This afternoon there was a serious 3 car crash this afternoon that also damaged 2 parked cars.
One of the individuals had to be cut out with the jaws of life from the car above.

If people would just follow the laws of the road, and get their heads out of their ass. Accidents would be very rare. I am guilty of driving like a jerk at times, but when I catch my self doin it i stop. Honestly how much quicker do you get where your going by speeedin to just what eventually is another red light, stop sign, or an oblivious driver. Be safe on the roads guys, and watch out for the dws drivers(driving while stupid)

That was Whitney. I’m not surprised, there is many a morning that some looney pulls a uturn in the middle of the block to drop someone off in front of Resurrection school. Is it so hard to go to the nest corner & turn not only with a light, but where peole are more likely to expect you. The middle of the block is insane.

It’s a shame that people are constantly getting seriously injured or killed on Gerritsen Ave in car accidents, but it seems to be a common place for the ave.
To me it’s like a shooting in East New York – just another day in the Hood !
One day when you least expect it your going to get that phone call that informs you that one of you loved ones was just involved in an accident on the Ave.
I hope that day never comes but sadly it most certainly will.
The unfortunate thing is it will probably be or should I say it most certainly be someone you know that inflicts the Serious Bodily Injuries on you or one of your loved ones and no one cares.
A few close friends will cry & morn your loss while others sympathize the person at fault and at the end of the next day we’ll all go about our business like it never happened until the next episode.
We wake up everyday & it’s a crap shoot as to if there’s going to be an accident & if someone’s going to get killed in that accident.
For the most part every collision on the Ave has it’s own set of circumstances as to why the collision happened in the first place.
The circumstances range from Speeding, Wreckless dumb ass driving to Drugs or Alcohol.
Justice is never served because witnesses never come forward, traffic controls are not in place as they should be because the community does not want them there because a traffic light might increase the travel time by a few mins & so on …….
My point is Stop Viewing these collisions as a Spectator Sport & get to the root of the problem already … This didn’t start happening yesterday & we all know that.
I truly hope the people in that accident are alright unfortunately the one at fault is probably the least injured – that’s always the saddest part :o(

I was there the car on the side walk with the doors cut off ran the red light and was T-Boned by the other two cars it was very tragic and scary but all survived and it was amazing how it happened and i just want to say to all who drive be careful and dont try to beat the light if it yellow slow down the world will not hate you if your just a few minutes late becouse of a red light . it will save your life

First of all, you would suck as a proofreader because you don’t even know how to spell it. Your typing sucks too, although I admit mine is not always perfect either, but I don’t call myself ‘spellcheck’ Second, you also suck as a critic because I think that anonymous #8 is completely correct. I have spent my life in the beach and have spent too many nights in Byrnes to count, and I’m not that old. It really wouldn’t take that much of a sacrifice from everyone to make it a safer place to walk, bike and drive. Just slow down, get off the cell phones, and pay attention to your driving. The STOP signs, speed limit and rules against double parking are adequate, if people pay attention to them.

Friday afternoon, 1:45PM way early for school to let out as far as I know. A car sort of parked near bus stop across from 277. woamn with cig hanging from her mouth decides this is the proper time & palce to pull a Uturn. Luckily I suspected that was her interntion, as of course no directional was used & managed to avoid a stupid accident.
WHy do people think the middle of a block is the place to turn???

Since cars were invented there has always been stupid, avoidable incidents. In fact when cars were first used, Kansas City had only two cars owned by two rich men. Wouldn’t you know it they crashed. It just goes to show that things we invent to make life easier(lazier) always are used in the way they were not meant to be. IE:speeding, dui, cell phone, etc… Anyway, like I said earlier if we just take that extra second, or slow down that 5mph, the roads would be 100 times safer. I know I have driven like a jerk, and its unfortunate that it takes something like this to make me practice what I just preached. Back in July my best friend died on the ave because of someone trying to beat a light. It was one of those incidents that could have been avoided, but when we get into a routine of bad habits, this is what it takes to break em. Be safe a please take that extra second to look around you while on the road…

I don’t proclaim to be a professional writer which is probably why I haven’t written any prize winning novels in my life time. What I am however is smart enough to observe and know there are far too many car accidents resulting in serious injuries & fatalities in Gerritsen Beach than in any other district in the 5 boro statisticly
Here’s your homework assignment for the day little boy, go search the DOT’s files on the five boro’s & also look into the NYPD’s recordings on accidents leading to serious injuries or fatality and compare them to GB’s district and let me know what you come up with other than AH AH YOU SUCK …. Thanks Anonymous. I was wondering if I should bother defending myself to that Butt Head, (first name Butt, Last name Head), like all idiots, he should just be ignored. I don’t think that stupid driving is something that is just a GB problem. People are just too inconsiderate and rude. Too caught up in their own busy days to worry about anyone else. I am a true believer in ‘what goes around comes around’. Maybe someday it will be Proofreader who is lying on the ave. with the last drops of blood leaving his body. Or his child who is mowed down by some speeding teenager with no clue. I don’t wish it on anyone, I don’t wish it on him, but sometimes things work out that way. I still mourn for the friends that I lost through the years. I always think about what they could have been and what a waste to lose your life at 18, 20 or anytime for a stupid reason. Many of them missed out on the really GOOD stuff of life. Love, marriage, children. I think about the parents and families of these people and how their lives were never the same. How could it be? Life is long, but it goes fast, why take a chance of cutting it shorter? Why take the chance on taking someone elses life? Yes, all accidents do have their own set of circumstances, but there is never a good reason for any of them. All accidents are avoidable. Slow down, get off the phone, go around the corner instead of making that illegal u turn. Stop at the stop signs, Yield to pedestrians. Stop your car and give that elderly person the time to get across, or that kid. Someday it may be your own.
