It turns out that NYC Parks didn’t trim Gerritsen Avenue out of the kindness of their hearts. Turns out they had a helpful local hand pushing them.
John Douglas, President of GBCares, convinced Parks, by calling our park manager requesting them to come down and clean the avenue for the GBCares games.
Parks subsequently sent down maintenance crews for the next two days after Johns call to trim the avenue.
GBCares usually maintains Gerritsen Avenue, when parks ceased their operations a few months ago. John made the right call.

Saturday afternoon I was driving down Gerritsen Avenue and I am happy to say that it really is looking good, grass cut, trees trimmed and no papers on the ground. I am really happy to say that the Parks Department is doing a great job of taking care of the area.
