Since Benny of Victorias Pizzeria (2716 Gerritsen Ave)has been back he has been changing up the place, first starting with the menu, and he has future plans to renovate the place.
Most Notably Benny is introducing “Gourmet Pizza” which can be only ordered as a pie only.

With the new menu all of the prices have gone up from .25 to a few dollars for the pies. Prices did go up awhile ago but at least now you can see them on a printed menu.

On a side note, it seems like Victorias is very late to join the Gourmet Pizza bandwagon, it might be a good thing but it might not be. When I think Victorias I think good Brooklyn squares, I don’t want to see their existing pizza suffer. I do understand that they need to compete with Knapp Street Pizza but Knapp offers “slices” of their gourmet pizza, ordering a pie is taking a chance you might not like it.
Its also worth noting that their new menu “says” they accept credit cards now, which is a relief whenever I tried to use it before I was told “it no work” :)

I try to stay on the ball here, this was something new in the neighborhood that needed to be reported on, Benny coming back was also something to be noted.

Being a resident of the Beach for 23 years,.. I think it is notable. Victoria’s has been around, and been a part of supporting the community and it’s sports since I was a kid. I remember asking Benny a few years ago about the different pizza’s that everyone else sold and they didn’t. He said he tried a few times but people down here didn’t go for it. The slices would cost more and people refused to pay it. I guess he’ll have better luck with the pies.

Like beachwalker said it’s a NEIGHBORHOOD institution. OUR neighborhood, and for a small business to be as successful as Victorias for 45 years, they are doing something right. The Renzetti family have done nothing but give back to the community during that entire time, and will continue to do so, hopefully for another 45 and more. And the squares are the BEST in the city.
So keep on eating in Knapp street with their ridiculous prices and constant flies buzzing in your face as you eat. Try not to think about all their health violations. Maybe next time your sitting on your bowl with stomach cramps you will finally get the point.

Victoria Pizza has been in GB since for at least 45 years. They spent years at the original location between Devon and Channel. The debate can go on forever, a matter of personnal taste, if you love it or hate it. I think its great. The squares are the best!! But the real issue is that Victoria Pizza is one of the only thriving businesses on the Ave. and we love them. Benny and his dad Mike before him have stayed here with us through the good times and the bad. Who could have blamed them if they had packed up and moved out in the 60s when the junkies were robbing every store on the Ave, and often were literally laying all over the Ave in front of their store? But they not only stuck it out, they sponsored COUNTLESS sports teams, little league, pony league, and adult teams. They have always generously donated to any organization, school that comes to them. Not so many years ago, when Benny was in better health, he ran the Beach Parties on the Ave., that raised tons of money, saved the Vollies more than once, not to mention helping St. James and Resurrection. REAL Gerrittsen Beach people know that they deserve our loyalty and have it. So Bagels, once again, stay on that side of Ave U. You just don’t get it. And WE don’t care. WE know what WE have, AND WE LOVE IT. Why don’t you spend some time on the MArine PArk website and write about the kids drinking, and smoking pot in Marine Park at night? Or the drug dealers that sit in their cars by the handball courts? Maybe you should try to do some good in your own neighborhood and stop torturing us with your stupid posts and criticisim of our webmaster, whom we also really like. :)

On another post he says he would like to see a strip club open “when Jordans closes”.( I’m going to go there this weekend and give them some business-its been a couple of months.) Even though they are not technically in the Beach, it would be a total shame to ever see it go. I find it extremely frustrating that this person can put in a random email address that does NOT belong to them. I am stuck getting replies to all this person’s comments on your site. This doesn’t bother you? Especially when one goes back through just the comments on this post and sees that ‘bagels’ has gotten into it with you?
You broached going into moderation, and based on what happened when I posted yesterday lamenting that ‘bagels’ seems to have hijacked my email address on this site, you’ve done so. Perhaps you need to take it a step further by having all users register with email verification before they can participate in the discussion.
bagels, I have no idea who you are, but if you are afraid of using an email address that will easily identify you, then take your butt over to hotmail, gmail, yahoo or netscape and open another email account. I ordered the the Nonni pie last night, it was really good, probably the best Grandma pie I’ve had since moving into the neighborhood (A&L on 18th Avenue, Bensonhurst was always my favorite Grandma pie place)
