Too bad no one provided a bio.

This is a great great thing for the community and people need to know!

Anthony was the best paperboy I ever had – many years ago! Welcome home Anthony!

It would be nice to know who the hell he was. Who can you talk to, to get the information?

Anthony is a good friend of my brother, Jimmy Brandow Jr. They, along with Tommy Christensen & Mike Daly, were in the Navy together. I believe Anthony, after active duty, remained in the reserves and became a Minister. His Mother was none other than the famous (50/50) Mary Melia from Kiddie Beach. I will try to get somebody to give you more info.

That’s a good point about adding something about who Anthony is, and if Coleen is working on it, we should know before too long. One thing that is known by many of us, but certainly not all of the people in our community, is that Buddy DeWitt has been responsible for those “Welcome Home..” signs, for years now. I’m sure Buddy would share credit with the Cort Club and others, but there is no doubt, he as been the person instrumental is finding out who has come home and getting the signs made and placed. It is now incumbent upon Jimmy Brandow, Jr., as a new member of the VFW, to enlighten his buddies. Welcome home, Anthony….

One addition: The sign read: U.S. NAVY/MARINES because Anthony Melia served as a Navy Chaplain with the U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq.

Thank You. It was my honor to serve. I moved out of Gerritsen Beach but I will always be a beachrat at heart. Thanks to all who wrote a comment and may God continue to Bless all military members from Gerritsen Beach and around the country.
