Gerritsen Beach has an 8 year celebrity! Hailey Scott, a Girl Scout Brownie, was featured on the Rachel Ray show on July 3rd and on the Next Food Network Star on July 5th.
She was partnered up with finalist Lisa Garza, and helped mix up a recipe for horseradish cream sauce. Hailey is one of the five NYC Girl Scouts chosen out of the many who auditioned for the coveted spot on the show.

Opportunities abound in NYC, and we can encourage our daughters to be leaders just by giving them the variety that the Girl Scout Community brings. Hopefully Hailey has been inspired to become a cooking show host herself one day.

Just to make a point The Scott’s are a wonderful family who devote ALOT of their time to our community, our school, our sports leagues and our community organizations. They obviously devote ALOT of their time to their children. Congratulations Hailey!

Hailey, we are very proud of you and I know your family is as well. Can you come over and cook for us one day? When we get old and gray (no wise cracks please) we will need somebody to take care of us and I have no doubt all of you children will step up to the plate!! Love ya.

To the 7/12 9:48 a.m. commenter: You are correct. Hailey isn’t in my troop. Nobody said that she is. Although the post was placed into the “Junior Troop #2053″ category, it is not relevent since we can all decipher the difference between Brownies & Juniors. She’s still a GS from the Beach & I felt she deserved recoginition, so I sent in this article to the administrator (with prior permission from her family BTW). She did a wonderful job and I am proud of her and thankful that her family allowed her the chance to audition. I did not try to take credit as her leader or even as being the author initially. I do not appreciate your comment pointing out the fact that she’s not in my troop, it is extraneous to the story or prior posts. Hailey was given this opportunity by me, not her leader. She was chosen because she is a deserving young lady and her worth & that of her family shows through in her accomplishments.

I had more than just butterflies.
I was so nervous that when I got off the set I had to go to the bathroom so bad!! LoL!!
I was surprised too that I kept my smile on my face the whole time!!!!
I almost choked down a whole piece of stake when I tried it.
When we were back stage we got to try each others recipes and the things we cooked. I forgot to bring mine BACK STAGE!!
