This home is titled wrong

yes in marine park and the beach large homes look out of place because homes on average have 1000 sq if you are lucky and most of the times have a whole block of homes attached or semi attached making it imposible to become a upscale area and when you do expand it looks out of place

IN THIS AREA ALL HOMES WERE NOT THE SAME SMALL HOMES BIG HOMES, TALL RESIDENTAL BUILDINGS ,CONDOS MANSIONS

EVEN 20 YEARS AGO THIS AREA WAS ABOUT TWICE THE PRICE OF MARINE PARK AND THE BEACH WITH ALL THE NEW HOMES THIS AREA HAS BECOME PRIME WHY START WITH THIS HOUSE ANYWAY THE HAVE BEEN BUILDING MANSIONS FOR YEARS TAKE A LOOK AROUND THE ORIGNAL 2.5 STORY AND BASMENT HOME ALMOST DOES NOT EXIST ANYMORE AND TO GET IN THIS AREA IS VERY EXPENSIVE TAKE A LOOK AGAIN HERE IS SOME HOMES 1950 EAST 19TH , 1624 AVENUE R ,1737 EAST 23RD ,1124 AVENUE S ,1829 EAST 19TH STREET, 1817 EAST 18TH STREET, 1875 EAST 13TH STREET, YOU COULD GO FOREVER SOME OF THESE DATE BACK TO 1991 WHY SAY THEY ARE OUT OF PLACE 17 YEARS LATER

WHAT ABOUT CONDO MADNESS THIS AREA HAD ZONING CHANGES SO ONLY LARGE ONE AND TWO FAMILY HOMES COULD BE BUILT ON A LOT OF NO LESS THEN 25 BY 100 MOST OF THE HOMES BUILT IN THE OTHER TWO AREAS MARINE AND THE BEACH ARE BUILT ON 18 BY 80 IN THAT CASE I WOULD AGREE WITH YOU BUT IN THIS CASE SOMEONE JUST TOOK A RANDOM PICTUE WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE FACTS GO DRIVE BY THOSE BLOCKS AGAIN UP AND DOWN EAST 12TH EVEN BY THE 61ST P HAS BIGG HOMES

Sheepshead Bay’s style is a bland 2-story bungalow squeezed into a lot [most houses elsewhere in this city are on a double lot]. This adds some flair to this dull and otherwise boring n’hood.

Sheepshead Bay has a lot of architecture of value. Most of it is older and many of these examples are in need of careful restoration but they are important. The developers are trying trying to take our history away from us.

On this property was a small house on the bottom of a hill. The size of the property was large enough to dwarf the house. It was in need of repair but was an interesting example of late second phase (ca. 1900) development in Sheepshead Bay. Of course it was expendable. I wish I had thought to photograph it before it was demolished but it was at a time when I wasn’t thinking about such photography. It was demolished in the late 90s, before websites like Flickr existed to give photographers an opportunity to present their works to a larger public.

I’m sorry, but Sheepshead Bay really has little or no architecture of merit. I don’t have a problem with the buildings that play with shapes and materials.

At least this building has an interesting roof line and isn’t just another boring box.

The over building in the area – that’s the real issue.

Anyone with that kind of money should just buy a bigger home to begin with and not ruin the ambiance of the area….after they ruin things, they will move.

WTF is that??? We need to somehow reverse this trend in appalling architectural styles in our fair borough. It’s getting a bit much.
