81 Year Old Dockside Cafe Closed…

Dockside ala Google Street View

We have just been informed that the dockside has closed this past weekend, possibly for good.

All of the employees were devastated as they were suddenly out of a job.

A quick search on the State Liquor Authority website shows that the Dockside’s liquor license expired on Saturday January 31st. That might be a good reason.

Just to clarify, the Dockside Café itself, has not been Dockside Café for 81 years, but the place has been in operation as a food establishment (It was a Civic Club) for 81 years.

I did not know this place even existed. Maybe if they had advertised they would still be in business.

#1 – It seems to have closed because they did not keep up their license not for lack of customers

#2 – it was around for 81 years, I think they did OK with the amount of advertisement they had.

      It will be missed!

  • I remember when we first moved into the neighborhood, we were drained from unpacking, so we hit the dockside for some burgers and beer, it’s a shame they got rid of the kitchen shortly after.

I was JUST there on Friday night! It didn”t look like a place that was about to close up shop.

The location of the Dockside has a lot going for it. In 1952, it was the “Civic Club”. That was where my parents and friends held a going away party for me when I was leaving for Korea. For awhile, Dockside had a very good cook and the food was excellent. The people who managed it and those who worked there were very cordial and will be missed. More recently the American Legion Post held their meetings there. Hopefully, it won’t become another piece of property for some greedy developer to tear down.

Yes it was a nice place. When my wife and I were dating we went there all the time.
Too bad the old owners sold it to that guy John. He was the problem.
Anyway, it was a nice plave with great food.

I drove past there the other day and had a good laugh at what someone has done to the sign. They removed the “D” from Dockside and moved up the “C” from Cafe. I guess I shouldn’t really think thats funny, but I did.
