The Manhattan Beach “BeachSide Patrol” is a private security force that patrols the quiet Manhattan Beach streets. At a cost of $400 a year residents can opt-in for its protective services. Resident usually call the patrol if they don’t feel it necessary to call 911.
After Manhattan Beach split into two groups, Beachside Patrols future was a question on everyone’s mind. Mainly because the Manhattan Beach Community Group founded the Beachside Patrol 38 years ago and it was unknown if the new MBNA members were going to continue to pay into Beachside. The other question was the if MBCG member Albert Hasson, who joined the MBNA, and the liaison to Beachside Patrol, would relinquish control. The MBNA ended up staying in Beachside Patrol, but the two groups must share Beachside Patrol.
The MBCG president Ira Zalchman, has asked the former MBCG board member Albert Hasson, for “written financial accounting” however, there has been no compliance by Mr. Hasson. Albert Hasson has been and still is the liaison to Beachside Patrol.
Mr. Hasson has been offered time to speak at the MBCG June meeting, but chose to resign from the MBCG. As an organization, Beachside is mandated to offer its services to every homeowner in Manhattan Beach, regardless of affiliation.
This is a battle between Hasson and Ira, not the merits of Beachside.

I am surprised you post post an article without looking into the actual facts. You should not believe a word uttered out of Ira’s mouth as he has proven himself to be a dishonorable and blatant liar.
At a time when residents are most concerned for their safety after the recent holdup, the imbecile has chosen to attack neighborhood security rather than bolster it. His actions disgust the residents of Manhattan Beach and by attempting to undermine the security of the area he proves himself to be an enemy of the neighborhood. He is treasonous. He has rejected offers to discuss his concerns with Beachside and instead opted to send out cockeyed e-mails to members of his group.
Further note that to my knowledge, there is no current liason between the MBCG and Beachside and the two organizations are in no way affiliated.
The actual undisputable facts are as follows:
1) Ira has never paid for Beachside membership no matter
what the price.
2) The MBCG has never paid even one penny for Beachside
insurance – this was verified at their own Board meetings.
3) All contributions from the MBCG to Beachside occurred
before Ira became president – he can take no credit for
that.
4) Ira refused to even allow the MBCG’s Board to vote on
the $3000 supplement this year for enhanced summer security
coverage as has been done in years past, despite advance
notice.
5) Beachside gave the full report of the financing in front of Ira,
the MBCG Board, and all those who voted for him at the
MBCG’s annual meeting (Dec. 2007).
6) Any decrease in membership is a result of Ira’s and the
MBCG Board’s lack of regard for Beachside and their
“boycott” .
7) Residents experiencing financial hardship who can not
afford the full membership may be accepted at a discount in
response to complaints by the MBCG regarding affordability.
8) Ira removed Beachside from all agenda’s of the MBCG and
did not grant time for any Beachside discussions at any
meetings.
9) Beachside does indeed offer membership to all residents
of Manhattan Beach (regardless of their status as homeowner
or tenant and regardless of affilliation – Ira himself was
offered membership, but he refused). Beachside has always
accepted membership from anyone at any time. Nobody has
ever been refused membership in the history of Beachside.
10) Beachside belongs to the members. Ira is
not and has not been a member and as such has no say
whatsoever in the operation of Beachside. Should the
membership prefer half the coverage at half the price, I
would comply. However, to the contrary, members have often
asked to increase coverage even if it requires higher
dues.

Regarding the newly formed MBNA, they fully endorse Beachside and its efforts at keeping Manhattan Beach safe and secure.
Safety and security of the area should not be a political issue – it should be an underlying issue all residents of Manhattan Beach should be in favor of, excluding Ira Zalcman obviously.

As someone who does know the facts, it seems like this site got it right – you haven’t given a written accounting! That’s all Ira wants!
You said it yourself – you gave an accounting at the meeting. Just put it writing, and no one has anything to bitch about! But instead, you go on a verbal tirade looking to discredit someone, when all that’s been requested in what every person with an interest in a not-for-profit corporation has a right to know!
What’s with all the side-stepping? Putting it in writing is no big deal – unless you have something to hide?

The point is if you are not a member of Beachside you do not had the right to any information ..so if Ira wants any information tell him to join Beachside and support having a safe community..the fact is that Ira is not a member sends a message that he is not concerned will the safety of MB and he should not be speaking on any BEACHSIDE manners.
I am an a member of Beachside and they do a great job and as a member if a want any information there is no problem getting if by me just making a phone call …so the bottom line is Ira wants any information he should just become a member END OF STORY.

“Anonymous” – dont be so naive. first of all Beachside is under no obligation to provide Ira with any information about the organization whatsoever. second of all, the request from the MBCG was for a verbal report (he could have written it down if he wanted to – assuming he is literate). Thirdly, all the members received a written one by e-mail. Lastly, I don’t remember ever receiving one from the MBCG. As a matter of fact, their past president was never even allowed to see their own books. Coming from someone who’s first and only accomplishment as President of the MBCG was to secure $4,000 from the group’s funds to his own personal account – he really is not one to go around accusing others. Bottom line, he is too cheap to pay for security and as an excuse he attempts to attack it. Now enough wasting time with this stupidity as Beachside’s purpose is to deal with security issues in the area – not to waste time responding to idiots.

You’re so hung up on Ira that you’re missing the point – it’s not Ira asking for it, it’s the representative of MBCG, which gave you money in the last 12 months, asking for an accounting! You’re taking this WAY too personally! Get your head out of your backside give the Group the requested accounting to get them off of your back, and that’s that.
Or is it like I said – that you have something to hide? Funny how you didn’t address that! Methinks you protest too much!
No need to even respond – your constant deflections say it all clearly enough.

JJ……if you wish to side with the MBCG that’s fine, the fact is, they requested financial information from Beachside and it was given. The real story though is about children who cheat their way through life. The MBCG group is nothing more than children who when caught with their hands in the cookie jar, deny that it’s a cookie jar. As long as people continue to BS their actions and not take accountability, then we are all LIARS!!
