I don’t get it. Why build a Lowe’s right next to a Home Depot? Don’t they sell the same kind of stuff?

Yeah, they do but Loews’ stuff is more upscale and trendy.

I can’t wait, that Home Depot stinks. They didn’t even have a plain white toilet seat…the cheapest they had was $35, so I may as well shop at Lowe’s anyway.

One of them will go out of business. Just stupid to build the same exact store next door. “upscale and trendy” hahaha. It will be ghetto just like the home depot, just like Kings plaza.

that Home Depot doesn’t even count, I always end up going to the one on Cropsey because the Avenue U one has NOTHING!

Anyone who has been following this project for the last couple of years knows that the original plan was for Home Depot to move to a new site next to Toys R Us near the Belt Parkway when Lowe’s opens, leaving Home Depot’s Avenue U site open for a different type of retailer. There were also plans for some type of Big Box Store to be built by the Belt Parkway as well. Though, now with the failing economy in the equation, I wonder if those original plans will ever become reality.

Everywhere you look there are Home Depot & Lowes right next to one another. The 2 have been down under the Gowanis for years now. It’s called competition…maybe the new Lowes will make that crappy Home Depot shape up.

I know the owner of this site he has owned it for many years. the site had one of the worst oil spills in american history and it took a very long time to clean. whats interesting here is that the home depot next door is the smallest in the country and the lowes that is being built is going to be the biggest one in the country. home depot will probably close down but i havent heard about it opening up on flatbush ave.

I don’t remember the exact date, but the story about Home Depot moving down near the Belt Parkway on Flatbush was in the newspaper sometime within the last year. At the time the article also mentioned another store or two would be built at the new site as well. The details of the article seemed to answer some of the concerns of the neighborhood that the two similar stores next to each other would cause problems in the area.

The answer is simple – Lowes is giving The Home Depot a run for their money – One conglomerate after another. I prefer the old hardware store where the owner knew what he was talking about and could tell you how to fix/install it.

Th only old hardware store around these parts is Marine Park Hardware on Ave S and 35th. It’s small but they’re very willing to give advice if you’re involved in a do-it-yourself project.

Everyone here is talking about building Home Depot on Flatbush ave by ToysRUs. They also need to build one on Knapp street exit and one on Rockaway ave exit. Then they would have all exists of Belt Pkwy covered!
