Tools being used by Gerritsen Beach Cares volunteers and staff have been stolen from their containers.
The equipment stolen includes: Weed Wackers, a speaker system, other maintenance tools..etc. Totaling a few thousand dollars.
If anyone knows where these tools are or who actually perpetuated the crime please call the 63rd Precinct as soon as possible.
If you can volunteer or can donate new ones, call GBCares at 718-648-3745.
You could always call GBCares if you know who stole these items, so they could be beaten talked to.

Has this happen before? Maybe Derricks or one of the neighbor buildings can volunteer to post a surveillance camera for future reference?

It makes sense that people breaking one law might be breaking others. They don’t have to be using the lawnmower themselves… they could give it to their parents, sell it… It’d be hard to weedwack and dirt bike :)

The problem is you have to install the camera first. The second problem is you have to install a second camera to watch the first camera because the first camera is going to get stolen.
The ignorance of this neighborhood goes to show where this community is heading.

@Old Section, Unfortunatelly we have no power or voice!!!! Look at Seba Park (glass park). We were supposed to get a nice park with bathrooms, we got a skatepark, a toddler park (with telescopes that no toddler could ever reach), and a paved area that is for what I have no idea. We got screwed cause the city does not care and we let them get away with it. We asked for one traffic light which would prevent accidents, they gave us painted lines… makes no sense. They continuously shove it in our face how we mean nothing.

@Frank, Actually I disagree. Thanks to lew fidler, who is out voice in the city council, we are getting an expanded tot play ground and bathrooms. This was always going to happen, it was always part of the plan.
Im not sure about you but the skate park is a great addition to the neighborhood.
@GerritsenBeach.net, Sorry but when I see it I will believe it. I only say this because the proposed plan was the bathrooms, skatepark, and toddler park. I was told that when they were building it that there was not enough money so they will do whatever they can, then I heard that it was not possible to put bathrooms up there. If it is true they have wasted money because they will have to rip up alot that they had already done. I know this is just hearsay but I have alot of friends in different organizations throughout GB. I wish that I had more time to get involved but I work alot and have young children. I write when I get home late at night. This is the only time that I can voice my opinion, Thanks to your site I feel I have a voice!
