates…..

The guy who lives in that house is a psycho. He made an illegal driveway and makes life miserable for all of his neighbors. If you want a real story you should look into his and other peoples illegal driveways.

@Joeyisadouche, lol, every block has at least 1 psycho, he’s yours. That goes for all neighborhoods, not just GB. Steer clear of him and don’t look him in the eye, that makes them attack! Talk about illegal driveways, I saw once recently that wasn’t a driveway at all but a stockade fence that had driveway gate hardware on it to make it LOOK like it was a driveway, hysterical!

@, If anyone thinks their block doesn’t have a psycho, they should check the mirror.

There is one of these on Lois avenue & Gain Court in front of my house that I have reported after Christmas & nothing has been done either.

I would imagine most of the people that build these “illegal” parking spaces are prompted by their inconsiderate neighbors. I know of man who had a driveway installed and doesn’t use it and still parks in front of his house. This way if he goes out his is sure to have at least his driveway to park in when he comes back home. Meanwhile we lose the space that his driveway takes up when he’s parked in front of his house. Another home on my block has one resident living in it and actually owns three cars parked in the street exactly in front of his house. When he uses one of his cars he moves the other two so as to take up three spaces to ensure his parking space when he comes home. Technically these are all legal but you could imagine the frustration people have when they have to park on a different block than they live on because of this rude behavior.

@trainman,
Trainman I like your comment and to everyone else who commented on my post just curious to know how many of your psychos actually had someones car towed, and yelled at a pregnant woman for having her license plate over the easement. This guy and all the other psychos really should just move next to each other so the can live happily ever after.

@Joeyisadouche,
I wouldn’t call these people psychos. What I would call them are people that take that old saying: “a man’s home is his castle” too literally. I’m a longtime resident in this beach and I know it would be a much better place to live in if we all followed one simple rule. Do unto others what you would want them to do unto you.
Peace!

@trainman, Well said Trainman, it’s all about respect and common consideration. No matter what the topic is, it often really boils down to the same thing.
