What started in January with GerritsenBeach.net post “Frank Court Pond” . then again with an open letter to Lew Fidler in April “Frank Court Lake Still A HUGE Problem“.

Last month a meeting was held with Lew Fidlers Office, Marty Goldens Office, Residents of Frank Court, and of course the Gerritsen Beach Property Owners Association to finally resolve this issue.
Here is the Good News! Frank court will be getting repaired very soon, maybe even by June 19th!
Here are the details:
DEP will install a mid-block catch basin to help with the ponding issues with the middle of the block. Then DOT will attempt to repair and remove that asphalt lip blocking the catch basin at the end of Frank near Seba. This is not the final solution this is only a “quick fix”.
There is a new meeting scheduled for June 19th where all parties involved, Lew Fidlers Office, Marty Goldens Office, Residents of Frank Court, and of course the Gerritsen Beach Property Owners Association will discuss the reconstruction and long term plan for Frank Court.

The next meeting of GBPOA is scheduled for Wednesday, July 8th. Let’s hope we have a worthy report on behalf of all of the flooded Courts. If you have a problem on your Court, please attend the June 19th meeting, along with the folks from Frank Court. We are also inviting Greg Moss, to speak on behalf of ETO at the July 8th meeting. If you have any questions about the development on the old Danza or other properties, this will be your opportunity to ask them.

HOW ABOUT GETTING THE STORM DRAIN REPLACED ON THE CORNER OF CYRUS AND NOEL AVE.
COMPLAINED TO THE CITY SEVERAL TIMES SINCE LAST YEAR, THEY SEEM TO HAVE 2 SPEEDS SLOW AND SLOWER. PUTTING A BROKEN WOODEN HORSE ACROSS THE HOLE IS NOT THE ANSWER, FIXING IT IS. THE POLS ONLY CARE ABOUT GETTING RE-ELECTED SO THEY CAN DO MORE OF NOTHING.

@M.GROSSMAN,
If appears that a list will be made of blocks that are in dire need of repair. Such as that corner, Eaton between Bartlett and Cryus.
If anyone has any other blocks that are in need of repair please let me know.
Seba Avenue and Hyman Court street dwy is falling in.

M. Grossman, it is ironic, I took a picture of the storm drain you are referring to, 2 days ago. It’s outrageous! Crumpled concrete, and garbage beneath the sinking grate. It must have something to do with the quality (or lack thereof) of the materials and workmanship. Did they even think to clean it out at the time they placed a wooden horse to keep someone from driving into it? When one thinks about it, a daughter of the Orloff family was commended for her creative stenciling in front of the storm drains, not all that long ago. She even visited the President at the White House as a result. You would think one of the Commissioners would have seized the opportunity to perpetuate a good idea. Instead, the storm drains are ignored. There is also a gas cap sinking on Keen Ct. Maybe a “311″ call isn’t sufficient, maybe it should be a “911″ call. As soon as we can get confirmation of a time and location (preferably outdoors) we will notify everyone. From the input we are getting, one thing the community does not want, is another ‘town hall’ meeting to buy time through the next election.

UPDATE AND PHOTOGRAPHS TO COME. DEP FIXED THE DRAIN ON THE CORNER OF CYRUS AND NOEL THIS A.M. THE WORKERS DOING THE REPAIR CONFIRMED (BY OPINION) THAT IT WAS FAULTY CONSTRUCTION. THE REAL STORY HERE, IS WHO IS CONTRACTING OR SUBCONTRACTING SHODDY STREET REPAIR WORK?

@George R. Broadhead, GEORGE, Temporary fix or not it is a horrible job! They Lowered the sewer so now all our cars will bottom out at the end of the block. City
really needs to get it together. Doing the street the correct way would stop wasting the taxpayers money.

We came to the same conclusion about Frank Court. DOT HAS BEEN ADVISED. The lowered drain is nothing short of hazardous. A car has to maneuver over the spot as though driving over an oil pit in a garage. What about night time, or strangers making a turn onto Frank Court? How about swinging by after Gotham Avenue has been repaved.

@George R. Broadhead, GEORGE, MY QUESTION IS THIS HOW DID
GOTHAM AVE GET REPAVED SO QUICKLY? FRANK COURT AGAIN A MESS! WHY? CAN’T SEEM TO GET
WHAT THEY ARE TRYING TO DO. SORRY THE OTHER REPLY WAS FOR FRANK COURT. NOT CYRUS AVE.
VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THIS!

This Tuesday a.m., I checked on Frank Ct. and for the eyes downtown, or wherever the command post may be… The Sanitation Dept. had to remove the barrier and carefully maneuver the truck over the depressed (and depressing) grate. The Melba Court sanitation sewer, that has been reported to have been “fixed” twice, was being worked on again. The Cyrus & Noel Ave. storm drain is in the process of ‘curing’, but it required doing what should have been done in the first place. Who inspects the finished jobs? Who is the contractor who is doing such shoddy work, here and in other nearby areas? (e.g. Sheepshead Bay). As for Gotham Avenue, I refer you to Lew (Fidler) from Brooklyn — “on Gotham Avenue to be repaved”. It may be slow in the offing, but considering the rainy weather, there is no question that Marty Golden and Lew Fidler, have gotten DEP and DOT to act on the problems. The next meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, JUNE 19th on Frank Court and Seba Avenue–again! Get as many of your neighbors as possible to come out.
