New York accent: Still talking the tawk?

VIA AM New York

AM-NY’s trying to determine what a real native NYC accent sounds like and where it is.

Looks like they skipped Queens. I love the brooklyn accent from the girl in Bensonhurst.

I’m originally from Staten Island, so I got a kick out of hearing our accent. I also got a kick out of the girl from Bensonhurst, the older gentleman from Manhattan (gray pin), and the older lady from the Bronx.

Personally, I want the accent to stay. All of the people moving here from out of state and taking over are ruining it. *scowls* I don’t mind immigrants’ accents because it gives NYC a great flavor. But the bland out-of-state accents (with the exception of the South, Chicago, and Boston) irk me to no end. Just my opinion.

I left GB back in the eighties, and I still have this Brookilyn accent that I so love.
Down in Florida I tried getting a job for a lawyers office and they turned me down because of the accent….It was better off that way.
Where I am now, everyone asks where are you from????

I live in staten island n I love my new yawk accent. I love it when I go on vaca and people say ” your from new York right?” i say yes very proudly. Idk if anyone else feels this way but I feel somewhat superior to people from other states especially jersey ( wanna be ny’s). I’m sorry if that’s a bad thing but that’s really how I feel, so basically I love when people know I’m from the best place in the world
