More on Frank Court

Here is a small update that is part of the the saga of Frank Court.

George Broadhead, president of the property owners, ran into Carlo Gargano, Brooklyn Boro planner, and Edmund Eng, deputy director from DOT.

They were in the middle of laying down the temporary repair (as promised) on Frank Court. They removed the lip of asphalt that was blocking the water to the catch basin.

As of now there is no new meeting scheduled between the DOT, Frank Ct, and the GBPOA.

This may be the summer of getting some of our streets repaired. In the comments of various posts here on GerritsenBeach.net people have been bringing up various streets that are in need of dire repair or sections of courts

Some include:
Eaton between Bartlett & Cryus
Just Court
Mebla Court

Sorry, New Section you have sidewalks and you have generally have nicer streets but if you have a problem please comment.

@Lew from Brooklyn, OK, I called your office and they will get back to me. I would just like to post my story here so here it goes. A few years back when I had a new Gas line put in, the contractors who did the work punched a hole in my basement wall then cut a hole in the street to feed the new piping in for the Gas line. Now I have a deep depression where they cut the street and the rainwater runs along the new pipe and proceeds directly into my basement. It appears that the contractor did not compact the soil after digging the hole and now the water has found its way under the sidewalk. In addition to the compaction issue, it is clear that they did not seal the pipe penetration into my basement. The biggest concern I have is the cars and trucks that drive on the street, I can here the wheels hitting the depression and feel that they may cause damage to the gas line. Please look into this.

      Thank you,

      Jim Donovan

The ancient Romans built major aquducts which still stand today; they knew water ran downhill. This knowledge is apparently lost to the DOT… Frank Court comes to mind. A newer example exists at the Channel Ave. bus stop, parkside, where a new lake has been created as a result of the repaving job. Here again the stupid water refuses to run uphill.

There’s more stupid water that insists on sitting at Hyman and Seba. Years ago this was reported and shovels full of blacktop was added…Now the blacktop has crumbled and so has the hill and the sidewalk. Stupid water!

HERE IS THE LATEST: ONCE AGAIN, SENATOR MARTY GOLDEN’S OFFICE HAS ARRANGED FOR A MEETING TO BE HELD AT FRANK CT. ON FRIDAY, JUNE 26th at 1230.
(The June 12th meeting was changed to June 19th; it was canceled again, and now it is being scheduled for FRIDAY, JUNE 26th at 12:30 pm on Frank Court and Seba Avenue).
We believe the last meeting was canceled because the Commissioners knew there would be flooding following the rain. On the day I went to check on the different Courts, I ran into Carlo Gargano and Edmund Eng, from DOT. While they were there, a crew of 7 or more men arrived and power-hosed and swept all of the water from the middle of Frank Ct. into the drain. It was dry enough for Carlo Gargano to take pictures of the magnificent work they had done. We understand the matter of budgets, whether long-term, short-term or capital, but people are asking why it is that nearly a million dollars can be spent to repair a vandalized skate board park, and Gerritsen Avenue and Gotham Avenue can be resurfaced, when the surfaces most in need of repair, at their door steps, are getting inadequate patch jobs. On one Court, it was reported that the mail person would not deliver mail when the water became a sheet of ice. That sounds like a Federal matter. WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WHEN A DEVELOPER IS ABLE TO PROCEED TO BUILD MULTI-UNIT CONDOS’ AND THE COURTS AND ONE OR TWO AVENUES ARE OVERWHELMED WITH MORE TRAFFIC? These are the questions people are asking.
