The parks dept story goes…..There has to be a certain amount of vegetation cleared so they can get an accurate survey of the whole island and come up with a more permanent plan to hold it together. They admitted the sandbags were just a temporary emergency condition, and the longer term plans would include planting certain types of vegetation that would dig into the sand and secure the island. We’ll see where this actually goes… since there was no DEC representatives at the meeting the parks dept. was at a loss with a lot of answers. They did however promise to let people know if and when they would be spraying anymore herbicides in the area…. Let’s hope!!

Hey Anon.lighten up will you? I know there were alot of rumors and we were all wondering what was really happening there. I think last night was very informative and I know Dan taped it. I know with his tape , all will hear and see what was really going to happen. We all love the water and wouldn’t want anything to disturb the uniquness of Gerritsen’s clean waters……Thanks Dan

Doreen, if you know so much why don’t don’t you comment with your facts? Give Dan a chance, its his board. People come here for the facts and the rumors! Maybe you should clear up “Our News” so we can read your facts there.

I was actually at two meetings :)

Looking at my post above from a few days ago, there is nothing that I see that would be rumor worthy. I just stated that “there is heavy equipment on Mau Mau and they are clearing the island”. Which is absolutely true.

I am in the process of writing a separate post about the Mau Mau that would add more facts learned at the meeting but even with a separate post, this post is accurate because they are clearing the island.

What statement needs cleaning?

I don’t need any help, im am managing just fine with the site :)

I know you were at the meeting last night Dan, so, lets correct your statement. Please lets not get the rumer mill started if you know the facts, people should know the truth. I hope you can clean that statement up…. or do you need help?
