GB Cares is looking for sponsors of the 2008 GB Games to be held on Sunday, 8/3/08 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.. This events cost about $4000 each year to organize and it would help to have a few big sponsors. Please print the attached flyer and this email to present to your membership for a donation OR give it to a possible sponsor. We are only asking for sponsorship from business (Astoria Federal, Tracey R.E, etc.) and community organizations ( Cort Club, VFW 106, K of C #5989, etc.).

We are not looking for the sports organization/groups (GB Little League, All American Soccer, Resurrection Sports, etc) to make a donation. Instead we are asking the sports groups to help with promoting the event and let us know if you want to organize some type of activity for the GB games. (Maybe a game with kids-vs-parents.)

Here is a list of some of the basic costs:

$2,200 2 Bounce Houses, 1 water slide, popcorn, cotton candy for 5 hours.
$ 600 300 participation medals for children- Sponsor by Tracey Real Estate
$ 620 Petting Zoo for 2 hours
$ 350 Italian Ices and Ice for volunteers sodas and waters
$ 200 Water and soda for event volunteers
$ 500 Prize and giveaway items for event winners
$ 250 Photographer photo document event/activities (500 photos over 6 hours)
$ 700 Trophies for Car Show- (covered BY CAR SHOW ENTERY FEE)
$ 300 Watermelons and supplies (poster boards/signs, table cloths, etc)
$5,720 Total

Please help anyway you can. This is an event that does not raise money it brings families together to have fun and enjoy the community.

    Is there an agreement on the $.50 food court items? Make them $1 & that doubles the income on that component. Just an idea…

  • Anaonymous / Surprised ?

    This is a comical example of playing the game telephone in first grade. The original Message was for people to solicit sponsors – business that can afford to give back to the community- to cover the cost of the event. Or at least off set the cost. Instead, the post 5 days later ends with people talking about white trash? What are you all thinking? Have some pride in yourself……Find sponsors, keep the cost low for everyone, don’t raise the food price because it affords everyone -those who can – those who can’t to attend— if you have extra money, then donate it. This event is not about raising money or getting the adults drunk with $1 beers while the children are playing, its about building community spirit, allowing an entire family to go out and not get ripped off by paying $5 a drink, $4 a hot Dog or $3 a Ride for the kids, it is about he kids, community spirit and having fun

  • Get involved

    It seems that most people that comment on this site want to complain or put down the entire community. It is a shame that these people do not get involved in the volunteering that makes GB one of the best communities around. Every community has it’s problems and to blame all the kids for the bad actions of a few is sad.

    I see people cleaning Seba park every Saturday with GB Cares. I think anyone can help them by volunteering and do something besides complaining.
