The storefronts are definitely an improvement over the old gas station and really cleaned up the area, but did we really need more storefronts for rent when such a large number of storefronts are already empty up and down Avenue U? Hopefully they will find tenants soon.

These new and clean stores look great, but I am really concernred about the dismal fate of the old Foursome Diner site. I read recently that Walgreens was scaling back it’s developement plans for constructing and opening new stores in an effort to cut costs as a result of the bad economy. Based on the lack of progress at this site for many months now, I would tend to think that this is one of the sites that they may be choosing to give up on. In that case, we will be stuck with this huge hole in the ground for some time as nobody has the capital to develope such a large site at this time. It seems that their proposed site on Coney Island Ave & Ave W may be suffering the same fate as well.

A nice and welcome improvement. If these stores contain anything remotley useful I will support the local businesses.
