Sunday while I was at the point, the parks department was summonsing some paintballers, and as I was taking pictures of them, this woman who never identified herself (pictured above) said “Excuse me you can’t take pictures of officers doing their jobs“. I responded by saying that Yes I can, that’s your misinformed opinion. Nothing came of it and she continued to do her job as you can see.
Lady, if smoking and drinking mountain dew is doing your job where do I sign up to become a park ranger.
I never thought I would be told to stop taking pictures by some sort of officer. Ive read so many stories about others being harassed by police, that I felt prepared to do battle with this misinformed person…. it’s a good thing her mountain dew distracted her.

The general rule in the United States is that anyone may take photographs of whatever they want when they are in a public place or places where they have permission to take photographs.

secluded themselves in places where they have a reasonable expectation of privacy such as dressing rooms, restrooms, medical facilities, and inside their homes.Despite misconceptions to the contrary, the following subjects can almost always be photographed lawfully from public places:
- accident and fire scenes

- celebrities
- bridges and other infrastructure
- residential and commercial buildings
- industrial facilities and public utilities
- transportation facilities (e.g., airports)

- criminal activities
- law enforcement officers

At the same time as that parkie was drinking her mountain dew a fight broke out between two of the teams playing in the fields . It spilled onto Gerritsen ave and in front of the laundromat . It ended quickly with both teams jumping into theirs cars and driving wildly down Gerritsen Ave .the hole time a parks dept car sat in the filed’s at the intersection of Devon and Gerritsen facing them but doing nothing . I guess its easier to chase little kids in their big white 4 x 4 then stop real crime

There’s plenty of open park land that’s not part of the nature area . why don’t the park dept do something so instead of making money off the summonses , they could make it off the permit fee . I personally would love to see a fund raiser between the volley’s and the properties owners or the court club vs the Hibernian’s , Gerritsen beach cares could be the ref’s .

A few years ago I was approached in my store by a person that I assumed to be a board member about maybe doing a paintball fund raiser at kiddy beach . A week latter I met him on the beach with a price brake down and possible profit . He seamed to be impressed and liked the fact that it could be done when the beach was closed for the season . I went back to kiddy beach three times and was told that they were thinking about it the forth time he just said thank you no . What sounds like a great idea to you and me may not seem that way to someone els . now I know that was a few years ago and thing have changed ,but I’m still in the same store, and everyone knows where to find me . I am always interested in helping our community and have no problem donating my time , knowledge or merchandise .

I left GB in the late 70′s but I’ve always understood the residents to be a bit racist and provincial not having really had the chance to experience the world beyond avenue U. When I read the slandering of this Park’s employee I can really feel the racism coming out. Racists can’t tell you that they are because it is considered dumb to be so. But when these guys talk -I mean just listen to them ….dumb dumbs out of 277 all the way. GB has a high percentage of white trash and uneducated individuals who are just angry at anything. I bet they don’t like the Hindu that are begining to relocate there either. These GB kids are cowards who really only do one thing well and that is fight drunk, shoot paintballs all over the place and watch balls being thrown on a TV screen. I bet there are a lot of Nascar posters in bedrooms around that area :-)

I just looked up the stats on 11229 (which would include the projects and the areas around kings highway and it looks like “we” have a average percentile in high school graduates but an above average percentiles for both 2 & 4 year degrees.
