The Sheepshead Bay / Plumb Beach Civic Association has announced that it will hold its next General Meeting Tomorrow March 3rd, 2009 at 7:30 PM at 3156 Ocean Avenue, the landmark site of Lundy’s Restaurant that is the proposed site of Cherry Hill Gourmet Restaurant and Market.
Cherry Hill Gourmet Restaurant and Market has agreed to open its doors to all interested neighbors and community members who wish to attend the meeting, and give the community a “sneak preview’ of the renovated and refurbished interior of the building. They have also promised the Civic Association that they will address any and all questions and concerns about the work done on the landmark site.
The SB/PBCA will also be placing further information on its website, http://www.sbpbcivic.org, as more news becomes available.

Of course, they will display the signage that was illegally removed from the exterior of the building and the sidewalk and how they will restore it.
Sure!

It’s about time that the community is getting to see what has been going on behind closed doors. This is welcome news. I am pretty sure they will have to reinstall the lettering and awnings, which needed to be removed in order to repair & paint the crumbling facade of the building. I do not understand the complaints about the sidewalk. It was nothing special, it was an old & cracked sidewalk like any other, with no landmark designation, which certainly needed to be replaced. That is why the ridiculous sideshow put on by Senator Kruger a few months back cheapened the cause of fighting fo the proper care of this landmarked building. There were pertinent issues that needed to be brought to the attention of the authorities, but the facts should have be checked, like the “building” having landmark status, not the sidewalk, before taking a stand on something. The only reason the Building Dept. temporarily stopped the sidewalk work was because they did not have a building permit, just like the majority of homeowners that do the same thing to save the cost of a permit when replacing their own sidewalks. I,m pretty sure there was no landmark violation as they were ultimately allowed to finish the sidewalk.

Well, I guess you now know. The architects were too stupid to check on the landmark status of the building, including the sidewalk which was not “old and cracked.” Maybe you should do your research before you run off at the mouth.

We hope everyone comes to the meeting with questions – including our elected officials and other who have voiced their opposition to Cherry Hill Gourmet Restaurant and Market. But most importantly, the public needs to come out to demand what we’ve should’ve gotten all along – straight answers.
Hopefully, that’s what we’ll get. I know our Association has many questions for all involved parties. Bring yours.

he probably got a very long lease on it and wants to do it up the right way. some people enjoy shopping in nice places and feel comfy then they spend more money. the food and drink industry has the highest profit margin as far as retail goes. if you build it they will come.
