We May be Losing the Liquor Store

Some sad news to report we may be losing the Liquor Store (2688 Gerritsen Avenue)

In November 2006 we rather excitedly reported that the liquor store had reopened. After “turks” liquor store had closed.

but now …just as what happened with the “old” bagel store the liquor store may be closing due to a business dispute between two partners.

Im not sure if it will help at this point, but everyone should stop in and buy a bottle of wine!

It is sad that this buisness will be closing, after all of the wonderful work that they have put into this store.

I wish you would have asked me before you printed this. I just saw you Wednesday. To clarify things, we are not closing due to a dispute with our partner. When we opened this business, we opened as partners. 50/50. Shortly after we opened, my partners were presented with another business opportunity, you might be aware of Amici Cafe. Since then, Amici has been doing very well and they are devoting a lot of time to it. This is really the type of business they wanted to focus on to begin with. This is why we are either looking for a new partner, or, if that doesn’t happen, looking for somebody to purchase the business as a whole. We have been looking for this to happen for well over a year now. As luck would have it, our license expires in November and we probably won’t renew. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to call me. I will gladly clarify things for you. Thanks.

If anybody is interested in the business, please come in and see either myself or my husband. I will gladly show you around. Thanks for your support.

You should have listed it with a R.E. in the area. They usually can prep commercial owners for good marketing.

Actually guys the store has had a for sale sign on the top of the building for a year. It was listed with Best Seller. Apparently it wasn’t a very good location for the sign becasue nobody ever saw it. One windy day it blew down and we decided to put it in the window. Alas we have thought of everything except….the recession.

@Colleen, Good luck Colleen! I regularly patronize your store an not because it is convenient. I am always treated well by whoever is on duty, and it is clean and well-lit. You would never find me there under the old management.

sorry for your troubles. i definitely supported your business. However lately the stock is so limited that i have had to shop else where. it is hard to run a small privately owned business and i wish it had worked out better.

Thanks to all who patronize. It is because of you that a business usually stays afoot or fails. In this case, there are circumstances beyond anybodys control. I have faith that it will still be a great Liquor Store. They won’t sell to trash. Stock is limited because the distributors take off for a month in July. All at the same time. Hard to recoup from this. Saw it last year too. By Sept, stock will be good. It’s the tricks of the trade. Live and learn. Good luck.
