Fire at 2240 Burnett Street

Serious Cardiac Arrest (possibly fatal)

A fire tore through apartments 4e, 5e, and 6e at 2240 Burnett Street (Brooklyn, NY 11229) today, and although there is no official explanation yet, people were saying it might have been an air conditioner.

No one was seriously injured from the fire itself but one resident suffered a heart attack. The gentleman is believed to be retired NYPD member Ed Bauer, but this has not been confirmed. There are conflicting reports that the heart attack was fatal. (pictured above)

Another older gentleman was also taken to the hospital.

Full Disclosure: The name of the gentleman and his health status are unconfirmed.

Here is a small photo gallery.

Does anyone know if any collections will be set up, or if any clothing, etc donations can be made to these families? I know this wonderful neighborhood we live in will come together and help out these families in any way we can.

Burnett Street suffered and sustained a fire it is true. However, it is a tradgic event which transpired. A thorough investigation was conducted immediately as well as first response readily cleaned the debri and black smoke filter from the hallway walls and floors diligently.
The conclusion of the cause and effects remain unresolved. Renovations were in progress and completed in 6 months to the satisfaction of all effected neighbors.
It is apparent that no individual is directly responsible for this event which did cause inconvenience and anxiety for those who were not effected directly and to great dismay, jealousy and anger surfaced amongst many individuals.
False accusations were overheard by many and a few. The reality of persons losing all personal property which the fire engulfed is definitely unrealized by those uneffected. Ity is truly an unforgettable event which remains. To those who remain unsympathethetic and a haughty attitude, hope you do not have the experience of losing your personal belongings and furnishings by a fire or deft. In reality yes, a blazed flaming torched and burned apartment was left. Take this in and help your neighbors who are in great need at this time as well. You will be a better person for it. God Bless you all.
