A fire Tuesday, March 31st started in the basement of a home on Gerritsen Avenue and caused damage to a decent portion of the structure, but there was no harm to people or pets.
The fire at 2526 Gerritsen Avenue. started around 5 p.m. and caused heavy damage to the basement and moderate to light smoke damage to the first floor and the above floors.

On top of the fire, residents of 2526 Gerritsen Avenue were making wild accusations about how the fire started, I will let this guy explain:

Thats so sad. What a terrible thing to happen.

Who are these people moving into our neighborhood that would set an attached house on fire to evict tennants, allegedly? What about the family who lived on the other side of them? They were put at great risk aswell. These real estate operations in the area better smarten up about who they bring into our community. Luckily noone was hurt. If this becomes an epidemic like it has in lesser communities in Brooklyn maybe the real estate agencies need to be straightened out?!

I just sold my house in the beach. I “The Homeowner” made the ultimate decision on who bought my home. By law the agent must show the house or they will lose their license. So your neighbors make the ultimate decision. The agent has no choice to show the house to whomever requests an appointment. Its the LAW!!

Before you go and accuse someone of popping bills maybe you should get your facts straight!!! The man who owns the house is ill…..It is a terrible, terrible TRAGEDY! THEY LOST NOT JUST THERE HOME, THERE MEMORIES!!..they have lost everything and you sit here and talk about them…..get a life and maybe you should learn vocabulary!!

The tenants are catagorized as PROFESSIONAL TENANTS. They show up “innocently” with a child and grandma, take possession, and pay NO RENT, and then when evicted , trash the home. Fact: They stiffed their last landlord for 9 months rent, and when evicted, trashed that home( past landlord was found and verified this). The meds are for “medical” reasons. The Mrs. had a heart attack within the past year, while she was in “CHURCH”.
I know these people for over 20 years, and they didn’t burn down their own house. They barely saved their dog(which is very dear to them), which was in the home when they went to eat, and would definitly not destroy their lifetime of memories, that were in the home.
Because she was raised “DOWN HERE”, doesn’t make her a model citizen.

If true those tenants need to be arrested.
That is a nightmare situation – to try and rent out an apartment and end up having to legally host blood sucking leetches. The law makes it way too easy for even repeat offenders to live of someone else’s sweat.

where did you get your information from? who is this previous landlord? why doesn’t this landlord come foward if this is all true? what about the fact that this landlord on the ave had chased away several other tenants due to their erratic behavior. they stalk the household, bully their tenants. and according to the tenant prior to this tenant the landlord was breaking into their apt and stealing money and jewelry while the tenant was at work.

did anyone even think about the baby that was inthe house and the fire marshal stated that “this was no accident the mattress was lit on fire by holding a flame to it or leavng a cigaret on it ” those were his exact words. 2 people could of lost there lives plus the dozen of fire fighters who went into theblazing house and all you people can talk about pill poppers so what if that how they live fine so be it.but lets try to maybe help the family that lost there stuff in the fire if we can .

the video interview with the “innocent’ bystander:
it is nice to see that this so called “innocent” bystander knew all of the facts of the fire before fire was even extinguished as well as before the fire marshall made his discovery and ruling. The individual in the video sat across the street for hours on end watching the house and even sat there looking at the house as the child a 7yr old ran out the front door as flames were coming through the windows and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Leaving a 7yr old girl, a 50 yr old woman and an 85 yr old woman who is sick in the household to fend for themselves. What a discpicable person.. It is ironic that this individual knew that the fire started in the basement…….. AND WHO IS THIS “INNOCENT” BYSTANDER? THE HOMEOWNERS FRIEND. whom i may add had returned to the house and started to verbally abuse the tenant.
as for the tenant, whom is being accused of this horrific crime , she was at work. Which a time card could prove. Her mother in law was home caring for her daughter and grandmother, who is sick. Why would someone set their house on fire with their family members inside? that is just a crazy concept.
I like how the landlords lost all of their memories, yet they had been seen removing articles from their household for over a week prior. and as for the “innocent” bystander immediately following the fire he opened the trunk of his vehicle for everyone to see, which contained photos, a jewelry box, and other possessions that are ironically similar to the items of which they landlords claimed to have lost. When the police looked in that direction he immediately shut the trunk sped off and returned in a different vehicle.
also i like how the landlords left for dinner and then magically had a feeling to return to their house to find the place on fire. and made it in the nick of time to rescue their dog.
SO IRONIC!!!!!!!

it is just very wierd with the timing, they arrive home just in time. how did they know to get back hom before the fd got there to get their dog, when they were going out to dinner.. the timing is a little bit funny.

What Timing You go out to eat, you eat, you come home. Fire is unpredictable, The whole house could have blown up from the gas line. Them arriving home just in time was a godsend , they were able to get their dog and nobody get hurt. No one could predict that
