It appears that our Gerritsen Beach Bagel Store is suffering from constant infighting that recently reached a climax when some of the “partners” supposedly walked out. This leaves only one partner left to run the store (Pete), who has been in the store every morning by himself serving customers.
There have also been rumors that the Bagel Store might be having trouble making rent, and that people are going in and out of the store late at night. Personally, I like the bagel store and I don’t like seeing it fail because of stupid people.
This is being heavily discussed on the forums, but we will be losing the bagel store.
I know there are lines drawn in the sand about which delis are better in the area. I also know that if anyone gets burned by a deli they usually don’t go back.

The bagel store has great bagels. Closing would be a shame. It seems to do good business. Why can’t the Beach have any good/great stores? Bring back Ernie’s deli. The samwich shop was horrible. The people in the beach need to support the stores on the Ave. and not just the bars.

Pete is the best, he works his ass off every am. He is the only one there with ANY personality. I feel so bad for him sometimes I feel like jumping the counter and taking orders. And seriously the morning is when a business like that makes its money. Are the other “partners” benefitting from that money? Get Kim back in the mornings!! remember her she was great. Its too bad.

Which one is kim?
Kim always had the concert tickets for sale, she used to win them on the radio. She was there for years, I think from when the original owner was present.

Too frigging right Irish Pete is the hardest worker there. Hell, most times he’s the only worker there. When Franken-stupid and the rest came they ruined it. The chased away the Mexican guys and Kim, they kept closing the place early. They fought or big-shot all day and nothing got done. This is a total, awful shame. I remember that cars used to double park around the place because the bagels are so banging and the service was quick. Now bungholes who want to be in charge but are too stupid to supervise themselves have destroyed yet another neighborhood store. And this one was great. The best of all. I hope the bastards are happy.

I don’t think its a lack of support. Just massive infighting.
1. Momason’s/Tim’s (closed) – by far was the best store ever on the ave.
2. Food Haven (closed) – just the old, kinda dark inside structure of the place and the fact that she used to get fireworks for the 4th july every year.
3. Brenman’s Butcher – the only place i’ll ever buy coldcuts from and the people who work there are great people.
4. Steve & Larry’s – rip larry. used to go here every morning after my paper route. Larry was a good guy.
5. Leo’s – basically the only good deli left on the ave. Once Momason left I was forced to go here… the new owners are pretty nice people.

Hey Joe ask your father or uncle about the deli on Seba and Gerritsen It was not bad. Had my first hero from there a long time ago. I forget the name. It began with an F.

those other people ruined that business for pete, it’s not fair to him…we need a deli where you can get good service and different types of sandwiches, wraps, salads….etc…it would be great if someone could help pete and build his business back up

I completely agree, that bagel store has the potential to be a gold mine, the bagels are good. They used to have specialty sandwiches, soups, homemade roast beef and turkey. Pete really just needs a good business minded person to place that store in the right direction.

Pete is the best and we should all do what we can to help. I agree bring Kim back. Brenmans is the best deli. They need to get rid of New Dutch and its big fat whore owner. How anyone could go in there amazes me. The big fat disgusting cat lays all over everything. But thats so he can rest after eating all the rats at night.

Pete is a good guy and his son is a doll. i feel bad for them. Recently, one of the mexicans left in the middle of their shift and never came back because of the infighting. Pete should start over with a new crew and I agree Kim was great always quick with coffee and a smile. I hope they work it out and quick

Pete has worked his backside off trying to make this place work. The man that bought it off the old partners died and unfortunately left it to his daughter who thinks with her vagina and not her brain. Pete tried to buy it from them but they were to stupid to know they were to stupid to work. I really hope someone would help Pete buy them out. We need a grocery store in this neighborhood very badly but without the neighbors getting behind them there is no way someone will be willing to invest in Gerritsen Beach.

I don’t really know what is going on with the Bagel Store. I stopped in there this morning and the young(er) guys were actually yelling at Peter. They didn’t care that I was there. They kept yelling at Pete to “just get out of here and don’t ever come back”. (The language wasn’t that clean.) Can someone tell me if Pete has actually sold the store – and are these the new owners? If so, I won’t be going back there at all. If Pete is still involved then I will support him.

Was at the bagel store this morning, there was no Pete. The other owner and a worker were there and I have to say they were pretty pleasant and the bagel was good. You never know they may pull it off, I doubt it, but they might.

I was there this morning. Haven’t stepped foot in the place in about a year I could not beleive it. There was some girl with a baby standing around & the guy was doing the cooking & counter work, They had very few bagles & when the woman in front of me asked for a certain bagel it was suggested she buy a roll.
