The agency is ACs, Admin for Children's Services. If you want to have responsible kids, you have to make the parents responsible first. If you see or hear something you think is neglect or abuse, call 311 and report it. If it is an emergency call 911. Let's help those who can't help themselves. Bad parenting sounds more like child neglect and abuse so let's call it what it really is instead of sugarcoating it. There is a parents seminar by the way, it's called "prison." How far can one travel in Brooklyn without having a his/her picture taken - Big Brother is already here. If these miscreants could be marked with a bright dye at least parents could complain that his son/daughter were splashed by that lousy dye as they just happened to pass-by - that is as credible as "we got lost going back home to...." There are many parents in Gerritsen Beach and all over that just dont care. You should need a licensce or take a test to have a kid, but you dont. We can prosecute their kids for comitting a crime, maybe then they will see the problem. How else can the concerned citizens of Gerritsen Beach act? Have parenting seminars? There are plenty of neighborhoods with bad parenting practices and less vandalism (Im assuming). We could use some cameras or a naighborhood watch. Id have to join the masses though and say I doubt Iwould have time to participate in a watch, but would gladly give money to fund them or some cameras. And just a final note, I know many wonderful people who grew up in Gerritsen Beach, many doing great and noble things with their lives. We dont hear about them, and Im sure they outnumber the bad people. I doubt that your example is typical Gerritsen Beach parenting.
